Bariatric Pressure Relief Mattress for Very High Risk Pressure Ulcer Prevention
The Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Pressure Relief Foam Mattress is a premium bariatric pressure relief mattress designed for larger patients who need advanced comfort, pressure redistribution, skin protection support, and long-term durability in homecare, nursing facilities, rehab centers, assisted living, and healthcare environments.
Built with high-resiliency 2.5 lb. castellated polyurethane foam, a premium four-way stretch fluid-resistant cover, and a single-piece foam U-core with built-in side support, this bariatric foam mattress is designed to help support patients up to very high risk of pressure ulcers while still providing excellent comfort and transfer stability.
Whether you are searching for:
- ✔️ A bariatric pressure relief mattress
- ✔️ A bariatric foam mattress
- ✔️ A bariatric mattress for pressure sores
- ✔️ A wide hospital bed mattress for larger patients
- ✔️ A high weight capacity foam medical mattress
- ✔️ A pressure ulcer prevention mattress for bariatric care
- ✔️ A therapeutic bariatric hospital bed mattress
- ✔️ A 42” or 48” bariatric mattress
- ✔️ A mattress with side support for transfers
- ✔️ A long-term care mattress for high-risk patients
the Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress is built to deliver strong bariatric support, advanced pressure reduction, resident comfort, and caregiver-friendly durability.
Why the Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress Stands Out
The Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress is not a basic foam mattress. It is a higher-level therapeutic bariatric support surface designed for patients who need pressure ulcer prevention support, long-term comfort, and a stronger foam structure than standard medical mattresses.
Key advantages include:
- ✔️ Very high risk pressure ulcer support
- ✔️ 2.5 lb. high-resiliency foam
- ✔️ Castellated foam pressure reduction cells
- ✔️ Single-piece foam U-core side support
- ✔️ Four-way stretch fluid-resistant cover
- ✔️ Reduced shear and friction support
- ✔️ Removable cover for inspection
- ✔️ Built-in side support for transfers
- ✔️ 650 lb. bariatric weight capacity
- ✔️ Available in 42” and 48” widths
Advanced Bariatric Pressure Relief Support
Bariatric patients often need more than just a wider mattress. They need a support surface that can handle greater body weight while still helping distribute pressure evenly across the body.
This bariatric pressure relief mattress uses premium high-resiliency foam and castellated support cells to help:
- ✔️ Increase body contact area
- ✔️ Reduce concentrated pressure points
- ✔️ Improve patient immersion
- ✔️ Support skin integrity
- ✔️ Improve comfort during long bed stays
- ✔️ Help protect high-risk pressure areas
This makes it especially valuable for larger patients who spend extended periods in bed and need a more advanced foam surface than a standard hospital mattress can provide.
Designed for Very High Risk Pressure Ulcer Prevention
The Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress is designed to aid in the prevention of pressure ulcers for residents up to very high risk.
This is important for patients who may experience:
- ✔️ Limited mobility
- ✔️ Long-term bed rest
- ✔️ Difficulty repositioning
- ✔️ Pressure buildup around hips and sacrum
- ✔️ Heel and lower body pressure concerns
- ✔️ Skin sensitivity from friction or shear
- ✔️ Bariatric positioning challenges
For customers searching for a bariatric mattress for pressure sores, this mattress is positioned as a strong non-powered therapeutic foam option for prevention-focused care.
2.5 lb. High-Resiliency Foam for Long-Term Performance
The Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress uses 2.5 lb. high-resiliency polyurethane foam. This higher-density foam is designed to maintain shape, support, comfort, and pressure-reduction qualities longer than lower-density foam.
Benefits include:
- ✔️ Better long-term foam recovery
- ✔️ Stronger bariatric support
- ✔️ Longer-lasting comfort performance
- ✔️ Improved pressure redistribution
- ✔️ Less support breakdown over time
- ✔️ Better fit for long-term care use
This makes the mattress a strong choice for facilities and homecare situations where durability and consistent support matter.
Castellated Foam Cells for Pressure Reduction
The mattress features unique castellated foam cells designed to break surface tension and allow the patient to immerse into the foam.
This helps:
- ✔️ Maximize body contact area
- ✔️ Improve pressure reduction
- ✔️ Support comfort over long periods
- ✔️ Reduce pressure concentration
- ✔️ Help distribute weight more evenly
The mushroom-shaped castellated foam design helps the mattress contour to the patient’s body without sacrificing needed support.
Single-Piece Foam U-Core for Side Support & Transfers
One of the most important bariatric features is the single-piece foam U-core.
This design provides effective side-wall support and helps facilitate resident transfers. Because the U-core is made from one piece of foam instead of glued sections, it supports stronger durability and structure.
The U-core helps with:
- ✔️ Better side support
- ✔️ Easier patient transfers
- ✔️ Improved edge stability
- ✔️ Stronger mattress durability
- ✔️ More caregiver confidence
- ✔️ Better support during repositioning
This is especially important for bariatric users because safe transfers and stable edges are major caregiver and patient concerns.
Four-Way Stretch Fluid-Resistant Cover
The premium four-way stretch polyurethane cover is designed to help reduce shear and friction forces, which may contribute to pressure ulcer development and skin vulnerability.
Cover benefits include:
- ✔️ Fluid-resistant protection
- ✔️ Four-way stretch flexibility
- ✔️ Reduced shear and friction
- ✔️ Skin integrity support
- ✔️ Fully removable design
- ✔️ Easier laundering and inspection
- ✔️ Concealed zipper to reduce fluid ingress risk
The removable cover makes it easier for caregivers to inspect foam, replace the cover when needed, and support hygiene routines in daily care environments.
Built for Bariatric Users up to 650 lbs.
The Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress supports users up to 650 lbs.
This makes it suitable for:
- ✔️ Bariatric homecare patients
- ✔️ Larger elderly patients
- ✔️ Long-term care residents
- ✔️ Rehab patients needing wider support
- ✔️ Patients requiring side support for transfers
- ✔️ Facilities needing durable bariatric mattresses
Available width options include:
- ✔️ 42” wide bariatric mattress option
- ✔️ 48” wide bariatric mattress option
These wider sizes help provide more space, comfort, and support for larger users compared to standard 36” hospital bed mattresses.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
