Description

Hospital Bed Air Mattress with Pump for Advanced Alternating Pressure & Low Air Loss Therapy

The Invacare microAIR® MA600 Hospital Bed Air Mattress with Pump is an advanced hospital bed air mattress designed to help prevent and treat pressure injuries for patients at medium to high risk. This powered Invacare air mattress combines alternating pressure therapy, low air loss support, 3-in-1 pressure cycling, HeelSense™ Technology, Max Inflate Mode, adjustable comfort settings, and audio/visual safety alarms in one complete therapeutic mattress system.

Whether you are searching for:

  • ✔️ A hospital bed air mattress
  • ✔️ An Invacare air mattress
  • ✔️ A hospital bed air mattress with pump
  • ✔️ An alternating pressure air mattress
  • ✔️ A low air loss mattress system
  • ✔️ An air mattress for pressure injuries
  • ✔️ A powered mattress for bed sores
  • ✔️ A pressure ulcer prevention mattress
  • ✔️ A mattress for medium to high-risk patients
  • ✔️ A hospital mattress with heel pressure relief

the microAIR® MA600 is built to provide stronger therapy support than entry-level alternating pressure systems while remaining practical for homecare, rehab, long-term care, assisted living, and nursing facility use.

Why the Invacare microAIR® MA600 Stands Out

The MA600 is a strong step up from basic alternating pressure systems because it provides a more advanced 3-in-1 alternating pressure function. Instead of simply alternating every other cell, the MA600 inflates and deflates cells in a 3:1 cycle, supporting approximately 2/3 of the body at any given time.

Key benefits include:

  • ✔️ 3-in-1 alternating pressure therapy
  • ✔️ Low air loss moisture management
  • ✔️ 8 adjustable comfort settings
  • ✔️ Adjustable 5, 10, 15, 20-minute cycles
  • ✔️ HeelSense™ heel pressure technology
  • ✔️ Max Inflate Mode for transfers
  • ✔️ Cell-in-cell bottoming-out protection
  • ✔️ Audio and visual pump alarms
  • ✔️ 10 LPM pump flow rate
  • ✔️ 500 lb. weight capacity

Choosing Between MA500, MA600, MA800, and MA900?

Choose the MA500 for low-to-medium risk basic alternating pressure and low air loss support. Choose the MA600 when the patient needs stronger medium-to-high risk support, 3-in-1 alternating pressure, HeelSense™, Max Inflate, and higher 500 lb. capacity. Choose the MA800 when moisture, maceration, true low air loss, pulsation, or wider bariatric sizes are needed. Choose the MA900 when lateral rotation therapy and pulmonary positioning support are needed.

3-in-1 Alternating Pressure for Active Pressure Relief

The MA600 uses an advanced 3-in-1 alternating pressure function that inflates and deflates air cells in a 3:1 cycle. This design provides active pressure relief while supporting 2/3 of the body at any given time.

This helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce prolonged pressure exposure
  • ✔️ Shift pressure away from vulnerable areas
  • ✔️ Support pressure injury prevention
  • ✔️ Assist pressure injury treatment routines
  • ✔️ Improve comfort during long-term bed rest
  • ✔️ Support medium-to-high risk patients

For patients who spend many hours in bed, this alternating pressure air mattress can provide a more active therapeutic surface than a standard foam mattress or basic air overlay.

Low Air Loss Support for Moisture Protection

The MA600 includes low air loss therapy to help manage skin moisture and comfort. Moisture buildup can increase discomfort and may contribute to skin vulnerability during long-term bed rest.

Low air loss support helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce moisture buildup
  • ✔️ Support a drier skin environment
  • ✔️ Improve patient comfort
  • ✔️ Help protect fragile skin
  • ✔️ Support pressure injury care routines

The oversized quilted nylon top cover is highly vapor permeable and designed to provide low shear, friction reduction, and moisture protection.

8 Adjustable Comfort Settings

The MA600 includes 8 adjustable comfort settings based on the patient’s therapy requirement.

These settings help caregivers better adjust the mattress for:

  • ✔️ Patient comfort preference
  • ✔️ Patient weight
  • ✔️ Therapy needs
  • ✔️ Pressure redistribution goals
  • ✔️ Caregiver assessment

This gives the MA600 more flexibility than a fixed-pressure mattress system.

Adjustable Cycle Times: 5, 10, 15, and 20 Minutes

Unlike simpler systems with one preset cycle, the MA600 allows adjustable cycle times of:

  • ✔️ 5 minutes
  • ✔️ 10 minutes
  • ✔️ 15 minutes
  • ✔️ 20 minutes

This allows caregivers to match therapy timing more closely to the patient’s comfort level, tolerance, and pressure care needs.

HeelSense™ Technology for Vulnerable Heel Areas

HeelSense™ Technology is designed to help provide further therapy and comfort by decreasing pressure in the vulnerable heel area.

This is important because heels are one of the most common areas where pressure can build during bed rest.

HeelSense™ helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce heel pressure concentration
  • ✔️ Support lower extremity comfort
  • ✔️ Protect vulnerable heel areas
  • ✔️ Improve pressure redistribution near the feet
  • ✔️ Support patients with limited mobility

Max Inflate Mode for Transfers & Nursing Procedures

The MA600 includes Max Inflate Mode, which provides quick maximum inflation within seconds.

This feature is valuable for:

  • ✔️ Patient transfers
  • ✔️ Repositioning assistance
  • ✔️ Nursing procedures
  • ✔️ Caregiver access
  • ✔️ Temporary firming of the mattress surface

When caregivers need a firmer surface for safe care tasks, Max Inflate Mode can make daily care easier and more controlled.

Cell-in-Cell Design Helps Prevent Bottoming Out

The cell-in-cell design is engineered to help prevent bottoming out in the event of a power failure.

Bottoming out can reduce therapeutic support and may increase pressure exposure. The MA600’s design helps provide added protection and caregiver confidence if power is interrupted.

Soft Nylon Urethane-Backed Cells

The mattress cells are made with soft nylon urethane-backed material designed for easy cleaning and to help minimize the proliferation of bacterial growth.

This supports:

  • ✔️ Easier maintenance
  • ✔️ Cleaner care routines
  • ✔️ Long-term mattress durability
  • ✔️ Practical healthcare use

Multiple snap bladders also help keep cells secure during patient movement.

Audio & Visual Safety Alarms

The compressor pump includes audio and visual alarms to help alert caregivers when attention may be required.

Alarm support helps with:

  • ✔️ Low pressure awareness
  • ✔️ Power failure awareness
  • ✔️ Therapy monitoring
  • ✔️ Caregiver response
  • ✔️ Daily safety confidence

The MA600 pump has a 10 LPM flow rate, giving it stronger airflow performance than the MA500.

MA600 vs MA500: What Is the Difference?

The MA600 is a stronger upgrade over the MA500.

  • ✔️ MA500: low-to-medium risk support
  • ✔️ MA600: medium-to-high risk support
  • ✔️ MA500: 2-in-1 alternating pressure
  • ✔️ MA600: advanced 3-in-1 alternating pressure
  • ✔️ MA500: 350 lb. capacity
  • ✔️ MA600: 500 lb. capacity
  • ✔️ MA500: 5 LPM pump flow rate
  • ✔️ MA600: 10 LPM pump flow rate
  • ✔️ MA600 adds HeelSense™ Technology
  • ✔️ MA600 adds Max Inflate Mode
  • ✔️ MA600 adds adjustable cycle times
Quick Buying Guidance:
Choose the MA500 for lighter low-to-medium risk needs. Choose the MA600 when the patient needs stronger active pressure relief, higher capacity, better heel support, and Max Inflate for transfers.

When to Consider the MA800 Instead

The MA800 is the next higher model when moisture management, maceration concerns, pulsation therapy, true low air loss, wider sizes, or bariatric support are needed.

Consider the Invacare microAIR® MA800 if the patient needs:

  • ✔️ True low air loss therapy
  • ✔️ Pulsation therapy
  • ✔️ More advanced moisture control
  • ✔️ 10 comfort settings
  • ✔️ Wider 42” or 48” mattress options
  • ✔️ Higher bariatric weight capacity
  • ✔️ Foam base bottoming-out protection

When to Consider the MA900 Instead

The MA900 is the more advanced option when lateral rotation therapy is needed.

Consider the Invacare microAIR® MA900 if the patient needs:

  • ✔️ Lateral rotation therapy
  • ✔️ 20° and 40° turning support
  • ✔️ True low air loss therapy
  • ✔️ Built-in side bolsters
  • ✔️ Advanced pulmonary positioning support
  • ✔️ Wider 42” or 48” options
  • ✔️ Higher acuity patient support

The Invacare microAIR® MA600 is best for:

  • ✔️ Medium-to-high risk pressure injury patients
  • ✔️ Patients needing active alternating pressure
  • ✔️ Patients needing low air loss support
  • ✔️ Patients with heel pressure concerns
  • ✔️ Bedridden patients
  • ✔️ Elderly homecare users
