Description

Soft Immersion Foam Support for Low to Moderate Pressure Risk Patients

The Protekt® 100 Pressure Redistribution Mattress is a therapeutic hospital bed foam mattress designed to provide deep immersion, comfort, low-shear support, and pressure redistribution for patients at low to moderate risk of skin breakdown.

Built with a high-resilient 1.5 density foam core and ultra-soft 28 ILD foam construction, the Protekt® 100 is ideal for patients who need a comfortable mattress for hospital bed use without requiring a powered air system or advanced high-risk pressure therapy surface.

Whether you are searching for:

  • ✔️ A pressure redistribution mattress
  • ✔️ A mattress for hospital bed
  • ✔️ A hospital bed foam mattress
  • ✔️ A soft medical foam mattress
  • ✔️ A mattress for elderly homecare
  • ✔️ A foam mattress for low-moderate risk patients
  • ✔️ A pressure support mattress for bed rest
  • ✔️ A non-powered therapeutic mattress
  • ✔️ A 6” or 9” hospital mattress option
  • ✔️ A mattress with optional raised rails

the Protekt® 100 is designed to deliver dependable comfort, skin protection support, and everyday pressure redistribution for homecare, assisted living, nursing care, rehab, hospice, and hospital bed environments.

Why the Protekt® 100 Stands Out

The Protekt® 100 is a strong entry-level therapeutic foam mattress for patients who need better pressure redistribution than a basic hospital mattress, while still keeping the support surface soft, comfortable, and easy to maintain.

✔️ High-resilient 1.5 density foam core
✔️ Ultra-soft 28 ILD foam construction
✔️ Deep immersion pressure redistribution
✔️ Vapor-permeable low-shear nylon cover
✔️ Fluid-resistant antimicrobial protection
✔️ 360° zipper removable cover
✔️ Anti-contamination zipper flap
✔️ Fire sleeve meets federal standards
✔️ Available in 6” and 9” models
✔️ Optional raised rails available
✔️ Supports patients up to 350 lbs.
✔️ Ideal for low-moderate risk patients

What Is a Pressure Redistribution Mattress?

A pressure redistribution mattress is designed to help spread body weight across a larger surface area instead of allowing pressure to concentrate heavily on one spot.

This matters because patients who spend long hours in bed may experience pressure buildup around areas such as:

  • ✔️ Heels
  • ✔️ Hips
  • ✔️ Tailbone and sacrum
  • ✔️ Shoulders
  • ✔️ Back
  • ✔️ Elbows

The Protekt® 100 helps reduce concentrated pressure by allowing the body to gently immerse into the foam surface. This helps create a more comfortable support surface for patients who are resting, recovering, or spending extended periods in a hospital bed.

Ultra-Soft 28 ILD Foam for Deep Immersion

The Protekt® 100 uses an ultra-soft foam construction measuring approximately 28 ILD, which refers to indentation load deflection.

In simple terms, ILD helps describe how soft or firm the foam feels under body weight. A lower ILD foam allows more gentle immersion, which can help the patient sink slightly into the surface for better contact and pressure distribution.

This foam design helps:

  • ✔️ Increase body surface contact
  • ✔️ Improve comfort during bed rest
  • ✔️ Reduce concentrated pressure points
  • ✔️ Support low to moderate pressure risk patients
  • ✔️ Create a softer hospital bed sleeping surface

This makes the Protekt® 100 especially useful for patients who dislike very firm mattresses and need a softer, more forgiving foam support surface.

High-Resilient 1.5 Density Foam Core

The entire mattress core is made with high-resilient 1.5 density foam formulation.

This core is designed to provide:

  • ✔️ Consistent support
  • ✔️ Comfortable immersion
  • ✔️ Pressure redistribution
  • ✔️ Long-term foam resilience
  • ✔️ Reliable hospital bed support

Unlike a basic residential mattress or thin pad, this hospital bed foam mattress is built for medical care environments where comfort, moisture protection, cleaning access, and pressure management are important.

Best for Low to Moderate Risk Patients

The Protekt® 100 is ideal for low to moderate risk patients who need pressure redistribution support but do not require a higher-level air therapy system.

Best for:

  • ✔️ Elderly patients using a hospital bed
  • ✔️ Homecare patients with limited mobility
  • ✔️ Rehab and recovery patients
  • ✔️ Assisted living residents
  • ✔️ Patients who spend extended time in bed
  • ✔️ Users needing soft foam comfort
  • ✔️ Patients at low-moderate skin breakdown risk
  • ✔️ Caregivers replacing basic hospital mattresses

For patients at higher pressure injury risk, with existing wounds, or needing more advanced heel offloading or powered air therapy, a higher-level mattress may be more appropriate.

6” Standard vs 9” Protekt® 100 Plus Models

The Protekt® 100 is available in both standard 6” models and thicker 9” Plus models.

6” Standard Protekt® 100 Models

The 6” standard models are best for:

  • ✔️ Standard hospital bed frames
  • ✔️ Lower transfer height needs
  • ✔️ Everyday homecare use
  • ✔️ Patients needing soft foam pressure redistribution

9” Protekt® 100 Plus Models

The 9” Plus models offer a thicker support profile and may be preferred for:

  • ✔️ More cushioning depth
  • ✔️ Greater immersion feel
  • ✔️ A more substantial mattress profile
  • ✔️ Patients wanting added foam thickness

The mattress is available in common 36” widths with 76”, 80”, and 84” length options.

Optional Raised Rails

Optional raised rail configurations may be available on all sizes.

Raised rail options may help:

  • ✔️ Add side edge definition
  • ✔️ Improve edge awareness
  • ✔️ Create a more contained mattress feel
  • ✔️ Support certain fall-risk care setups
  • ✔️ Improve caregiver confidence during repositioning

These raised rail options are helpful for customers who want additional side-edge support beyond the standard foam mattress profile.

Low-Shear, Vapor-Permeable Nylon Cover

The Protekt® 100 includes a nylon medical cover designed to reduce perspiration and provide a low-shear, low-friction surface.

The cover helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce friction during repositioning
  • ✔️ Support skin comfort
  • ✔️ Reduce perspiration buildup
  • ✔️ Protect the mattress core from fluids
  • ✔️ Improve long-term care hygiene

Cover features include:

  • ✔️ Vapor permeable
  • ✔️ Fluid resistant
  • ✔️ Anti-microbial
  • ✔️ Anti-bacterial
  • ✔️ Low-shear / low-friction surface

This is especially valuable for elderly patients, homecare patients, and individuals who need frequent repositioning assistance.

360° Zipper & Anti-Contamination Flap

The Protekt® 100 includes a 360° zipper for easy cover removal, cleaning, or replacement.

It also includes an anti-contamination flap that covers the zipper area to help reduce the possibility of fluids entering and damaging the foam core.

This helps:

  • ✔️ Improve cleaning access
  • ✔️ Support infection-control routines
  • ✔️ Protect the internal foam core
  • ✔️ Extend mattress usability
  • ✔️ Make maintenance easier for caregivers

Fire Safety & Medical Use Support

The Protekt® 100 includes a fire sleeve that meets Federal Fire Code 16 CFR Part 1633.

This adds an important safety layer for:

  • ✔️ Homecare use
  • ✔️ Nursing facilities
  • ✔️ Assisted living environments
  • ✔️ Rehab care settings
  • ✔️ Hospital bed setups

The mattress also supports patients up to 350 lbs., making it a strong standard-size therapeutic foam mattress option for everyday care.
