Description

Joerns Hoyer Standing Harness – Hoyer Standing Harness Sling for Standing, Walking and Toileting, 500 lb

The Joerns Hoyer standing harness is a standing harness sling for Hoyer passive patient lifts with the 6-point spreader bar. It wraps the upper body and supports under the arms so a patient who can partially bear weight can stand, take steps or use the toilet with the lift as the anchor. Joerns rates it for a 500 lb safe working load.

Think of it as a walking harness for Hoyer lift users and a gait training sling for therapy: the lift takes the strain, the patient works their legs. It comes in four color-coded sizes (Pediatric/XS, Small, Medium and Large), each with its own Joerns part number, in washable polyester.

It’s a Joerns sling for Joerns lifts: the Hoyer Presence, Hoyer Stature and Hoyer Advance all use the 6-point bar it’s made for. Pick your size in the dropdown above.

Why Choose the Hoyer Standing Harness?

It’s the Hoyer sling for the in-between patient: someone who can take some weight on their legs but can’t stand or walk safely without support. Joerns builds it for standing, walking and toileting, rates it for 500 lbs, and makes it from washable polyester with color-coded loops so caregivers can hook it to the 6-point spreader bar the same way every time. It’s a genuine Joerns part, made for Hoyer lifts, and Joerns backs it with a 12-month warranty.

Who Is the Hoyer Standing Harness Best For?

The standing harness is a good fit for:

  • Patients who can partially bear weight and are working on standing or walking
  • Toileting transfers where a full-body sling gets in the way
  • Homes and facilities that already own a Hoyer lift with the 6-point spreader bar: Presence, Stature, Advance and the HPL series
  • Therapy and gait-training sessions where a caregiver wants the lift as a safety net

Not sure a standing harness is the right sling type? Our patient lift sling knowledge base walks through the sling families, and the sling assessment tool helps you narrow it down.

Who May Need a Different Sling?

  • Patients who cannot bear any weight: Joerns says the harness is not a general-purpose sling and requires partial weight bearing. A full-body or full back sling is the safer choice.
  • Stand-aid lift owners: the Hoyer Journey and Hoyer Elevate use their own standing slings, not this harness.
  • Lifts without a 6-point spreader bar: Joerns lists the harness only for the Hoyer 6-point bar. Call us if your lift has a 2-point bar or a clip cradle.
  • Patients over 350 lbs: the sling is rated for 500 lbs, but the largest size on the chart tops out at 350 lbs. Ask us about options.

500 lb Safe Working Load

Joerns rates the standing harness for a safe working load of 500 lbs (227 kg) in every size, tested to BS EN ISO 10535. The lift’s own rating still applies, so the lower of the two numbers is your limit.

Built for Standing, Walking and Toileting

The harness wraps the upper body and supports under the arms, which leaves the lower body free. That’s why Joerns lists it for standing, walking and visiting the toilet rather than for seated transfers.

Made for the Hoyer 6-Point Spreader Bar

Joerns is specific: the standing harness is only suitable for the Oxford/Hoyer 6-point spreader bar. The patient’s arms go through the loop straps, and the colored loops hook onto the side hooks of the bar, same color on both sides.

Two Safety Clasps and Adjustable Leg Supports

Two adjustable safety clasps close the harness at the chest; Joerns says the fit should be snug, not tight. The leg supports clip to a retaining ring at the bottom of the harness and adjust in length for comfort.

Choosing Your Options

Pick the size in the dropdown. Each size has its own Joerns part number and a color-coded binding so caregivers can read the size at a glance. The weight ranges below are Joerns’ recommended guideline from the Hoyer sling chart.

Size Joerns Code Color Recommended Weight (Joerns)
Pediatric (XS) NA26600 Brown 35 to 125 lbs
Small NA26601 Red 75 to 150 lbs
Medium NA26602 Yellow 125 to 200 lbs
Large NA26603 Green 175 to 350 lbs

Joerns lists an Extra Large (blue) as a special order only; call us if you need it.

Standing Harness vs. a Full Back Sling

A full back sling carries the whole body and works for patients who can’t help at all. The standing harness carries the upper body only and needs the patient to take part of their own weight. If the goal is to keep someone standing and moving, the harness is the tool; if the goal is a safe seated transfer, stay with a full-body sling.

Common Problem → Standing Harness Solution

Problem: a patient can take some weight on their legs, but two caregivers are still needed to keep them upright for toileting or a few steps of walking.
Solution: with the harness on the lift’s 6-point spreader bar, the lift holds the upper body steady while the patient uses their legs, and one caregiver guides.
Does the patient have to be able to stand on their own? No, but Joerns says they must be able to partially bear weight, and a risk assessment comes first.

Sizing & Fit

Start with the Joerns weight range, then measure. The brochure gives the harness length (the “A” dimension) as a range per size: XS 11.8″ to 16.1″, Small 15.3″ to 23.2″, Medium 21.2″ to 29.1″, Large 34.4″ to 42.3″. The harness width (“B”) is 4.3″ on XS and Small and 6.3″ on Medium and Large. Joerns says the weight range is a guideline only, so if you’re between sizes, call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll help.

Care & Cleaning

Joerns says: machine wash warm, up to 185°F (85°C), no bleach, then cool tumble dry, air dry or dry at very low heat. Check the sling and stitching before each use. A bleached, torn, cut, frayed or broken sling is unsafe; destroy and discard it, and never alter a sling.

What’s Included

One Hoyer Standing Harness in the size you choose. The Joerns user guide shows the leg supports attaching to the harness with safety clasps; ask us to confirm what ships in the box before you order.

Warranty

Joerns warrants Hoyer Pro slings for 12 months after purchase by the original owner, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Wear and tear, neglect and any alteration aren’t covered. We’re an authorized Joerns dealer, so call us with any claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hoyer standing harness used for?

It’s a standing and walking harness for Hoyer patient lifts. Joerns describes it as a versatile sling for assisting with standing and walking or visiting the toilet. It supports the patient around the upper body and under the arms, and the patient has to be able to partially bear weight.

Which Hoyer lifts does the standing harness work with?

It works with Hoyer lifts that have the 6-point spreader bar. Joerns lists the Advance, Presence, Stature, HPL450, HPL500, HPL700, Calibre and Elara on the sling chart, and the user guide says the harness is only suitable for the Oxford/Hoyer 6-point spreader bar. We sell the Hoyer Presence, Hoyer Stature and Hoyer Advance; call us at 585-505-6665 to confirm your bar before you order.

Is this a sit-to-stand lift sling?

No. It’s a loop sling for passive floor lifts with a 6-point spreader bar, not for a stand aid such as the Hoyer Journey or Hoyer Elevate. For those lifts you need a standing sling made for them; ask us if you aren’t sure which one.

How much weight can the Hoyer standing harness hold?

Joerns rates it for a safe working load of 500 lbs (227 kg). Never exceed the rating of the sling or the lift, whichever is lower.

How do I pick the right size?

Go by the recommended weight range on the Joerns chart, then check the harness length: Pediatric/XS 35 to 125 lbs, Small 75 to 150 lbs, Medium 125 to 200 lbs, Large 175 to 350 lbs. Joerns says the weight range is only a guideline, so measure the chest and compare with the harness length in our Sizing section. If you land between sizes, call us.

Is the Pediatric size the same as Extra Small?

Yes. NA26600 is labelled Pediatric (brown) in the Joerns user guide and price list, and XS (brown) on the Joerns sling chart. Same sling, same brown color code.

Does it come with leg supports?

The Joerns user guide shows leg supports that attach to the harness with a safety clasp at the retaining ring and adjust in length. Ask us to confirm exactly what’s in the box for your size before you order.

Can the patient walk in the harness?

Yes, assisting with walking is one of the uses Joerns lists, along with standing and toileting. The patient must be able to partially bear weight, and Joerns calls for a full risk assessment before any sling is used.

Can I wash the standing harness?

Yes. Joerns says machine wash warm, up to 185°F (85°C), with no bleach, then cool tumble dry, air dry or dry at very low heat. Check the sling and stitching before every use and discard a worn, torn or frayed sling.

Will it fit a lift from another brand?

Joerns says Hoyer slings and lifts aren’t designed to be interchangeable with other manufacturers’ products, and that using them together is potentially unsafe. Use it on a Hoyer 6-point spreader bar.

What is the warranty on the Hoyer standing harness?

Joerns warrants Hoyer Pro slings for 12 months after purchase by the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear and tear and any alteration aren’t covered.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We ship Joerns and Hoyer slings fast nationwide, delivered to your door. Call 585-505-6665 if you want help choosing the size or confirming your spreader bar.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
