Who This Divided Leg Sling Is Best For
This divided leg sling for hoyer lift use is designed for a broad range of patients who need secure support during transfers. It is especially useful when caregivers need a sling that balances general transfer support with easier toileting access and flexible positioning.
✔️ Totally dependent patients needing full lift assistance
✔️ Partially dependent users with limited participation
✔️ Non-weight-bearing individuals
✔️ Very heavy users within the 450 lb capacity

Comfort, Stability & Safety Design

✔️ Fully padded for added comfort

How to Choose the Right Size
Choosing the proper divided leg sling size is important for both safety and comfort. The right size helps the patient stay securely positioned in the sling while reducing the risk of excessive sliding, poor leg support, or improper seating posture during transfer.
✔️ Choose based on the patient’s weight and body shape
✔️ Make sure the sling supports the thighs and back properly
✔️ The patient should sit securely without excessive sagging
✔️ Straps should connect evenly without over-tightening
✔️ When between sizes, confirm fit carefully before regular use
In general, Small is better for more petite users, Medium fits many average adult patients, Large works for broader body types, and X-Large is often more appropriate for heavier or bariatric users within the sling’s weight capacity. Because body proportions vary, both weight and overall body frame should be considered when selecting the best size.
Why Choose a Divided Leg Sling Like This
A quality divided leg sling offers excellent versatility for everyday patient handling. It helps support safe transfers, improves caregiver efficiency, and gives better toileting access than many more enclosed sling styles.
✔️ Supports a wide range of patient needs
✔️ Helps improve seated transfer positioning
✔️ Makes toileting access easier
✔️ Reduces caregiver transfer strain
✔️ Improves confidence during daily lifting routines
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is a divided leg sling used for?
A divided leg sling is used for patient transfers such as moving from a bed to a wheelchair, recliner, or shower chair. Its separated leg sections help support the legs individually, which can improve positioning, transfer security, and comfort during seated lifting.
Is a divided leg sling the same as a U sling?
In many cases, yes. A divided leg sling is often commonly referred to as a U sling because of the way it fits under and around the patient. The key feature is that the leg sections are separated, allowing more flexibility and easier transfer positioning.
Who is this sling best for?
This sling is best for users who are totally dependent, partially dependent, non-weight-bearing, very heavy, or who have limited head control. It is designed as a general-purpose transfer sling for a wide range of care needs.
Can this sling be used for toileting?
Yes. This sling includes a large opening that helps allow easier toileting access, which makes it more practical for hygiene-related transfers than many more enclosed sling styles.
What lifts is this sling compatible with?
The Invacare Divided Leg Sling is designed for use with compatible Invacare lifts including the Reliant 450, Reliant 600, Jasmine, BRDXPLUS, and 9805P models. Always verify compatibility before use.
What is the weight capacity of this sling?
This sling has a 450 lb weight capacity, making it suitable for many standard and higher-support patient transfer needs within the manufacturer guidelines.
How do I choose the right sling size?
Choose the size based on the patient’s weight, body frame, and how securely the sling supports the thighs, back, and seated posture. A sling that is too small may feel restrictive, while a sling that is too large may reduce positioning security. This product is available in Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large.
Can this sling be used in wet environments?
Yes. The polyester material can be used in wet or dry environments, making it suitable for transfers involving shower chairs or other care situations where moisture may be present.
Is this the best sling for every patient?
Not always. A divided leg sling for hoyer lift use is very versatile, but some patients may need more complete support. If the patient requires fuller head, trunk, or body containment, a full body sling may be the better option. If hygiene access is the top priority, a dedicated toileting sling may also be worth exploring.
