Why This Bariatric Foam Mattress Stands Out
The Invacare Solace Prevention Bariatric Mattress is not just a wider foam mattress. It is built specifically for bariatric support, pressure redistribution, comfort, and stability.
Key advantages include:
- ✔️ 42” x 80” bariatric mattress size
- ✔️ Fortress-cut convoluted foam support
- ✔️ Softer head and heel sections
- ✔️ Firm high-density bottom layer
- ✔️ Built-in side supports
- ✔️ Fluid-resistant nylon top cover
- ✔️ Tri-laminate vinyl bottom
- ✔️ Designed for pressure redistribution
- ✔️ Helps support bed sore prevention care
- ✔️ Strong option for bariatric hospital beds
Built for Bariatric Hospital Bed Support
Bariatric patients often need more than standard mattress width. They need a support surface that can help manage body weight, improve comfort, reduce concentrated pressure points, and provide enough stability for repositioning and caregiver-assisted care.
This bariatric hospital bed mattress helps support:
- ✔️ Larger patients needing wider surface support
- ✔️ Long-term bed users
- ✔️ Patients with limited mobility
- ✔️ Users at risk for pressure buildup
- ✔️ Rehab and recovery patients
- ✔️ Homecare bariatric bed setups
- ✔️ Facility and nursing care environments
The 42” width gives more room than a standard 36” hospital mattress, making it a better fit for many larger users.
Fortress-Cut Convoluted Foam for Pressure Redistribution
The mattress uses a fortress-cut convoluted foam top layer designed to increase support surface contact and help distribute weight more evenly.
This foam design helps:
- ✔️ Improve pressure redistribution
- ✔️ Increase patient surface contact
- ✔️ Reduce concentrated pressure areas
- ✔️ Improve comfort during extended bed rest
- ✔️ Support vulnerable body zones
- ✔️ Provide added therapeutic foam support
For patients at risk of skin breakdown or discomfort from prolonged bed rest, this type of foam support can be a major upgrade from a basic flat mattress.
Softer Head and Heel Sections for Comfort
The Invacare Solace Prevention Bariatric Mattress includes softer head and heel sections.
This is important because the head and heels are areas where comfort and pressure management matter greatly during long periods in bed.
The softer zones help:
- ✔️ Improve head comfort
- ✔️ Reduce heel pressure discomfort
- ✔️ Support vulnerable lower extremities
- ✔️ Improve long-term resting comfort
- ✔️ Help with pressure redistribution support
The heel area is especially important for patients with reduced mobility, since the heels can become sensitive pressure points when a patient remains in bed for long periods.
Firm High-Density Bottom Layer for Durability
The mattress includes a firm, high-density bottom layer designed for durability, stability, and long-term support.
This firm foundation helps:
- ✔️ Improve support under heavier users
- ✔️ Reduce excessive mattress compression
- ✔️ Support long-term durability
- ✔️ Create a more stable sleep surface
- ✔️ Improve caregiver confidence during repositioning
For a bariatric foam mattress, this bottom support layer is especially important because the mattress must maintain support while still allowing the upper foam layer to provide pressure redistribution.
Built-In Side Supports for Stability
Built-in side supports help add structure and stability to the mattress edges.
This can be helpful for:
- ✔️ Repositioning in bed
- ✔️ Sitting near the mattress edge
- ✔️ Caregiver-assisted transfers
- ✔️ Improving edge confidence
- ✔️ Supporting larger patients more securely
For bariatric users, side support is an important feature because weak mattress edges can make transfers and repositioning more difficult.
Fluid-Resistant Nylon Top Cover
The nylon top cover is fluid resistant and designed for easy cleaning.
This helps support:
- ✔️ Daily caregiver maintenance
- ✔️ Hygiene routines
- ✔️ Moisture protection
- ✔️ Easier wipe-clean care
- ✔️ Long-term mattress protection
This is especially valuable for homecare, nursing facilities, rehab centers, and long-term care environments where mattress hygiene and durability matter.
Tri-Laminate Vinyl Bottom Helps Prevent Slipping
The tri-laminate vinyl bottom helps prevent mattress slippage and adds durability to the underside of the support surface.
This helps:
- ✔️ Keep the mattress positioned better
- ✔️ Improve stability on the bed frame
- ✔️ Support adjustable bed movement
- ✔️ Reduce caregiver adjustment needs
- ✔️ Add durability to daily use
A stable bottom surface is especially helpful when the mattress is used on a bariatric hospital bed or adjustable medical bed.
Best For Bariatric Bed Sore Prevention Support
This bariatric mattress for bed sores is best for larger patients who need more than a basic mattress but may not require a powered air mattress system.
Best for:
- ✔️ Bariatric patients
- ✔️ Larger elderly users
- ✔️ Long-term bed users
- ✔️ Homecare bariatric patients
- ✔️ Rehab and recovery patients
- ✔️ Assisted living residents
- ✔️ Nursing facility patients
- ✔️ Patients needing pressure redistribution
- ✔️ Caregivers needing stable mattress support
For users who need a wider surface than the standard Solace Prevention mattress, this bariatric version provides the needed 42” width with added stability and pressure support features.
How It Compares to the Standard Solace Prevention Mattress
The standard Invacare Solace Prevention Mattress is designed for standard-width hospital bed use. This bariatric version is designed for larger users who need a wider surface and stronger supportive feel.
- ✔️ Standard Solace Prevention: best for 36” hospital beds
- ✔️ Bariatric Solace Prevention: best for 42” bariatric bed setups
- ✔️ Bariatric version includes wider support
- ✔️ Bariatric version includes built-in side supports
- ✔️ Both are designed for pressure redistribution support
If a patient needs standard 36” support, view the Invacare Solace Prevention Mattress. If the patient needs wider bariatric support, this 42” bariatric model is the better fit.
