Description

Lumex Walkabout Allura Rollator – Aluminum Rollator with Removable Back, Standard or Tall

The Lumex Allura rollator (Walkabout Allura) is a lightweight aluminum rollator with removable back support, made for people who want steady four-wheel support on walks and a comfortable place to sit when they need a break. It has a wide 18″ padded seat, a flexible padded back you can take off, ergonomic handgrips, loop brakes and large 8″ casters for indoor and outdoor use. Lumex rates it for users up to 300 lbs.

It also comes as a tall rollator walker. The Allura LX raises the seat to 26″ and the handles to 42″, and Lumex sizes it for users about 6’2″ to 6’8″ tall. The standard Allura has a 21.8″ seat height and handles from 33″ to 38″, for users about 5’4″ to 6’2″. Both come in Apple Red or Black, and you pick the version and color from the dropdowns above.

The frame folds side to side on a cross brace, to just 13″ wide for a closet or the trunk. A removable carry pouch holds your phone, keys and wallet, and a cane holder on the side keeps a cane with you when you switch between the two.

Why Choose the Lumex Walkabout Allura?

Most rollators come in one height and expect taller people to make do with a low seat and handles that are too short. The Allura comes in a true tall version from the factory, so a 6’4″ user gets a seat and handles that actually fit instead of a frame that makes them stoop.

The rest of the design is about comfort on longer outings: a roomy 18″ padded seat, a padded back that flexes with you instead of a hard bar, and 8″ casters that roll over sidewalk seams and thresholds without catching. The back comes off when you don’t want it, and the side-to-side fold keeps the frame compact.

Who Is the Lumex Allura Rollator Best For?

The Allura is a good fit for:

  • Adults who can walk on their own but tire out and need to sit down partway through an errand
  • Taller users, especially those over 6 feet, who need higher handles and a higher seat (the Allura LX)
  • People who want a wide, padded seat and a soft back to lean on while they rest
  • Shoppers and walkers who split time between indoor floors and outdoor sidewalks
  • Anyone who carries a cane for part of the day and wants a place to keep it

Not sure a rollator is the right type of walker? Our Complete Walker Buying Guide compares the options, and the Walker Assessment Tool walks you through a few questions to narrow it down.

Who May Need a Different Rollator?

  • Users over 300 lbs: choose a bariatric rollator with a higher weight rating, such as the Lumex Walkabout Imperial Bariatric Rollator.
  • People who lean heavily on their walker for balance: a rollator rolls freely, so a standard walker that you lift or slide may be steadier. Ask your therapist if you’re unsure.
  • People with strength or control in only one hand: two-hand loop brakes may be hard to manage. The Lumex Walkabout Four-Wheel Hemi Rollator is built for one-handed use.
  • Anyone who needs to be pushed while seated: a rollator isn’t a wheelchair. Look at a transport chair instead.

300 lb Weight Capacity

Lumex rates both the Allura and the Allura LX for users up to 300 lbs. That covers walking with the rollator and sitting on the seat. If the user is close to 300 lbs or expects to go over it, a bariatric rollator is the safer choice.

Handle Height: 33″ to 38″ Standard, 37″ to 42″ on the LX

The handles adjust with simple push buttons. On the standard Allura they set anywhere from 33″ to 38″ off the floor. On the Allura LX they go from 37″ up to 42″. To check fit, stand up straight in your everyday shoes, let your arms hang relaxed at your sides and measure from the floor to the crease of your wrist. That number is about where the handles should sit, so your elbows bend slightly and you stand upright instead of hunching forward.

Wide 18″ Padded Seat With a Flexible, Removable Back

The seat is 18″ wide and 9.4″ deep and has a fold-up handle. The seat sits 21.8″ off the floor on the standard Allura and 26″ on the Allura LX. Behind it is a flexible, padded back support that gives a little when you lean into it, and it’s removable when you’d rather not have it.

Large 8″ Casters for Indoors and Out

All four casters are 8″ across. Bigger wheels roll over door thresholds, rugs, curb cuts and cracked sidewalks more easily than the small wheels found on many basic walkers, and Lumex lists the Allura for both indoor and outdoor use.

Quick-Stop Loop Brakes: Pull Up to Stop, Push Down to Lock

The Allura uses Lumex’s loop brakes. Pull the loops up to slow down or stop, and push them down to lock the wheels in place. Always lock the brakes before you sit, and before you stand back up.

Cross-Brace Frame That Folds Side to Side

Instead of folding front to back, the Allura’s cross-brace frame folds side to side, and Lumex notes the cross brace also adds stability when it’s open. To fold it, pull up the strap in the middle of the seat to release the seat, then push the handles together. Folded upright, it’s just 13″ wide. The standard Allura weighs 18.5 lbs and the Allura LX 19.1 lbs, so it’s easy to lift into a trunk or back seat.

Choosing Your Options

There are two dropdowns: Model and Color. The only difference between the two models is height (and 0.6 lb of weight). The seat width, frame, brakes, wheels, storage bag and cane holder are the same.

Model Seat height Handle height User height (Lumex) Graham-Field code
Allura (standard) 21.8″ 33″ to 38″ About 5’4″ to 6’2″ LX5000A (Apple Red), LX5000BK (Black)
Allura LX (tall) 26″ 37″ to 42″ About 6’2″ to 6’8″ LX5000LXA (Apple Red), LX5000LXBK (Black)

How to pick the model: start with height. Lumex sizes the standard Allura for users about 5’4″ to 6’2″ and the Allura LX for about 6’2″ to 6’8″. Then check the handles: stand up straight in your everyday shoes, let your arms hang relaxed at your sides and measure from the floor to the crease of your wrist. Between 33″ and 38″ fits the standard model; above 38″ calls for the LX. If you’re right around 6’2″, pick the one whose seat height lets you sit with feet flat on the floor and stand up without struggling, or call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll help.

Color: Apple Red or Black. The color doesn’t change any measurement, so choose the one you like.

Lumex Allura vs. Lumex Walkabout Contour Deluxe

Both are lightweight Lumex aluminum rollators rated for 300 lbs with 8″ wheels and loop brakes. The Contour Deluxe is the simpler, lighter choice at 16.5 lbs, with a 14″ padded seat, a removable padded backbar and a basket. The Allura gives you a wider 18″ seat, a flexible padded back instead of a bar, a storage bag and cane holder, a side-to-side fold and, most importantly, a tall LX version. If the user is tall or wants more room to sit, the Allura is the one to choose.

Common Problem → Lumex Allura Solution

Problem: Dad is 6’4″ and his old rollator is too short. He stoops over the handles, his back aches after one lap around the block, and when he sits on the seat his knees end up higher than his hips.

Solution: The Allura LX sets the handles as high as 42″ so he can walk upright, and its 26″ seat height lets him sit and stand without dropping low. The 8″ casters handle the sidewalk, and the cane holder keeps his cane with him for the steps at home.

“Will the tall version still fold for our car?” Yes. The Allura LX folds side to side on the same cross-brace frame as the standard model.

Sizing & Fit

  • User height (Lumex): standard Allura about 5’4″ to 6’2″; Allura LX about 6’2″ to 6’8″.
  • Handle height: measure floor to wrist crease in everyday shoes. Standard 33″ to 38″; LX 37″ to 42″.
  • Seat height: standard 21.8″; LX 26″. The user should sit with feet flat and knees about level with the hips.
  • Doorways and hallways: 26″ wide overall and 28.5″ deep when open. Make sure your narrowest doorway is wider than 26″.
  • Storage: 13″ wide folded upright; 36.4″ long folded down flat.
  • Hand room: 17″ between the handgrips.
  • Weight: the user should be under 300 lbs, evenly distributed.

Care & Cleaning

Lumex’s manual keeps it simple: clean the frame, handles and wheels with a clean, soft cloth and warm water, then rinse and let it air dry. Don’t use solvents or other cleaning solutions on the frame or the fabric. Check that all nuts, bolts and knobs are snug once a week, and inspect the rollator weekly for wear. If the brakes don’t hold the rollator firmly when locked, stop using it and call us at 585-505-6665. Never use the Allura on stairs or escalators.

What’s Included

According to Lumex’s manual, each box contains the rollator frame with front and rear wheels, the backrest, the storage bag and 2 front locking knobs. The cane holder is mounted on the side of the frame, and Lumex includes a user manual with assembly, operation and care instructions.

Warranty

Graham-Field’s limited warranty on the Allura covers the frame for 5 years and all other components for 1 year, from the date of shipment, for the original purchaser. Items Graham-Field treats as wear parts, such as casters, aren’t covered. As an authorized Graham-Field dealer, we’ll handle the claim with you. Graham-Field also sells replacement parts for the Allura, including handgrips, wheels, the seat, the back assembly, brake assemblies, the pouch and the cane holder, so ask us if you ever need one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Lumex Walkabout Allura Rollator?

It’s a lightweight aluminum rollator with a wide 18″ padded seat, a flexible padded back you can remove, loop brakes and 8″ casters, rated for 300 lbs. It comes in a standard height and a tall Allura LX version, each in Apple Red or Black.

What’s the difference between the Allura and the Allura LX?

Only the height. The standard Allura has a 21.8″ seat and handles from 33″ to 38″; the Allura LX has a 26″ seat and handles from 37″ to 42″. Lumex sizes the LX for users about 6’2″ to 6’8″. Everything else is the same.

How much weight can the Allura hold?

Lumex rates the Allura and the Allura LX for up to 300 lbs. If the user weighs more, choose a bariatric rollator with a higher rating.

Will the Allura fit my height?

Most likely, because it comes in two heights. Lumex sizes the standard Allura for users about 5’4″ to 6’2″ (handles 33″ to 38″) and the Allura LX for about 6’2″ to 6’8″ (handles 37″ to 42″). To fine-tune, stand up straight in your everyday shoes, let your arms hang relaxed at your sides and measure from the floor to the crease of your wrist and match that number to the handle range.

Will it fit through my doorways?

The Allura is 26″ wide overall and 28.5″ deep. Measure your narrowest doorway, hallway and bathroom entry; if each is wider than 26″, it will fit through.

How do the brakes work?

Pull the loop brakes up to slow down or stop, and push them down to lock the wheels. Lock them every time before you sit down or stand up.

Can I take the back off?

Yes. The flexible, padded back support is removable, so you can use the Allura with or without it.

Does the Allura fold for the car?

Yes. Pull up the strap in the middle of the seat and push the handles together; it folds side to side to just 13″ wide. It weighs 18.5 lbs (19.1 lbs for the LX).

Can I use the Allura outside?

Yes. Lumex lists its large 8″ casters for indoor and outdoor use, so it handles sidewalks, parking lots and store floors.

Can someone push me while I’m sitting on it?

No. A rollator’s seat is for resting while it’s parked with the brakes locked, not for riding. If you need to be pushed, use a transport chair or wheelchair.

What’s the warranty?

Graham-Field covers the Allura’s frame for 5 years and all other components for 1 year, for the original purchaser. Call us and we’ll help with any claim.

Does Medicare cover a rollator?

Medicare Part B may help cover a walker or rollator as durable medical equipment when your doctor prescribes it. Coverage depends on your plan and the supplier, so check with your plan before you order.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
