Description
Joerns PrevaMatt Replacement Cover – The Zippered Hospital Bed Mattress Cover Made for Your PrevaMatt Foam Mattress
This is a hospital bed mattress cover, sold on its own: the zippered outer cover Joerns makes for its PrevaMatt foam mattress series. It is not a mattress. You’d order one when the cover on a PrevaMatt Basic, Defend, Console or Alleviate has torn, stained past cleaning, or lost its zipper, and the foam underneath is still in good shape. Joerns builds a different cover for each model, each style (flat or raised perimeter) and each size, so there are 24 options here, each with its own Joerns part number.
We’re an authorized Joerns dealer and provider, and we ship nationwide, delivered to your door. If you aren’t sure which cover is on your mattress, call us at 585-505-6665 with the model and size off the mattress tag and we’ll match it.
Why Replace the Cover Instead of the Mattress?
A PrevaMatt is foam inside a zippered cover. Joerns warrants the mattress foam for five years (two years on the Basic, seven on the Alleviate) but the cover for one year, which tells you the cover is the part that wears first. A new cover from Joerns puts the right fabric back on the same mattress: 70-denier nylon on the Basic, 2-way stretch on the Defend and Console, 4-way stretch on the Alleviate, per Joerns’ price list. Using the matching cover keeps the mattress the way Joerns built it.
Who Is This Cover For?
- Homes and facilities with a Joerns PrevaMatt mattress whose cover is torn, cut, stained or has a failed zipper.
- Facilities that stock spares so a bed isn’t out of service while a cover is laundered or replaced.
- Anyone who owns a 36″ PrevaMatt: Joerns’ price list says the 35″ replacement covers are compatible with 36″ mattresses.
It is not a universal cover. It is cut for PrevaMatt foam only; for another brand’s mattress, pick the cover that maker sells.
Choosing Your Options
There are two dropdowns: Mattress Model and Size. Both must match the mattress you have.
1. Mattress Model. Read the model name off your mattress tag or your invoice. The PrevaMatt line runs Basic, Defend, Console and Alleviate, and the cover fabric changes with the model: Basic uses a 70-denier nylon cover; Defend and Console use a 2-way stretch cover; Alleviate and Alleviate with Tempur use a 4-way stretch cover. Then pick the style. Flat is the standard 6″ deep mattress. Raised Perimeter is the version with Joerns’ optional raised edges, and its cover is 8″ deep. Alleviate with Tempur is the Alleviate built with genuine TEMPUR material and takes its own cover.
2. Size. Width x length x depth. PrevaMatt mattresses come 35″ or 42″ wide and 80″ or 84″ long. If your mattress is 36″ wide, order the 35″ cover: Joerns’ price list states the 35″ covers are compatible with 36″ mattresses.

| Alleviate Raised Perimeter | 42″ x 84″ x 8″ | 4-way stretch zippered cover | 27000265-S |

| Alleviate with Tempur | 35″ x 84″ x 6″ | 4-way stretch zippered cover | 27000110-S |
| Alleviate with Tempur | 42″ x 80″ x 6″ | 4-way stretch zippered cover | 27000109-S |
| Alleviate with Tempur | 42″ x 84″ x 6″ | 4-way stretch zippered cover | 27000255-S |
Not sure? Measure the mattress (width, length, and depth at the edge) and look for the model name on the tag, then call us at 585-505-6665. A cover that is the wrong depth or fabric won’t zip properly, so it’s worth a minute to confirm.
What the Models Mean
Joerns positions the four PrevaMatt models by clinical use: Basic for prevention; Defend and Console for prevention to Stage 1; Alleviate for prevention to Stage 2, with the TEMPUR option Joerns rates for up to Stage 3 uncomplicated pressure injuries. The cover alone doesn’t change any of that. It is a replacement part, and the mattress keeps the rating of the model it is. If the mattress itself is worn out, see the Joerns PrevaMatt mattress instead.
Common Problem → PrevaMatt Cover Solution
Problem: A nursing home has a PrevaMatt Console 35″ x 80″ raised-perimeter mattress with a split zipper. The foam is fine, but the cover won’t close and the bed is out of rotation.
Solution: Order Mattress Model “Console Raised Perimeter”, Size 35″ x 80″ x 8″ (Joerns part 27000082-S), unzip the old cover, zip on the new 2-way stretch cover, and the mattress goes back into service.
“Our mattress tag says 36 x 80.” Order the 35″ x 80″ cover for your model; Joerns lists the 35″ cover as compatible with the 36″ mattress.
Care & Cleaning
Follow the care label on the cover and Joerns’ PrevaMatt instructions. Joerns’ warranty notes that “some fabric will stretch” over the product’s life and that this is normal. Cuts, needle punctures, burns and chemical damage are not covered, so keep sharp objects and harsh cleaners away from the cover. Ask us at 585-505-6665 for the current Joerns cleaning guidance for your model.
Warranty
Joerns’ PrevaMatt warranty program states a one-year cover warranty. Damage from improper use, including cuts, punctures, staining and improper cleaning, is not covered, and claims need a Joerns Return Authorization number. Ask us for the full current terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a mattress or just the cover?
Just the cover. It is the zippered outer cover for a Joerns PrevaMatt foam mattress, sold as a replacement part. The foam mattress is sold separately.
Which PrevaMatt models does it fit?
Joerns makes covers for the PrevaMatt Basic, Defend, Console, Alleviate and Alleviate with Tempur, in flat and raised-perimeter styles. Pick your model and size from the two dropdowns.
How do I know which model I have?
Check the mattress tag or your original invoice for the model name (Basic, Defend, Console or Alleviate), then measure width, length and depth. If you still aren’t sure, call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll help you match it.
My mattress is 36″ wide. Which cover do I order?
Order the 35″ cover for your model. Joerns’ price list says the 35″ replacement covers are compatible with 36″ PrevaMatt mattresses.
What is the difference between flat and raised perimeter?
Flat is the standard 6″ deep PrevaMatt. Raised perimeter is the version with Joerns’ optional raised edges, which Joerns says aid fall prevention and reduce entrapment risk; its cover is 8″ deep. The two covers are not interchangeable.
What fabric is the cover?
It depends on the model, per Joerns’ price list: 70-denier nylon on the Basic, 2-way stretch on the Defend and Console, and 4-way stretch on the Alleviate and Alleviate with Tempur.
Will it fit a mattress from another brand?
No. These covers are cut for Joerns PrevaMatt foam. For another brand, use the cover that manufacturer sells.
Does the cover come with a zipper?
Yes. Every PrevaMatt replacement cover is a zippered cover that goes on over the existing foam.
Does a new cover change the mattress rating?
No. The cover is a replacement part; the mattress keeps the capacity and clinical rating of the model it is. Joerns rates the series at 500 lb (300 lb for the Basic).
What warranty does the cover have?
Joerns’ PrevaMatt warranty program lists a one-year cover warranty. Cuts, punctures, burns, staining and improper cleaning are not covered. Ask us for the full terms.
Can I order more than one?
Yes. Facilities often keep a spare so a bed stays in service while a cover is laundered or replaced. Each option has its own Joerns part number.
How do I find the right cover fast?
Call us at 585-505-6665 with the model and size off the mattress tag, or send a photo of the tag, and we’ll confirm the part number before you order.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
