Description

Joerns Hoyer 400-3016 Control Box Power Cable (Linak HME) for the HPL402 and HPL450 Lifts

This is the Joerns hoyer lift power cable for the Linak control box on the Hoyer HPL402 and HPL450 lifts: genuine Joerns part 400-3016, listed as “CABLEPOWER (CNTRL BOX) LINAK HME” in the HPL402 parts manual and again in the HPL450 service parts manual. It is a replacement cable, not a lift, and it isn’t the battery or the control box.

Joerns’ documents name this part and the lifts it belongs to, and that’s what we print. Joerns doesn’t publish the cable’s length or connector details, so we don’t guess at them. If your Hoyer HPL402 or Hoyer HPL450 has a damaged or missing control box power cable, this patient lift control box cable is the Joerns part for it.

Lifts change over their production run. Before you order, call us at 585-505-6665 with the lift’s serial number (Joerns says it’s on the base of the unit) and we’ll confirm 400-3016 is the cable your control box uses.

Why Choose the Genuine Joerns 400-3016 Cable?

The HPL402’s power unit runs the actuator from a 24 V battery through a Linak control box, and Joerns’ troubleshooting table for that box points to connections first: a power indicator that doesn’t light, or an actuator that doesn’t run, starts with checking the plugs and the mains connection. A frayed or cut cable is a cheap fix compared to a control box, and the genuine Joerns cable is the one Joerns lists for these lifts. If the problem turns out to be the box itself, see the Hoyer Battery Kit for Linak and the other Linak parts we carry.

Who Is This Cable Best For?

  • Owners of a Joerns Hoyer HPL402 with a damaged control box power cable
  • Owners of a Joerns Hoyer HPL450 whose service parts manual lists 400-3016
  • Facility maintenance staff keeping a spare for a fleet of Hoyer Classic lifts

Still choosing a lift? Our Patient Lift Knowledge Base and Patient Transfer Lift Assessment Tool can help.

Who May Need a Different Part?

  • Owners of any other lift: Joerns lists 400-3016 for the HPL402 and HPL450 only. Call us with your model and serial number.
  • Anyone whose battery won’t hold a charge: that’s the battery, not the cable. See the Hoyer Battery Kit for Linak.
  • HPL450 owners with the newer control boxes: Joerns’ HPL450 service manual also lists separate control boxes for the electric-leg and manual-leg models. Give us the serial number and we’ll check which cable your lift takes.

Listed by Joerns for the HPL402 and HPL450

Joerns’ HPL402 parts manual lists the control system this way: 400-3016 cable power (control box) Linak HME, 400-3003 battery 24 V box Linak HME, 400-3005 controller box Linak HM charger, 400-3404 actuator jack Linak HME, and 400-3007 control box mounting bracket. The HPL450 service parts manual lists 400-3016 under the same description. This listing is the cable only.

How the HPL402 Power Unit Works

Joerns describes the HPL402 power unit as a 2 x 12 V rechargeable sealed battery with a 120 V AC charger input and 24 V DC charger output, single-speed operation, emergency stop, emergency down, soft stop, and an LCD that shows battery capacity with an acoustic alarm at about 50%. The control box mounts to a bracket on the back of the mast, the battery pack attaches to the control box, and the actuator cable runs along the mast. The power cable is the link that keeps that box fed.

Common Problem → Joerns 400-3016 Cable Solution

Problem: A group home’s HPL402 stopped responding to the hand control after the lift was rolled over its own cable one too many times. The battery shows a charge, but the box is dead.

Solution: Joerns’ troubleshooting starts at the connections. A replacement 400-3016 control box power cable restores the feed without replacing the whole control box.

“How do we know it’s the right one?” Call us with the serial number from the base of the lift and we’ll confirm it against Joerns’ parts list before it ships.

Care & Cleaning

Route the cable along the mast and secure it with the clips Joerns provides, so it never lies where the casters can roll over it. Joerns’ service notes for its powered lifts say to inspect the hand control and cables for obvious signs of damage, because cable damage can cause intermittent failures. Wipe the cable with a damp cloth; never submerge it or spray the control box.

Warranty

Joerns’ Hoyer Classics warranty covers the HML400, HPL402 and C-HLA lifts for one year, with the electronic control box and actuator named as covered components, and says replacement parts are covered until the lift’s original warranty period expires. Joerns’ PDFs don’t state a separate term for a cable bought on its own, so ask us for the current Joerns warranty terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Joerns 400-3016 a charger?

No. Joerns lists it as the power cable for the Linak control box on the HPL402 and HPL450 lifts. The charger and battery are separate Joerns parts.

Which lifts does the 400-3016 cable fit?

Joerns’ HPL402 parts manual and HPL450 service parts manual both list 400-3016 as the control box power cable (Linak HME). For any other lift, call us at 585-505-6665 with the model and serial number.

How do I know this is the cable my lift needs?

Give us the serial number from the base of the lift. Joerns’ HPL450 manual lists more than one control box across the model’s run, so we’ll confirm against Joerns’ parts list before it ships.

Does it include the control box or battery?

No. This is the cable only. Joerns lists the control box with charger (400-3005) and the 24 V battery (400-3003) as separate parts.

How long is the cable?

Joerns doesn’t publish the length or connector details in its parts manuals, so we don’t print them. Call us if you need to confirm a fit before ordering.

My HPL402 won’t move but the battery shows a charge. Is it the cable?

It can be. Joerns’ troubleshooting for the HPL402 power unit starts with the connections: a power indicator that doesn’t light or an actuator that doesn’t run means checking the plugs into the control box first. If a cable is cut or crushed, replacing it is the simplest fix.

Can I install it myself?

The HPL402 manual shows the control box mounted on a bracket at the back of the mast with its cables routed along the mast and secured with clips. Follow the manual, keep the emergency stop pushed in while you work, and call us if anything is unclear.

What’s the warranty on a replacement cable?

Joerns’ Hoyer Classics warranty says replacement parts are covered until the lift’s original warranty period expires. Ask us for the current Joerns terms on a cable bought on its own.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
