Description
Lumex Imperial Collection Dual-Release Extra-Wide Folding Walker With 5″ Front Wheels
The Lumex Imperial Collection extra wide folding walker gives a larger user more room inside the frame and a sturdy base to lean on. Lumex rates it for 600 lbs, evenly distributed, and this version comes with 5″ wheels on the front legs so it rolls forward instead of having to be lifted with every step.
It’s a bariatric folding walker with 20″ between the handgrips and 23″ between the rear legs, so there’s space to step into the frame without bumping your hips. The height adjusts from 31″ to 38″ for users about 5’4″ to 6’2″, and the dual-release frame folds down to just 4″ deep for the car or a closet.
If you’ve been looking for a wide walker for a heavy person that still folds, this is the one we’d point you to. It comes with laminated color operating instructions and a three-year limited warranty from Lumex.
Why Choose the Imperial Collection Extra-Wide Walker?
Standard folding walkers are built narrow and rated for about half the weight. This one is wider and deeper in every direction: 26 1/8″ across overall, 18″ from front to back, 20″ between the hand grips. That extra room means the user can walk inside the frame naturally instead of shuffling behind it. The 5″ front wheels take the lifting out of each step, and the walker still folds flat when it’s time to travel.
Who Is the Imperial Extra-Wide Walker Best For?
It’s a good fit for:
- Larger adults up to 600 lbs who need a walker they can put real weight on
- People who feel cramped in a standard walker or catch their hips on the frame
- Users between about 5’4″ and 6’2″ tall
- Anyone who finds it tiring to pick up a walker for every step and wants front wheels
- Families who need it to fold for the car between appointments
New to walkers? Our Walker Knowledge Base covers fit, safety and everyday use in plain language.
Who May Need a Different Walker?
- Users who want a seat and hand brakes: a bariatric rollator is the better match. See the Lumex Walkabout Imperial Bariatric Rollator.
- Users under about 5’4″ or over 6’2″: the handgrips adjust from 31″ to 38″. If your wrist-crease height is outside that range, call us.
- Users over 600 lbs: call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll help you find a walker rated higher.
- People with use of only one hand: a hemi walker or a quad cane is easier to control.
- Tight homes: it’s 26 1/8″ wide overall, so check doorways and hallways first.
600 lb Weight Capacity
Lumex rates the Imperial Collection extra-wide walker for a maximum of 600 lbs, evenly distributed. That’s double what most standard folding walkers carry.
20″ Between the Handgrips, 23″ Between the Rear Legs
Lumex increased both the width and the depth of the frame to fit larger users. There’s 20″ of space between the handgrips and 23″ between the rear legs, and the frame is 18″ deep from front to back.
5″ Fixed Front Wheels
This model comes with 5″ fixed wheels on the front. Fixed means they roll straight ahead and don’t swivel, which keeps the walker tracking in a line. The user pushes the walker forward instead of lifting it, which saves a lot of effort over a long hallway.
Dual-Release Folding, 4″ Deep When Folded
The dual-release frame folds down to only 4″ deep, so it slides behind a car seat, into a trunk or against a closet wall. Lumex includes laminated color operating instructions that show how to fold and unfold it.
Extra-Wide Folding Walker vs. Bariatric Rollator
A walker like this one has no hand brakes and no seat, and its back legs stay on the floor. That makes it steady when you lean your weight on it, which many people want after a fall or surgery. A bariatric rollator such as the Lumex Walkabout Imperial has four wheels, hand brakes and a seat to rest on, but it rolls more freely and asks more of the user’s balance. If steady support matters most, choose the walker; if sitting down during outings matters most, look at the rollator.
Common Problem → Imperial Extra-Wide Walker Solution
Problem: After knee surgery, Robert was sent home with a standard folding walker. His hips rub the side bars, he doesn’t trust it with his weight, and lifting it for every step wears him out by the end of the hallway.
Solution: The Imperial Collection extra-wide walker gives him 20″ between the handgrips and 23″ between the rear legs, and it’s rated for 600 lbs. The 5″ front wheels let him push it ahead instead of lifting it.
“Can we still take it in the car?” Yes. It folds down to 4″ deep, so it fits in a trunk or behind a seat.
Sizing & Fit
- Handgrip height: stand tall in everyday shoes, arms relaxed, and measure from the floor to your wrist crease. It should fall between 31″ and 38″.
- User height: about 5’4″ to 6’2″, per Lumex.
- Room inside the frame: 20″ between the handgrips, 23″ between the rear legs.
- Doorways: 26 1/8″ wide overall and 18″ deep. Doorways on your route should be wider than 26 1/8″.
- Folded: 4″ deep.
- Weight: 600 lbs maximum, evenly distributed.
Care & Cleaning
Follow the laminated operating instructions that come with the walker. As general care, wipe the frame with a damp cloth and mild soap, keep the wheels clear of hair and debris, and check that the frame locks open and the height buttons are fully engaged before every use. If anything feels loose, stop using the walker and call us at 585-505-6665.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
