Description

Lumex 26″ Bariatric PVC Shower Commode Chair with Sliding Footrest – Wide Rolling Shower Commode, 425 lb Capacity

The Lumex 26″ Bariatric PVC Shower Commode Chair with Sliding Footrest is a bariatric shower commode chair for larger users who need to be rolled into the shower and to the toilet seated. It gives 26″ between the arms and a 22″ deep seat, and Graham-Field rates it for 425 lbs.

A 26 inch shower commode chair is often the answer when a standard chair pinches at the hips, and this one is built for exactly that: a bariatric PVC shower chair with a health care grade PVC frame, a deluxe elongated, extra heavy-duty open-front seat, curved arms with anti-slip handgrips, a removable quick-drying mesh back and a telescoping footrest that slides in or out.

It’s the wide member of the Lumex PVC shower commode family. If the user fits comfortably in a narrower seat and weighs 375 lbs or less, the Lumex 22″ PVC Shower Commode Chair is slimmer overall. We’re an authorized dealer, and we ship nationwide, delivered to your door.

Why Choose the Lumex 26″ Bariatric Shower Commode Chair?

A larger user in a chair that’s too narrow sits crooked, rubs against the arms and has a harder time standing up. The 26″ Lumex fixes the fit first: 4″ more room between the arms and 2 1/2″ more seat depth than the 22″ model, with a 425 lb rating.

The rest is what makes the Lumex PVC chairs easy to live with. The frame is plastic pipe with reinforced caster fittings, so there’s no painted metal frame to chip in the shower. The mesh back dries fast and comes off for cleaning, and the curved arms have no sharp edges.

Who Is the Lumex 26″ Bariatric Shower Commode Chair Best For?

  • Larger adults up to 425 lbs who need to sit to shower
  • Users who feel squeezed in a standard 22″ shower chair
  • Caregivers who need one chair to roll a user to the toilet and into the shower
  • People recovering from surgery or a hospital stay who can’t stand in the shower
  • Homes with a roll-in shower and a bathroom door wider than 30″
  • Care homes that want a wide chair that rinses clean

Our Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Shower Commode Chair for Elderly covers widths, seat styles and what to measure.

Who May Need a Different Bariatric Shower Chair?

If the user weighs more than 425 lbs, this chair isn’t rated for them. Ask us about our Heavy-Duty, Extra Wide Bariatric Commode Chair and we’ll check its rating against the user’s weight. If the user is under 375 lbs and fits a 22″ seat, the Lumex 22″ PVC Shower Commode Chair is narrower and easier to fit through tight doors. And if your shower has a curb, a rolling chair will struggle, so call us before you order.

425 lb Weight Capacity

Graham-Field rates the 26″ bariatric chair for up to 425 lbs, 50 lbs more than the 22″ Lumex PVC chair. Stay under the rating with the user seated in the middle of the seat.

26″ Wide Seat, 26″ Between the Arms

The seat is 26″ wide with 26″ between the arms, which gives a larger user room at the hips without pressing against the sides. The arms are curved with no sharp edges and have anti-slip handgrips, so the user has a firm place to push from when they stand.

22″ Deep Elongated Open-Front Seat

The seat is 22″ deep. Lumex calls it a deluxe elongated, extra heavy-duty, contoured open-front seat. The extra depth supports more of the thighs, and the open front gives access for washing and toileting while the user stays seated.

20″ Seat Height

The seat sits 20″ from the floor. The chair stands 40″ tall overall and takes up 30″ by 30″ of floor space.

Health Care Grade PVC and 4″ Heavy-Duty Casters

Graham-Field describes the frame as the highest quality health care grade PVC, with dual reinforcement where the frame goes into the caster fittings for additional support. The 26″ chair steps up to 4″ heavy-duty threaded stem casters, one size larger than the 22″ model’s, and two of the four brake.

Sliding Footrest and Removable Mesh Back

The telescoping footrest slides out to support the feet while the chair moves and slides back in for standing or washing the feet. The quick-drying mesh back support is standard and comes off for cleaning. Graham-Field ships this chair with Royal Blue mesh as standard. Lumex also makes it in Forest Green and Mauve, in anti-bacterial mesh or anti-bacterial solid vinyl; any color other than Royal Blue mesh, or a vinyl back, is a special order, so ask us before you buy.

Lumex 26″ Bariatric vs. Lumex 22″ PVC Shower Commode Chair

Same construction, different size. Both have the health care grade PVC frame, the elongated open-front seat, the removable mesh back, curved arms with anti-slip handgrips, two braking casters and the sliding footrest.

  • 26″ bariatric (this chair): 26″ seat, 4″ casters, 425 lb capacity, 22″ seat depth, 20″ seat height, 30″ wide x 30″ deep overall
  • 22″ standard: 22″ seat, 3″ casters, 375 lb capacity, 19 1/2″ seat depth, 21″ seat height, 26″ wide x 23″ deep overall

Choose the 26″ for weight between 375 and 425 lbs or for anyone who needs more room. Choose the 22″ when the user fits it and your doorways are tight, since it’s 4″ narrower.

Common Problem → Lumex 26″ Bariatric Shower Commode Chair Solution

Problem: The shower chair from the hospital is too narrow. The user sits twisted, the arms dig into their hips, and getting up takes two people.

Solution: The Lumex 26″ gives 26″ between the arms and a 22″ deep seat, rated for 425 lbs, so the user sits square. The curved arms with handgrips and the slide-in footrest make standing up more manageable.

“Will a 30″ wide chair get through my bathroom door?” Only if the opening is wider than 30″. Measure the door with it fully open, and call us if it’s close.

Sizing & Fit

  • Doorways: the chair is 30″ wide and 30″ deep overall, so the bathroom door and any hallway turn need more than 30″ of clear opening.
  • User fit: measure the user’s hip width while seated. Up to 26″ fits between the arms; a little room on each side is more comfortable.
  • Shower entry: rolling in needs a roll-in or very low threshold. Measure any curb height.
  • Toilet: to roll it over a toilet, send us the toilet’s height with the seat on. Graham-Field lists the 20″ seat height but not the clearance under the seat frame.

Call us at 585-505-6665 with the numbers and we’ll help you confirm the fit.

Care & Cleaning

Lumex’s PVC shower chair instructions cover care part by part:

  • PVC frame: wipe it down with a non-abrasive cleanser. Don’t use solvents. A spray furniture wax brings back the shine.
  • Casters: in wet use, keep them lubricated with white lithium paste or a similar lubricant, and clear out hair and mop threads.
  • Mesh back: machine wash in cold water only with regular detergent and one cup of bleach, no softener. Spin dry only, because dryer heat shrinks the mesh, then hang it on the frame to air dry.
  • Footrest: scrub soap build-up off the sliding surface with a soft brush and soapy water, and use furniture spray wax to keep it sliding easily.

Lumex says not to use the chair if the casters are rusted and don’t move easily, or if any fitting cracks.

What’s Included

Per Lumex’s PVC shower chair instructions, the box holds the partially assembled chair, four 4″ casters (2 braking and 2 non-braking), the PVC back with its mesh sling and six 1/2″ stainless steel screws. You attach the casters and the back with a Phillips screwdriver. The chair ships with Royal Blue mesh unless you special-order another color. No commode pail is listed, so ask us if you need one. A positioning belt (Lumex item 89301) is sold separately.

Lumex 26″ Bariatric Shower Commode Chair Warranty

Graham-Field gives a one (1) year limited warranty on the PVC frame and a six (6) month limited warranty on all other materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Lumex 26″ bariatric PVC shower commode chair?

It’s the wide, bariatric version of the Lumex PVC shower commode chair: 26″ between the arms, a 22″ deep open-front seat and a 425 lb weight capacity. It rolls on threaded stem casters and has a sliding footrest and a removable mesh back.

What’s the weight capacity?

Graham-Field rates it for 425 lbs. For a user over 425 lbs, call us about a heavier-rated bariatric commode chair.

How much room is between the arms?

The seat is 26″ wide with 26″ between the arms. It’s 22″ deep and sits 20″ off the floor.

How is it different from the Lumex 22″ model?

It’s wider and rated higher. The 26″ has a 26″ wide seat, a 22″ seat depth, 4″ casters and a 425 lb capacity, while the 22″ has a 22″ wide seat, a 19 1/2″ seat depth, 3″ casters and a 375 lb capacity.

Will it fit through my doorway?

Only if the doorway is wider than 30″, the chair’s overall width. It’s also 30″ deep and 40″ tall, so check any tight hallway turns too.

Will it fit over my toilet?

Check with us first. Graham-Field’s spec sheet only says its 30″ models can’t be used over a toilet, and it doesn’t list the clearance under this chair’s seat frame, so send us your toilet’s height with the seat on.

Is a bucket included?

No bucket is listed. Lumex’s instructions list the chair, four casters, the mesh back and six screws, so ask us if you need a pail.

What color does it come in?

It ships with Royal Blue mesh as standard. Forest Green or Mauve, in mesh or solid vinyl, is a special order, so ask us.

Do the casters have brakes?

Yes, two of them. The chair rolls on four 4″ heavy-duty casters, two braking and two non-braking, per Lumex’s instructions.

Is assembly required?

Just a little. The chair comes partially assembled, and you attach the four casters and the mesh back with six screws and a Phillips screwdriver.

Can I add a positioning belt?

Yes. Lumex sells a positioning belt separately as item 89301. Ask us to add it to your order.

What warranty does it have?

Graham-Field gives a one year limited warranty on the PVC frame and a six month limited warranty on all other materials.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
