Description
Medacure Gel Wheelchair Cushion – Cooling Pressure Relief for Long Days in the Chair
Medacure Premium gel wheelchair cushions for pressure sores pair a supportive foam base with a dual-compartment gel bladder that spreads pressure and draws heat away from the skin. Choose 2″ or 3″ and 16 sizes up to bariatric 30″ wide. Comparing cushions? Start with our wheelchair seat cushion buying guide and the wheelchair seat cushion knowledge base.
This wheelchair gel cushion keeps its gel where it belongs: the two-zone bladder prevents migration, so support stays even.
For users who need a wheelchair cushion for pressure relief over long hours, it is rated 250 lbs standard and 350 lbs bariatric, sold individually. Questions about sizing? Call us at 585-505-6665.
✅ Key Features
- ✔️ Dual-Compartment Gel Bladder, No Migration
- ✔️ Cooling Gel for Long Sitting
- ✔️ Waterproof, Breathable 2-Way Stretch Cover
- ✔️ Anti-Slip Bottom and 4 Tie Straps
- ✔️ 2″ or 3″ Thick, 16 Sizes up to 30″
- ✔️ 250 lb Standard, 350 lb Bariatric
Why Gel?
Sitting for hours concentrates pressure on the tailbone and sit bones and traps heat against the skin. Gel answers both. It shifts under the user to spread the load, and it conducts heat away, so the seat feels cooler over a long day. Together with a supportive foam base, that makes a gel cushion one of the most popular choices for full time wheelchair users who want more protection than foam alone.
Who Is It Best For?
- Full time wheelchair users who sit for long periods
- Users who run warm or perspire in the chair
- Users at moderate risk of pressure sores
- Bariatric users, with widths up to 30″ (3″ thick)
- Care facilities standardizing on one cushion line
Who May Need Something Else?
- Budget or part-time use: the Medacure foam wheelchair cushion is lighter and costs less.
- Existing wounds or very high risk: an air or alternating pressure cushion may be needed. See our pressure ulcer prevention guide.
Dual-Compartment Gel Bladder
The gel sits in a two-zone bladder that prevents gel migration. Each side keeps its gel, so the user stays level and supported, and the cushion does not develop thin spots after a few weeks of use.
Cooling Comfort
Gel efficiently conducts heat, delivering a cooling sensation during prolonged sitting. Paired with the breathable cover and aerated foam, it helps keep skin cooler and drier, which supports skin health.
Waterproof, Breathable Stretch Cover
The two-way stretch nylon top moves with the skin to reduce shear, stays waterproof and breathes. The anti-slip vinyl bottom grips the seat, four tie straps secure the cushion to the chair, and the cover is replaceable.
How to Pick the Right Size
Measure the wheelchair seat, not the person. Width is the distance between the armrests or seat rails; depth runs from the front edge of the seat to the backrest. The cushion should match both, so the user is supported from hip to hip and down the thighs without the cushion hanging over the front edge. Most standard wheelchairs are 16″, 18″ or 20″ wide with a 16″ or 18″ depth; bariatric chairs run 22″ to 30″ wide.
2″ vs 3″ at a Glance
| Thickness | Best For | Sizes |
| 2″ | Lower seat height, standard chairs | 16×16, 18×16, 18×18, 20×16, 20×18 |
| 3″ | Long sitting, more relief, bariatric chairs | 16×16 to 30×18 (11 sizes) |
Care Tips
- Wipe the cover with a mild disinfectant and let it dry
- Check the gel zones weekly for even fill
- Keep the stretch side up and the anti-slip side down
- Replace the cover if it tears, to protect the bladder

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a gel wheelchair cushion?
It is a seat cushion that combines a foam base with a layer of gel. The gel flows slightly under the user to spread pressure and draws heat away from the skin. Medacure’s has a dual-compartment gel bladder that prevents gel migration, inside a waterproof, breathable stretch cover.
Is gel better than foam for pressure sores?
Gel offers excellent pressure redistribution and conducts heat away from the skin, giving a cooling feel during prolonged sitting. Many users who sit for long hours or run warm prefer gel. For an existing wound, follow the care team’s plan; some users need an air or alternating pressure cushion.
What does the dual-compartment bladder do?
It keeps the gel split into two zones, so it cannot all flow to one side or the back of the cushion. The user stays supported evenly, and the gel does not need to be kneaded back into place.
2″ or 3″?
Choose 3″ for long sitting, more relief and bariatric widths. Choose 2″ when seat height matters, for example for foot propelling or sitting at a table.
What weight capacity does it have?
Medacure rates standard sizes for 250 lbs and bariatric sizes for 350 lbs.
Is the cover washable?
The two-way stretch nylon cover is waterproof, breathable and replaceable. Wipe it with a mild disinfectant, or remove it to clean.
Which sizes are available?
2″: 16×16, 18×16, 18×18, 20×16, 20×18. 3″: 16×16, 18×16, 18×18, 20×16, 20×18, 22×16, 22×18, 24×18, 26×18, 28×18, 30×18 (width x depth, inches).
What warranty does it have?
Medacure lists a 1 year warranty.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
