Description

The Invacare Full Body Toileting Sling for Hoyer Lift is a highly trusted solution for safe, comfortable, and hygienic patient transfers. Designed for individuals who require full-body support, this sling combines stability, breathability, and toileting access in one versatile design—making it one of the most reliable toileting slings for hoyer lift use available today.

Whether you are transferring a patient from bed to wheelchair, assisting with shower routines, or performing daily hygiene care, this Invacare sling is engineered to reduce caregiver strain while improving patient comfort, positioning, and safety.

Why this matters: Choosing the right sling is not just about lifting—it directly impacts patient dignity, safety, and the ease of everyday caregiving routines.

Ideal Use Cases – Who This Sling Is Best For

This toileting sling for hoyer lift use is ideal for:

  • Patients who are fully or partially dependent
  • Individuals with limited head or trunk control
  • Care routines involving toileting, hygiene, or dressing
  • Homecare caregivers needing safe and efficient daily transfers
  • Facility environments requiring reliable, washable slings
  • Amputee patients requiring reclined full-body support

This sling is especially valuable in real-world scenarios where caregivers need both full support and access—for example, transferring a patient from bed to commode without needing to remove the sling.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Commode Opening Design: Enables easier toileting and hygiene care without full sling removal
  • Full Body Support: Provides head, neck, back, and leg support for maximum stability
  • Breathable Mesh Fabric: Quick-drying and ideal for shower and bathing use
  • Amputee-Compatible: Can be used safely in reclined positioning

  • Invacare Jasmine Lift
  • Invacare 9805P Lift
  • Invacare Birdie Evo XPLUS Lift

Additional Compatibility:
This sling uses a standard loop-style attachment and may also be compatible with many other patient lifts that use:

  • 2-point, 4-point, or 6-point spreader bars
  • Loop-style sling connections

How to Choose the Right Size (Very Important)

Selecting the correct size is critical for both safety and comfort. This model is available in:

  • Medium (M)
  • Large (L)
  • Extra Large (XL)
  • XXL (Bariatric Option)

Simple sizing guideline:

  • Choose based on patient weight + body width, not clothing size
  • If between sizes → go larger for comfort and safer positioning
  • Ensure proper support under thighs and back when seated

Invacare slings are known for consistent sizing across models, which makes it easier to select the correct fit once you understand the patient’s general size range.

Real-World Care Scenario

A caregiver assisting an elderly patient with limited mobility may need to transfer them from bed to a commode multiple times per day. Using a standard full body sling would require repositioning or removing the sling entirely for toileting. With this toileting sling for hoyer lift, the caregiver can perform safe transfers while maintaining hygiene access—saving time, reducing strain, and improving the patient’s overall experience.

Why Choose Invacare Slings?

Invacare slings are among the most trusted in the industry due to:

  • Proven reliability in both homecare and clinical environments
  • Consistent sizing and compatibility standards
  • High-quality materials and reinforced stitching
  • Designed to work seamlessly with leading patient lift systems

Choosing the right toileting sling for hoyer lift use often comes with important questions about compatibility, sizing, materials, and daily use. Below are the most common real-world questions buyers ask before choosing Invacare slings, answered clearly to help you make the right decision.

Invacare Full Body Toileting Sling FAQs

Is this toileting sling compatible with all hoyer lifts?

This sling is specifically designed for Invacare patient lifts such as the Reliant 450/600, Jasmine, and 9805P models. However, because it uses a standard loop-style attachment, it may also work with many other hoyer lifts that use 2-point, 4-point, or 6-point spreader bars. Always confirm compatibility with your specific lift model before purchasing.

What makes this a toileting sling for hoyer lift use?

This sling includes a built-in commode opening, which allows caregivers to perform toileting and hygiene routines without fully removing the sling. This design improves efficiency, reduces repositioning, and helps maintain patient dignity during daily care.

Can this sling be used for showering or bathing?

Yes. The breathable mesh fabric is designed for wet environments, making it suitable for shower transfers and bathing routines. It dries quickly and allows water to pass through, which helps improve hygiene and reduces discomfort during use.

Is this sling machine washable?

Yes, this Invacare sling is machine washable. Always follow the care instructions provided on the sling label to maintain fabric integrity and ensure long-term durability. Regular cleaning is especially important for toileting and hygiene use.

How do I choose the correct size for this sling?

This sling is available in Medium, Large, XL, and XXL sizes. Sizing should be based on the patient’s weight, body width, and support needs—not clothing size. A sling that is too small can be unsafe, while one that is too large may not provide proper positioning.

For a full breakdown of sizing and selection, see our Patient Lift Slings Guide.

Does this sling provide full body support including the head?

Yes, this is a full body sling designed to support the back, hips, and legs, and it is suitable for patients with limited mobility. It can be used for patients with reduced head control, but always evaluate whether additional head support is needed based on the patient’s condition.

Can this sling be used for amputee patients?

Yes. This sling can be used for amputee patients in a reclined position, providing stable and secure support during transfers. Proper positioning and sizing are especially important in these cases to ensure safety and comfort.

What is the difference between this sling and a divided leg sling?

This full body toileting sling provides broader support across the entire body and includes a commode opening for hygiene access. A divided leg sling (U-sling) separates the legs and may offer more positioning flexibility but may not provide the same full-body support or toileting convenience.

Can the patient stay seated in the sling after transfer?

This sling is primarily designed for transfers. While it may be used for short periods, it is generally recommended to transfer the patient into a proper seating surface for extended comfort. Always follow manufacturer guidance for safe usage.

What type of patients is this sling best for?

This sling is best for patients who are fully or partially dependent, have limited mobility, or require assistance with toileting and hygiene routines. It is commonly used in both homecare and professional care settings where safe and efficient transfers are needed.

Is mesh or padded material better for daily use?

Mesh is ideal for bathing and toileting because it dries quickly and is more breathable. Padded slings may provide more comfort for longer seated periods. This mesh version is best suited for hygiene-focused routines and frequent transfers.

Are there other toileting sling options available?

Yes. Different patients require different levels of support and access. You can compare other options here: Explore all commode opening slings.
