Description
Lumex 30″ Bariatric PVC Commode Bath Chair – 30 Inch Bariatric Shower Commode Chair, 700 lb Capacity
The Lumex 30″ Bariatric PVC Commode Bath Chair is the largest chair in the Lumex PVC shower line: a 30 inch bariatric shower commode chair rated by Graham-Field for 700 lb. It gives the user 30″ between the arms, a 21 1/2″ deep elongated open-front seat and a frame of health care grade PVC that won’t rust in the shower.
A caregiver rolls the user into the shower on 5″ heavy-duty casters, the biggest casters in the Lumex PVC range. The open-front seat leaves room for washing and hygiene care while the user stays seated, which is why GF calls it a bariatric commode bath chair. One thing to know up front: Graham-Field states that this chair cannot be used over a toilet.
Choose it with or without the sliding footrest; the dropdown explains the difference. Like every Lumex PVC chair it has a quick-drying removable mesh back and curved arms with anti-slip handgrips. If you’ve been searching for a 30 inch shower commode because a 26″ chair is too tight, this is the step up.
Why Choose the Lumex 30″ Bariatric Commode Bath Chair?
When a large user is squeezed into a chair that’s too narrow, every shower turns into a struggle: the arms dig in, the user perches on the edge, and the caregiver can’t reach to wash. The 30″ chair fixes the fit first. There’s 30″ of room between the arms and a 30″ wide seat, and the 700 lb rating leaves a real margin.
Graham-Field adds dual reinforcement where the casters fit into the frame, threaded stem casters, and an extra heavy-duty contoured seat. The PVC frame is health care grade and the mesh back dries fast. We’re an authorized dealer and provider with fast nationwide shipping, delivered to your door. Want us to check the measurements with you first? Call 585-505-6665.
Who Is the 30″ Bariatric Commode Bath Chair Best For?
It’s the right size for:
- Users up to 700 lb who need to sit for the whole shower
- Users whose hips are too wide for a 26″ chair
- Caregivers and facilities who roll the user from the bedroom into a roll-in shower
- People who need an open-front seat for washing and hygiene care
- Homes with a curbless or roll-in shower and doorways wider than 34″
Our guide to choosing the best shower commode chair for elderly users walks through sizes, casters and footrests if you’re still deciding.
Who May Need a Different Shower Commode Chair?
Because it can’t be used over a toilet, this chair isn’t the answer if you want one chair for the shower and the toilet. It also needs room: it’s 34″ wide and 28 1/4″ deep overall, so measure every doorway and the shower entrance on the route. If the user fits comfortably in 26″ between the arms, the Lumex 26″ bariatric PVC shower commode chair (425 lb) is narrower. For an average-size user, the Lumex 22″ PVC shower commode chair (375 lb) is the standard pick.
Choosing Your Options
There’s one dropdown: Footrest. Both versions are the same 30″ chair with the same measurements and the same 700 lb rating; the only difference is the footrest.
| Footrest | Graham-Field code | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
| Without footrest | 89350 | The user can lift their feet clear of the floor while the caregiver rolls the chair, or the chair is only moved a short way, such as across the bathroom. |
| With sliding footrest | 89351 | The user is rolled farther, from a bedroom to the shower, or can’t hold their feet up. The footrest slides in or out, so it can be pushed back out of the way when the user gets on or off. |
How to choose: a user’s feet must never drag on the floor while the chair is moving. If they can’t keep them up on their own for the whole trip, choose the sliding footrest. Not sure? Call us at 585-505-6665.
700 lb Weight Capacity
This is the highest weight rating in the Lumex PVC shower chair line, according to Graham-Field’s own chart: 700 lb, evenly distributed. The user should sit back and centered on the seat, not on the front edge.
30″ Seat, 30″ Between the Arms
The seat is 30″ wide and 21 1/2″ deep, with 30″ between the arms, so a large user can sit square and the caregiver can reach the user’s sides. The arms are curved, with no sharp edges, and the anti-slip handgrips give the user something solid to hold while sitting down.
Elongated Open-Front Commode Seat
GF describes the seat as deluxe, elongated, extra heavy-duty and contoured, with an open front. The opening gives a caregiver access for washing and personal care without the user standing up. Graham-Field’s spec sheet says the 30″ chairs can’t be placed over a toilet, so plan on using it in the shower. GF doesn’t list a commode pail for this chair; ask us if you need one.
5″ Heavy-Duty Threaded Stem Casters
The 30″ chair rides on 5″ heavy-duty casters, a size up from the 4″ casters on the 26″ chair. Larger casters roll more easily over a shower threshold or grout lines with a heavy load. The casters screw into reinforced fittings (threaded stem), which GF calls out as an added safety feature. Ask us which casters lock before you order if that matters for your set-up.
30″ Bariatric vs. 26″ Bariatric PVC Shower Commode Chair
Both are Lumex bariatric PVC chairs with open-front seats, mesh backs and an optional sliding footrest. The 26″ chair is rated for 425 lb, is 30″ wide overall, has a 20″ seat height and 4″ casters. The 30″ chair is rated for 700 lb, is 34″ wide overall, has a 23″ seat height and 5″ casters, and Graham-Field says it can’t go over a toilet. Choose the 26″ if the user fits in it; choose the 30″ for more width and the higher weight rating.
Common Problem → 30″ Bariatric Commode Bath Chair Solution
Problem: A home care agency has a client who weighs close to 500 lb. The 26″ shower chair they tried pinches at the hips, so he showers once a week at most and the aides worry about him sliding off the front.
Solution: The 30″ chair gives him 30″ between the arms and a 21 1/2″ deep seat, so he sits all the way back. The aides roll him into the roll-in shower on the 5″ casters with his feet on the sliding footrest, and the open front lets them wash him without asking him to stand.
“Will it go through his bathroom door?” The chair is 34″ wide overall, so the doorway needs to be wider than that. Measure first, or call us and we’ll go over it with you.
Sizing & Fit
- Weight: up to 700 lb, evenly distributed.
- Hips: 30″ between the arms. Measure the user’s hips while seated; there should be some room on each side.
- Seat: 30″ wide, 21 1/2″ deep, 23″ from the floor.
- Doorways and shower entry: the chair is 34″ wide, 28 1/4″ deep and 43″ tall overall. Every doorway on the route has to be wider than 34″.
- Toilet: cannot be used over a toilet (Graham-Field).
Colors
Graham-Field ships this chair with Royal Blue mesh as standard. Forest Green and Mauve, in anti-bacterial mesh or anti-bacterial solid vinyl, are made to order through Graham-Field, so ask us before you buy if you want a different color or a vinyl back. A positioning belt (Lumex item 89301) is sold separately.
Care & Cleaning
Wipe the PVC frame with a non-abrasive cleanser and never use solvents. Rinse soap off the mesh back and let it air dry; it’s made to dry quickly. Keep the casters free of hair and mop threads, and check them and the frame fittings regularly. Graham-Field’s PVC chair instructions say not to use a chair whose casters are rusted or stiff or whose fittings are cracked. If you have the sliding footrest, brush soap build-up off the sliding surface so it keeps moving freely.
30″ Bariatric Commode Bath Chair Warranty
Graham-Field lists a one (1) year limited warranty on the PVC frame and a six (6) month limited warranty on all other materials. Call us at 585-505-6665 for the full terms.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
