A medical step stool gives a patient one safe step up to an exam table or a tall bed. A physician stool is the rolling, height-adjustable seat the clinician uses during the exam. We carry both, from McKesson, Drive Medical and Graham-Field.
What to Look For
Handrail or no handrail
For older patients, anyone unsteady on their feet, or use at home beside a high bed, choose a stool with a handrail, like the Drive 1-Step Stool with Handrail or the McKesson 1-Step Stool with Handrail. In a busy exam room where staff help every patient up, the plain Drive 1-Step Stool costs less and takes less space.
Weight capacity
Our standard step stools hold 300 to 350 lb. Check the rating on each product page against the heaviest patient who will use it.
Physician stools: seat, base and back
Look at the height range, whether you want a backrest, and the base. The Graham-Field 9501 has a composite base and comes in many upholstery colors; the Graham-Field 9702 adds an aluminum base. The McKesson Pneumatic Exam Stool has a contoured backrest and a 16″ padded seat with 4″ of foam.
