Description
Karman LT-700T – Lightweight Steel Wheelchair That Weighs 36 lbs and Folds in Seconds
The Karman LT-700T is a lightweight steel wheelchair: the strength of a steel frame at about 36 lbs, lighter than many standard steel chairs. It carries 250 lbs and comes in 16″, 18″ and 20″ seat widths, all 16″ deep.
Flip-back desk arms swing out of the way for side transfers and let the rider pull up to a table, swing-away footrests make standing easier, and solid flat-free tires mean no punctures. A rugged hammer tone finish keeps it looking good. Karman notes this chair is used in many airports and hospitals.
Choose standard swing-away footrests or elevating legrests (LT-700T-E) in the dropdown. It’s one of the best values in our manual wheelchair range.
Why Choose This Lightweight Steel Wheelchair?
Steel chairs last, but they’re usually heavy. The LT-700T trims the weight to about 36 lbs while keeping a steel frame that stands up to daily use. If you want a reliable everyday chair at a fair price that a caregiver can still lift, this is a strong pick.
Who Is the LT-700T Best For?
This chair is a good fit for:
- Everyday users up to 250 lbs
- Riders who need a 16″, 18″ or 20″ seat
- Families who want a durable chair at a budget price
- Riders who do side transfers, thanks to the flip-back arms
- Riders who need elevating legrests (LT-700T-E)
It’s also a good backup chair to keep in the car or at a second home.
Who May Need a Different Chair?
- Need lighter: aluminum chairs like the Karman LT-770Q with pop-off wheels, or ultralight chairs, are easier to lift.
- Riders over 250 lbs: see the Karman KN-920W bariatric wheelchair.
- Caregiver always pushes: a transport chair is lighter.
36 lb Steel Frame
Karman lists the LT-700T at 36 lbs. The steel frame folds in seconds for car trunks and storage, and the hammer tone finish resists chips and scuffs.
Steel vs. Aluminum Wheelchairs
Aluminum chairs are lighter, and they cost more. Steel chairs are heavier but very durable and usually more affordable. The LT-700T narrows the gap: at about 36 lbs it’s close to some aluminum chairs while keeping a steel frame’s toughness and a budget price. For daily home use with occasional car trips, that balance works well for many families.
Flip-Back Desk Arms
The armrests flip back out of the way, which makes side transfers to a bed, car seat or toilet easier, and the desk length lets the rider sit close to a table.
Swing-Away or Elevating Legrests
Standard swing-away footrests move out of the way for standing and adjust to the rider’s leg length. The LT-700T-E version comes with elevating legrests for riders who need their legs raised.
Solid Flat-Free Tires
Solid tires ride smoothly on most surfaces and can never go flat, so there’s no air pressure to check.
Nylon Upholstery
Specially formulated nylon upholstery is comfortable for all-day sitting and easy to wipe clean.
Common Problem → LT-700T Solution
Problem: a family needs a dependable wheelchair for a parent after surgery, without spending much, and it has to fit in the car.
Solution: the 36 lb LT-700T folds in seconds and holds up to daily use.
Can it handle outdoor use? Yes, on sidewalks and paths; the flat-free tires won’t puncture.
Before You Order: A Quick Checklist
Run through these before you buy the Karman LT-700T:
- Hip width: measure across the widest part of the hips while seated, then add about 1″ to 2″ for the seat width.
- Doorways: measure the narrowest door the chair must pass, usually the bathroom, and compare it with the chair’s open width.
- Car trunk: check the folded size against your trunk opening if the chair will travel.
- Who pushes: decide whether the rider will self-propel or a caregiver will push most of the time.
- Time in the chair: anyone sitting more than a couple of hours a day should add a pressure-relief wheelchair cushion.
Accessories That Pair Well
Most riders add one or two accessories once the chair arrives. Popular choices are a seat cushion for comfort and pressure relief, a bag for daily essentials from our wheelchair bags, and a cup holder. Many riders add a cushion to the nylon seat for longer days.
Sizing & Fit
Choose 16″ x 16″ for smaller riders, 18″ x 16″ for most adults, or 20″ x 16″ for larger riders. Hips should have about an inch each side. Call 585-505-6665 if you need help.
Care & Cleaning
Wipe the nylon with mild soap and water and check wheel locks and footrest latches regularly.
What’s Included
One Karman LT-700T wheelchair in the seat size you choose, with swing-away footrests or elevating legrests as selected.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
