Description
Medical Bed Trapeze Bar for Repositioning & Assisted Bed Mobility
The Invacare Fixed Offset Medical Bed Trapeze Bar 7740A provides an overhead support handle for individuals who can use their upper-body strength to assist with repositioning, changing position in bed, and bedside mobility. Its heavy-gauge octagonal steel construction, two-piece design, and 250 lb safe working load make it a durable support option for homecare bed users.
The trapeze can be installed on an Invacare Homecare bed head section or paired with the compatible Invacare 7714P floor stand. This gives caregivers and families two installation possibilities depending on the bed and room configuration.
A horizontal bar built into the trapeze handle provides an additional gripping position, while the fixed-offset design positions the handle over the bed where an appropriate user can reach it. Wall bumpers and padded mounting brackets help protect the bed ends and nearby wall surfaces.
For buyers searching for a medical bed trapeze bar or bed trapeze for elderly users, the Invacare 7740A is particularly suited to someone who retains enough grip and upper-body ability to participate in their own bed mobility but benefits from a secure overhead handhold.
Why the Invacare 7740A Trapeze Stands Out
The Invacare 7740A combines a durable steel frame with a straightforward two-piece design and flexible installation options for compatible Invacare homecare equipment.
- ✔️ 250 lb safe working load
- ✔️ Heavy-gauge octagonal steel construction
- ✔️ Tool-less two-piece assembly
- ✔️ Added locking pin security
- ✔️ Additional horizontal grip bar
- ✔️ Compatible with 7714P floorstand
- ✔️ Mounts to Homecare bed head
- ✔️ Protective bumpers and mounting brackets
It is an especially practical choice when the goal is to provide an appropriate user with a stable handhold for participating in bed movement without moving to a larger bariatric trapeze system.
Designed Around Common Bed Mobility Problems
People looking for a medical bed trapeze bar are often not searching for another piece of hospital equipment simply for convenience. They are trying to solve a specific mobility problem.
Common questions include:
- ✔️ What helps reposition someone in bed?
- ✔️ How can elderly users move easier?
- ✔️ What helps with upper-body repositioning?
- ✔️ Can a trapeze attach to bed?
- ✔️ Is a freestanding base available?
- ✔️ Can someone pull themselves upward?
- ✔️ Which trapeze fits Invacare beds?
The Invacare 7740A addresses these needs by placing an overhead gripping point within reach of an appropriate user, allowing the person to use available upper-body strength to participate in movement rather than relying entirely on caregiver assistance.
How Does a Medical Bed Trapeze Bar Help?
A medical bed trapeze bar provides an elevated handhold above the bed. An appropriate user can grasp the trapeze and use available arm and upper-body strength to assist with movement and positioning.
Depending on the individual’s abilities, a bed trapeze may help with:
- ✔️ Repositioning while lying in bed
- ✔️ Changing upper-body position
- ✔️ Adjusting position before sitting
- ✔️ Moving toward the bed edge
- ✔️ Participating in caregiver-assisted movement
- ✔️ Improving independence with bed mobility
The trapeze is an assistive device. It is not designed to independently lift, suspend, or transfer the entire weight of a patient.
Two Installation Options for Greater Flexibility
A major advantage of the Invacare 7740A is its ability to work in more than one compatible configuration.
According to the manufacturer specifications, the trapeze can be used:
- ✔️ On Invacare Homecare bed head section
- ✔️ With Invacare 7714P floor stand
Mounting to a compatible Homecare bed head section provides a direct bed-mounted configuration. When a freestanding configuration is needed, the trapeze can instead be paired with the Invacare 7714P floor stand.
Important: The 7714P floor stand is a separate component and should not be assumed to be included with the 7740A trapeze unless specifically stated in the selected package.
Heavy-Gauge Octagonal Steel Construction
The Invacare Fixed Offset Trapeze is constructed from heavy-gauge octagonal steel for added durability and structural support.
This construction is particularly important for equipment that may be repeatedly grasped and used throughout the day for bed mobility.
Key structural features include:
- ✔️ Heavy-gauge steel construction
- ✔️ Durable octagonal frame design
- ✔️ Two-piece trapeze assembly
- ✔️ Added locking pin
- ✔️ 250 lb safe working load
Horizontal Handle Bar Provides Additional Grip
The trapeze handle includes a horizontal bar that provides an additional gripping position. This gives the user another surface to grasp while participating in repositioning or other appropriate bed mobility movements.
A well-positioned gripping surface is particularly important for users who depend on their arms and upper body to assist with movement.
The handle can help provide a defined gripping point for:
- ✔️ In-bed repositioning
- ✔️ Upper-body movement
- ✔️ Bed mobility assistance
- ✔️ Position adjustment
- ✔️ Assisted movement preparation
Tool-Less Two-Piece Assembly
The Invacare 7740A uses a two-piece design that assembles without tools, helping simplify initial setup and equipment handling.
The two sections are secured with an added locking pin for extra safety. This provides a straightforward assembly method while ensuring the components are properly secured together during use.
- ✔️ Two-piece trapeze construction
- ✔️ No tools required
- ✔️ Quick assembly design
- ✔️ Added locking pin
- ✔️ Simplified equipment setup
Always follow the manufacturer’s assembly and installation instructions and verify that all components are correctly secured before use.
250 lb Safe Working Load
The Invacare Fixed Offset Trapeze 7740A has a safe working load of 250 lbs.
This rating should be considered together with the user’s mobility, grip strength, upper-body ability, and intended use. The trapeze is intended to provide assistance to an individual who can actively participate in movement.
Never exceed the manufacturer’s 250 lb safe working load. If a higher-capacity trapeze is required, a bariatric model designed for the appropriate assisted capacity should be selected instead.
Bed Trapeze for Elderly & Limited-Mobility Users
A bed trapeze for elderly users can be particularly helpful when a person has difficulty repositioning in bed but still has enough grip and upper-body strength to participate in movement.
For an appropriate older adult, the Invacare 7740A may provide useful support when:
- ✔️ Repositioning has become more difficult
- ✔️ Bed mobility requires additional support
- ✔️ Upper-body strength remains functional
- ✔️ Caregiver assistance is sometimes needed
- ✔️ A secure overhead grip helps
Age by itself does not determine whether a bed trapeze is appropriate. The person must be able to safely grasp the handle and actively participate in the intended movement.
Wall Bumpers & Padded Mounting Brackets
The Invacare trapeze incorporates wall bumpers and padded mounting brackets designed to help protect surrounding surfaces during installation and use.
The protective components help reduce direct contact with:
- ✔️ Bed ends
- ✔️ Wall surfaces
- ✔️ Compatible mounting areas
This is a practical detail for homecare environments where the bed and trapeze may be positioned close to bedroom walls.
Who Is the Invacare 7740A Best For?
The Invacare Fixed Offset Medical Bed Trapeze may be a strong option for users who can actively participate in their own bed mobility but benefit from an overhead support handle.
Potential users and settings include:
- ✔️ Seniors with reduced bed mobility
- ✔️ Homecare bed users
- ✔️ Rehabilitation patients
- ✔️ Individuals with functional upper-body strength
- ✔️ Users needing repositioning assistance
- ✔️ Caregiver-assisted home environments
- ✔️ Compatible Invacare Homecare beds
- ✔️ Users requiring 250 lb capacity
For users who require full-body lifting or cannot safely participate in their own movement, a different transfer solution may be necessary.
Who May Need a Different Mobility Solution?
A medical bed trapeze is not appropriate for every user. Another form of transfer or positioning equipment may be required when:
- ✔️ User cannot securely grip handle
- ✔️ Upper-body strength is insufficient
- ✔️ Full-body lifting is required
- ✔️ User cannot participate in movement
- ✔️ Weight exceeds 250 lbs.
- ✔️ Bed configuration is incompatible
If the individual requires substantial or complete assistance during transfers, an appropriately selected patient lift and sling system may be more suitable than a trapeze.
Invacare 7740A vs. Freestanding Trapeze System
Mounted Invacare 7740A
- ✔️ Uses compatible Homecare bed head
- ✔️ No separate floorstand required
- ✔️ 250 lb safe working load
- ✔️ Fixed-offset trapeze design
- ✔️ Tool-less assembly
7740A With 7714P Floorstand
- ✔️ Creates floor-supported configuration
- ✔️ Uses compatible 7714P floorstand
- ✔️ Does not require bed mounting
- ✔️ Floorstand is separate component
- ✔️ Same compatible trapeze assembly
The correct configuration depends on the bed and installation requirements. Buyers who intend to use the trapeze without mounting it to a compatible Invacare Homecare bed should confirm that they also have or purchase the appropriate 7714P floor stand.
Medical Bed Trapeze Bar vs. Patient Lift
Invacare Medical Bed Trapeze Bar
- ✔️ User actively participates
- ✔️ Uses upper-body strength
- ✔️ Supports in-bed repositioning
- ✔️ Provides overhead handhold
- ✔️ Does not fully lift patient
Patient Lift
- ✔️ Designed for patient transfers
- ✔️ Uses compatible lifting sling
- ✔️ Provides greater transfer assistance
- ✔️ Supports patient during lifting
- ✔️ Different mobility equipment category
A trapeze should never be treated as a substitute for a patient lift when the individual needs to be fully supported or lifted during a transfer.

Can the Invacare 7740A be used with a floor stand?
Yes. The 7740A is designed to work with the Invacare 7714P floor stand, providing another installation option when a compatible floor-supported configuration is needed.
Is the 7714P floor stand included?
No floor stand is identified as included with the 7740A in the provided product information. The 7714P is the compatible floor stand and should be purchased separately when needed unless a particular package specifically states otherwise.
Is this a good bed trapeze for elderly users?
It may be appropriate for an elderly person who retains sufficient grip and upper-body ability to safely participate in bed mobility. Age alone does not determine suitability; the individual’s functional abilities and care requirements should be considered.
Does the trapeze require tools for assembly?
No. The Invacare 7740A features easy, tool-less assembly.
How is the two-piece trapeze secured?
The two-piece design incorporates an added locking pin for extra safety.

Can this medical bed trapeze help someone sit up?
For an appropriate user with sufficient grip and upper-body strength, an overhead trapeze may provide leverage that assists with changing position and upper-body movement. Individual capability and safe use should determine whether the trapeze is suitable.
Can someone use this trapeze to reposition themselves in bed?
Yes, this is one of the primary applications of a medical bed trapeze. The user must have sufficient physical ability to safely grasp the handle and participate in the movement.
Does a bed trapeze replace caregiver assistance?
Not necessarily. A trapeze may allow an appropriate user to participate more actively in bed mobility, but the amount of caregiver assistance required depends on the individual’s abilities and care needs.
Is the Invacare 7740A a patient lift?
No. The 7740A is a medical bed trapeze bar, not a patient lift. It provides a handhold for assisted bed mobility and should not be used to suspend or fully lift a patient.
What if the user weighs more than 250 lbs.?
The manufacturer’s stated safe working load is 250 lbs. The rating should not be exceeded. A higher-capacity bariatric trapeze designed for the required weight should be considered instead.
What should I check before ordering?
Confirm the user’s weight and functional ability, determine whether the trapeze will mount to a compatible Invacare Homecare bed head section or be used with the 7714P floor stand, and verify that the intended configuration is appropriate for the user’s needs.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
