Description
Stander Wonder Pivot Bed Rail – Pivot Bed Rail That Folds Down and Extends for Nighttime Fall Protection
The Stander Wonder Pivot Bed Rail is a pivot bed rail for a regular home bed. It does two jobs: the rail extends in length to help keep someone from rolling out at night, and the front of it works as a sturdy handle for getting up. When you don’t need it, the railing pivots down 180 degrees and out of the way, so making the bed or sitting on the edge is easy.
As a bed rail for elderly adults, it’s built from powder-coated steel and Stander rates the assist handle to support 300 pounds. The rail extends from 26 to 32 to 38.5 inches, stands 18 inches from the base of the mattress and fits mattresses 8 to 12 inches thick, from Twin to California King.
It slides under the mattress and stays put with the included safety strap, which buckles around the bed frame. A two-pocket organizer pouch rides on the rail for glasses, a phone or the TV remote. Stander says this Stander pivot bed rail passed the ASTM F3186-17 safety standard for adult portable bed rails.
Why Choose the Stander Wonder Pivot Bed Rail?
Most home bed rails are always up. That’s fine at night, but during the day a fixed rail gets in the way of changing sheets, sitting on the side of the bed to dress, or a caregiver helping with a transfer. The Wonder Pivot Bed Rail solves that: pull both knobs inward and the rail rotates down, then swing it back up at bedtime.
You also get length when you want it. Push the spring pin and pull the rail toward the foot of the bed to extend it, which gives more side coverage at night. And because it straps to the bed frame rather than just tucking under the mattress, it stays where you set it. As an authorized dealer and provider, we ship it fast nationwide and deliver it to your door. Questions first? Call us at 585-505-6665.
Who Is the Wonder Pivot Bed Rail Best For?
This rail is a good fit for:
- Older adults who want a handle to hold when sitting up, standing or turning in bed
- Anyone who wants a rail at night but not during the day
- Caregivers who need the side of the bed clear for linen changes and transfers
- Homes with a traditional bed (box spring, platform or slats) and a mattress 8 to 12 inches thick
- Users up to the 300 lb rating Stander gives the assist handle
Not sure what bed setup you need? Our hospital bed knowledge base explains rails, handles and bed types in plain terms.
Who May Need a Different Bed Rail?
Pick something else if the bed is adjustable (Stander says never use this rail on an adjustable bed), if the mattress is thinner than 8 inches or thicker than 12 inches, or if the mattress is extra soft. For a 10 to 14 inch mattress, the Stander Wonder EZ Adjust Bed Rail is the better match; Stander also makes a taller pivot version for 8 to 16 inch mattresses (ask us). Stander also says the rail is not for people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, or anyone sedated, confused or frail. For a hospital bed, browse our bed rails and hospital bed accessories.
Railing Pivots Down 180 Degrees
This is the feature that sets the Wonder Pivot apart. To lower the rail, pull both knobs inward and rotate it down; to raise it, swing it back up until it locks. With the rail down, the side of the bed is open for sitting, dressing and bed making. With it up, you have the full rail and handle back.
Extends From 26 to 38.5 Inches
The rail has three length settings Stander lists as 26, 32 and 38.5 inches. The extending end always goes toward the foot of the bed. To extend it, push the spring pin down and pull the rail toward the foot of the bed. Longer coverage helps at night; the shorter setting leaves more room to get in and out.
Assist Handle Rated for 300 lb
Stander rates the assist handle to support 300 pounds (136 kg). Use it for balance and leverage as you sit up and stand from the bed. Stander describes it as minimal to moderate weight support, so it helps you stand; it isn’t a lift.
Fits 8 to 12 Inch Mattresses on Traditional Beds
Stander says the rail fits traditional beds with box springs, platforms or slats, Twin through California King, with a mattress 8 to 12 inches thick. Measure your mattress before ordering. Stander measures the 18-inch rail height from the base of the mattress, so a thicker mattress leaves less rail above it; the manual requires the top of the rail to be at least 4 inches above the mattress surface.
Wonder Pivot Bed Rail vs. Wonder EZ Adjust Bed Rail
Both are Stander bed rails with a 300 lb handle, a safety strap and an organizer pouch, and neither goes on an adjustable bed. The difference is how they get out of the way and what mattress they fit:
- Wonder Pivot: the railing pivots down 180 degrees; length 26″, 32″ or 38.5″; 18″ rail height; fits 8″ to 12″ mattresses; 15 lb.
- Wonder EZ Adjust: the rail stays up but its length adjusts from 20″ to 30″; 20″ rail height; fits 10″ to 14″ mattresses; 10 lb.
If you want the rail out of the way during the day, choose the Pivot. If your mattress is 13 or 14 inches thick, choose the EZ Adjust.
Common Problem → Wonder Pivot Bed Rail Solution
Problem: Mom wants a rail to hold at night, but a fixed rail makes it hard for her aide to change the sheets and help her sit on the side of the bed in the morning.
Solution: With the Wonder Pivot, the aide pulls the two knobs and folds the rail down for linen changes and morning care, then raises and extends it at bedtime. Mom has the handle when she needs to sit up.
“Will it fit our bed?” If it’s a regular bed with a frame the strap can go around and a mattress 8 to 12 inches thick that isn’t extra soft, yes.
Safety Notes
Stander’s owner’s manual is direct about bed rail safety, and so are we:
- Entrapment risk. Stander warns that there’s a risk of entrapment with all bed rails. A person can get caught in gaps around the rail, mattress or bed frame, and that can cause serious injury or death.
- Who shouldn’t use it. Stander says the rail is never to be used by people with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or restlessness, or by anyone who is sedated, confused or frail. It’s for adults only, never children, and it’s never to be used as a restraint.
- No gaps, no slack. Use it only when the rail is tight against the side of the mattress with no gap and the safety strap has no slack. Stop using it right away if a gap appears or the rail shifts.
- Placement. Keep the rail at least 12.5 inches from the headboard and the footboard, and make sure the top of the rail sits at least 4 inches above the top of the mattress.
- Mattress. Use it only on a mattress 8 to 12 inches thick. Never use it on an adjustable bed, on toddler, bunk, water or inflatable beds, or with a mattress topper or soft compressible pad. Stander’s soft-mattress test: press 12 lb onto a 4″ x 4″ area at the mattress edge; if it sinks more than 2 inches, don’t use the rail without Stander’s Bed Rail Safety Guard (item 2400/2450, sold separately; ask us).
- One rail per side. Never put two bed rails on the same side of the bed.
In a nursing home or assisted living facility, follow the facility’s bed rail policies too. Questions about your bed or mattress? Call us at 585-505-6665 before you order.
Care & Cleaning
Stander says to clean the rail with warm water and soap and dry it thoroughly before use. Check now and then that the rail is still tight against the mattress, the safety strap has no slack and nothing is damaged or missing; if the rail has shifted, stop using it until it’s set back correctly.
What’s Included
The rail, two legs, the safety guard, the safety strap, a two-pocket organizer pouch, and the hardware and tool to put it together. Assembly is required; Stander’s user manual walks you through it step by step.
Warranty
Stander’s owner’s manual lists a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship, when the rail is installed and used as Stander instructs. Call us at 585-505-6665 with any warranty question.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Stander Wonder Pivot Bed Rail?
It’s a portable bed rail for regular home beds that extends in length for nighttime fall protection and doubles as a handle for getting out of bed. The railing pivots down 180 degrees when you don’t need it.
How does the rail pivot down?
Pull both knobs inward and rotate the rail down. Swing it back up to use it again.
How long is the rail?
Stander lists three lengths: 26, 32 and 38.5 inches. Push the spring pin and pull the rail toward the foot of the bed to extend it.
How much weight does the handle support?
Stander rates the assist handle for 300 pounds (136 kg). It gives minimal to moderate support for standing, so it’s a steadying handle, not a lift.
What mattress thickness does it fit?
Mattresses 8 to 12 inches thick, from Twin to California King. For a 10 to 14 inch mattress, look at the Stander Wonder EZ Adjust Bed Rail.
Can I use it on an adjustable bed or hospital bed?
No. Stander says never use this rail on an adjustable bed. It’s made for traditional beds with box springs, platforms or slats.
Does it attach to the bed?
Yes. The base slides under the mattress and the included safety strap loops around the bed frame. Stander says never use it without the strap tight and the rail snug against the mattress.
Can I use it with a soft or pillow-top mattress?
Not without extra protection. If the mattress edge sinks more than 2 inches under 12 lb of pressure on a 4″ x 4″ area, Stander says to add its Bed Rail Safety Guard, sold separately. Don’t use it with mattress toppers or soft pads.
Is this bed rail safe for someone with dementia?
No. Stander says it’s never to be used by people with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or restlessness, or by anyone who is sedated, confused or frail, because of the risk of entrapment. Talk with their care team about other options.
Is assembly required?
Yes. You attach the legs and safety guard with the included hardware and tool, then strap the rail to the bed. Stander’s user manual shows each step.
Is it ASTM certified?
Stander says it passed the ASTM F3186-17 Safety Standard Specification for Adult Portable Bed Rails.
What warranty does it have?
Stander’s owner’s manual lists a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. Call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll go over the terms.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
