Description

Medacure Free Spirit FS400-STS – Manual Sit to Stand Lift for Quick, Seated Transfers

The Medacure Free Spirit FS400-STS is a manual sit to stand lift for patients who can bear some weight: they stand with help, sit on the rotating padded seat and are wheeled safely to the toilet, chair or bed. Read our sit-to-stand lift buying guide and the patient lift knowledge base before you choose.

As a sit to stand transfer aid with seat, it needs no sling for most transfers, and its hooks take optional slings or back straps when more support is needed.

Being a non powered stand assist, there is no battery to charge, and it is rated for 400 lbs. Questions? Call us at 585-505-6665.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ No Battery, No Sling Required
  • ✔️ Rotating Padded Seat
  • ✔️ 400 lb Weight Capacity
  • ✔️ Foot Pedal Base Opens 24″ to 32″
  • ✔️ Dual Padded Shin Pads and Non-Slip Footplate
  • ✔️ Dual Rear Locking Casters

Why a Manual Sit-to-Stand Lift?

Many patients can stand for a moment but cannot walk safely to the toilet or chair. A manual sit to stand lift turns that short stand into a safe, seated ride. There is no battery to charge and no sling to fit, so transfers are quick, simple and dignified, and the patient keeps using their own leg strength.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Patients up to 400 lbs who can bear some weight and grip the handles
  • Short transfers between bed, wheelchair, commode and toilet
  • Homes and facilities that want a simple, non-powered transfer aid
  • Caregivers looking to avoid lifting and twisting

Who May Need Something Else?

  • Patients who cannot bear weight: a full body lift such as the Medacure FS450-L electric or FS450-H hydraulic. See our patient lift buying guide.
  • Patients who need powered help to rise: the Medacure FS450STS-L or the bariatric FS600STS-L.
  • Pivot transfers in small spaces: the Medacure AT440 Assist and Turn.

Built for Real Homes

Bathrooms and bedrooms at home are tighter than in a facility. The FS400-STS is compact enough to reach the toilet in most bathrooms, and its rotating seat means the patient never has to shuffle or pivot on their own. It keeps one caregiver in control of the whole move.

Rotating Padded Seat

The molded, padded seat rotates upward for easy loading. Once the patient stands, the seat swings down behind them so they ride seated, with dual padded shin pads and a non-slip footplate holding them steady.

Grip, Control and Safety

Dual foam wrapped handles give both patient and caregiver a secure grip. Dual rear locking casters stop unwanted movement, and a cross bar adds stability during the transfer.

Compact, Hands-Free Base

The narrow build fits most standard doorways. A foot pedal opens the base from 24″ to 32″ without bending, and the modular frame assembles and disassembles without tools for storage or travel.

Manual vs Powered Sit-to-Stand

FS400-STS (manual) Powered sit-to-stand
Who rises the patient The patient, with caregiver help The lift motor
Sling Not required Stand assist sling required
Battery None Rechargeable battery
Best for Patients who can stand briefly on their own effort Patients who need help to rise
Weight Capacity 400 lbs 450 to 600 lbs (Medacure FS450STS-L, FS600STS-L)

Care and Upkeep

Wipe the seat, shin pads and handles with a mild disinfectant between patients and let them dry. Check the casters, brakes and seat pivot each week, and tighten any knobs that have loosened. Because there is no motor or battery, upkeep is simple and there is nothing to charge before a transfer.

Using It Safely

  1. Lock the rear casters and position the footplate close to the seated patient.
  2. Place the feet on the footplate with the shins against the pads.
  3. Have the patient hold the handles and stand with your help, as the care plan directs.
  4. Lower the seat behind them and let them sit.
  5. Unlock, wheel to the destination, lock, raise the seat and help them sit down.

What’s Included

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a manual sit to stand lift?

It is a non-powered transfer aid that lets a caregiver move a patient who can bear some weight from one seat to another. The patient stands with the caregiver’s help, the molded seat flips down behind them, and they are wheeled seated to the toilet, chair or bed.

Does the FS400-STS need a sling?

No. The padded rotating seat supports the patient during the move. Attachment hooks accept optional slings and back straps for patients who need extra support.

How much weight does it hold?

Medacure rates it for 400 lbs.

Will it fit through my doorways?

The base is 27″ wide overall and its compact build fits most standard doorways. A foot pedal adjusts the base width from 24″ to 32″ hands free.

Is it right for someone who cannot stand at all?

No. The patient must be able to bear some weight and hold the handles. For patients who cannot bear weight, use a full body lift such as the Medacure FS450-L or FS450-H.

Can it be taken apart for storage or travel?

Yes. Medacure describes a durable modular design that is easy to assemble and disassemble, so the frame can be broken down for storage or to move between homes.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
