Description

Advanced Alternating Pressure & Low Air Loss Mattress System for Pressure Relief and Long-Term Bed Care

The McKesson Alternating Pressure & Low Air Loss Mattress System is a therapeutic alternating pressure mattress system designed to help support pressure redistribution, skin protection, moisture management, and long-term patient comfort for individuals spending extended periods in bed.

Unlike basic foam hospital mattresses that only provide static support, this powered pressure relief air mattress actively cycles air pressure throughout the mattress to help reduce prolonged pressure concentration that commonly develops around the hips, tailbone, shoulders, back, and heels during long-term bed rest.

This complete system combines:

  • ✔️ Alternating pressure therapy
  • ✔️ Low air loss moisture management
  • ✔️ Adjustable patient comfort settings
  • ✔️ Static therapy support mode
  • ✔️ 20 individual therapeutic air cells
  • ✔️ Quilted fluid-resistant zippered cover
  • ✔️ Audio and visual low-pressure alarms
  • ✔️ CPR rapid-deflation emergency valve

The result is a highly effective hospital bed pressure mattress system ideal for homecare, nursing facilities, rehab centers, assisted living environments, and long-term patient care settings.

Why This Mattress System Stands Out

Many standard medical mattresses only provide passive foam support.

The McKesson system goes much further by combining:

  • ✔️ Active alternating pressure therapy
  • ✔️ Low air loss airflow technology
  • ✔️ Moisture and heat management support
  • ✔️ Dynamic pressure redistribution
  • ✔️ Adjustable immersion settings
  • ✔️ Static transfer support mode
  • ✔️ Replaceable therapeutic air cells
  • ✔️ Emergency CPR rapid-deflation system

This creates a more advanced therapeutic support surface specifically engineered for patients vulnerable to pressure injuries, prolonged immobility complications, and skin breakdown concerns.

How Alternating Pressure Therapy Works

The mattress uses 20 individual air cells that continuously inflate and deflate in alternating cycles.

Instead of allowing pressure to remain concentrated in one area for long periods, the mattress automatically redistributes support throughout the body over timed intervals.

This helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce prolonged pressure loading
  • ✔️ Improve immersion and envelopment
  • ✔️ Support circulation during bed rest
  • ✔️ Reduce pressure concentration areas
  • ✔️ Improve overall patient comfort
  • ✔️ Support pressure sore prevention programs

For patients who cannot reposition independently, this type of active therapy can be extremely important for long-term care and skin protection support.

Low Air Loss Technology for Moisture & Heat Control

One of the major causes of skin breakdown is excessive moisture and heat buildup during prolonged bed confinement.

This low air loss mattress system helps improve skin microclimate conditions by promoting airflow throughout the mattress surface.

This helps:

  • ✔️ Reduce moisture accumulation
  • ✔️ Improve airflow around the skin
  • ✔️ Support temperature regulation
  • ✔️ Reduce friction and shear concerns
  • ✔️ Help maintain a drier support surface
  • ✔️ Improve long-term bed comfort

This becomes especially valuable for:

  • ✔️ Elderly patients
  • ✔️ Long-term bedridden individuals
  • ✔️ Patients with fragile skin
  • ✔️ Bariatric users
  • ✔️ Patients prone to sweating or moisture buildup
  • ✔️ Pressure ulcer prevention programs

Static Mode for Transfers and Caregiving

The included control pump allows caregivers to switch between:

  • ✔️ Alternating pressure mode
  • ✔️ Static support mode

Static mode creates a firmer and more stable surface for:

  • ✔️ Patient transfers
  • ✔️ Repositioning assistance
  • ✔️ Nursing care procedures
  • ✔️ Dressing changes
  • ✔️ Bedside treatment
  • ✔️ Safer patient handling

This flexibility makes the mattress highly practical for both professional caregivers and family homecare environments.

20 Individual Therapeutic Air Cells

The mattress system includes:

  • ✔️ 20 individual 8-inch air cells
  • ✔️ Pillow-style head stabilization section
  • ✔️ EZ-lock quick-release tubing
  • ✔️ Replaceable cell system design
  • ✔️ Quilted zippered mattress base

The removable air cell design helps simplify servicing and maintenance while extending the lifespan of the system.

The pillow-style upper section also helps improve head stability and overall patient positioning comfort during long-term use.

Emergency CPR Quick Release System

The integrated CPR valve allows rapid mattress deflation during emergency situations when immediate CPR access is needed.

This is an important feature commonly found in professional therapeutic mattress systems used in:

  • ✔️ Hospitals
  • ✔️ Rehab centers
  • ✔️ Skilled nursing facilities
  • ✔️ Long-term care environments
  • ✔️ Hospice care settings
