Description
Digital Low Air Loss & Alternating Pressure Support for Hospital Bed Pressure Ulcer Care
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX Hospital Air Mattress System is an advanced therapeutic air mattress for hospital bed use, designed for patients who need both low air loss and alternating pressure support in one complete powered mattress system.
Built for pressure ulcer treatment support, moisture control, patient cooling, skin protection, and long-term bed comfort, the Protekt® Aire 4000DX combines a digital adjustable pump with a therapeutic air mattress surface engineered to help reduce pressure buildup and keep the patient cooler and drier during extended bed rest.
Unlike a basic foam mattress or standard hospital mattress, this hospital air mattress provides two important therapies at the same time:
- ✔️ Alternating pressure therapy to shift pressure and reduce prolonged loading
- ✔️ Low air loss therapy to help manage heat, moisture, and skin comfort
Whether you are searching for:
- ✔️ An air mattress for hospital bed
- ✔️ A therapeutic hospital air mattress
- ✔️ A low air loss mattress
- ✔️ An alternating pressure mattress system
- ✔️ A powered mattress for pressure ulcers
- ✔️ A mattress for bedridden patients
- ✔️ A hospital bed mattress with digital pump
- ✔️ A moisture-control air mattress
- ✔️ A pressure relief air mattress system
- ✔️ A medical mattress for skin protection
the Protekt® Aire 4000DX is designed to provide advanced powered therapy, comfort, safety, and caregiver-friendly controls for homecare, nursing facilities, rehabilitation, hospice, and hospital environments.
Why the Protekt® Aire 4000DX Stands Out
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX stands out because it combines dual therapy, digital customization, transfer safety, moisture control, and pressure monitoring into one advanced mattress system.
✔️ Dual low air loss and alternating pressure therapy
✔️ Digital pump with LED touch controls
✔️ Adjustable weight-based pressure settings
✔️ Preset 10-minute alternating cycle
✔️ Static mode for safer transfers
✔️ Audio/visual low pressure alarm
✔️ ACST compressor sleep technology
✔️ 18 laser holes for cooling airflow
✔️ Quilted fluid-resistant nylon cover
✔️ Static head section for stability
✔️ Optional foam raised side rails
✔️ Supports patients up to 400 lbs.
Dual Therapy: Low Air Loss + Alternating Pressure
One of the biggest advantages of the Protekt® Aire 4000DX is that it combines two major therapeutic mattress technologies in one system.
Alternating Pressure Therapy
Alternating pressure therapy works by cycling air through the mattress cells in a preset rhythm. The Protekt® Aire 4000DX uses a 10-minute alternating pressure cycle, helping shift pressure away from one area of the body and onto another.
This helps reduce prolonged pressure on vulnerable areas such as:
- ✔️ Heels
- ✔️ Hips
- ✔️ Tailbone and sacrum
- ✔️ Back and shoulders
- ✔️ Areas affected by limited mobility
This is especially valuable for patients who:
- ✔️ Cannot reposition themselves easily
- ✔️ Spend many hours in bed
- ✔️ Are at risk for pressure ulcers
- ✔️ Need powered pressure redistribution support
- ✔️ Require caregiver assistance for turning and repositioning
Low Air Loss Therapy
Low air loss therapy helps move air through the mattress surface to support heat and moisture management. This is important because excess moisture and heat can increase discomfort and may contribute to skin irritation during long-term bed rest.
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX includes 18 laser holes designed to help keep the patient cooler and drier.
Low air loss support helps:
- ✔️ Reduce heat buildup
- ✔️ Improve airflow under the patient
- ✔️ Help manage perspiration
- ✔️ Support skin comfort
- ✔️ Improve long-term bed tolerance
Digital Pump with Adjustable LED Settings
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX includes a digital pump with an adjustable LED airflow touch panel, allowing caregivers to customize pressure settings based on the patient’s individual needs.
This is extremely important because different patients may require different support levels depending on:
- ✔️ Body weight
- ✔️ Comfort preference
- ✔️ Pressure ulcer risk
- ✔️ Mobility level
- ✔️ Care environment
- ✔️ Transfer needs
The adjustable digital controls make this air mattress for hospital bed use more precise and caregiver-friendly than basic non-adjustable air mattress systems.
Auto Compressor Sleep Technology for Longer Pump Life
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX pump includes Auto Compressor Sleep Technology, also known as ACST.
This feature shuts off the compressor once the desired pressure level is reached, helping:
- ✔️ Extend pump life cycle
- ✔️ Reduce unnecessary compressor use
- ✔️ Improve operating efficiency
- ✔️ Support quieter operation when pressure is maintained
- ✔️ Reduce strain on the pump system
For long-term care settings, this is a meaningful advantage because the pump is often running for extended periods.
Static Mode for Safer Patient Transfers
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX includes a static function designed to temporarily stop alternating cycles and create a more stable mattress surface.
This is especially helpful during:
- ✔️ Transfers in and out of bed
- ✔️ Repositioning
- ✔️ Caregiver-assisted turning
- ✔️ Wound care tasks
- ✔️ Clothing changes
- ✔️ Hygiene care
A constantly alternating surface can feel unstable during transfers, so static mode gives caregivers and patients a firmer, steadier surface when needed.
Audio/Visual Low Pressure Alarm for Safety Monitoring
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX includes an audio/visual low pressure alarm that alerts caregivers if airflow may be compromised.
This can help identify potential issues such as:
- ✔️ Disconnected tubing
- ✔️ Airflow interruption
- ✔️ Pressure loss
- ✔️ Improper setup
- ✔️ Mattress support concerns
This feature is especially important in homecare and facility settings where pressure loss could reduce therapeutic performance.
Mattress Surface, Cover & Patient Comfort
The mattress includes a quilted nylon top cover designed for comfort, protection, and medical use.
The cover is:
- ✔️ Fluid resistant
- ✔️ Anti-microbial
- ✔️ Anti-bacterial
- ✔️ Quilted for added comfort
- ✔️ Designed for long-term patient use
The system also includes a static head section, which helps prevent unnecessary head and neck movement during alternating pressure therapy.
This matters because patients often need pressure redistribution across the body while still maintaining a more stable head and neck area for comfort and safety.
Optional Raised Side Rails
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX is available in a standard configuration and a configuration with foam raised rails.
The optional raised rail model may help:
- ✔️ Add side edge definition
- ✔️ Improve patient edge awareness
- ✔️ Provide a more contained mattress feel
- ✔️ Support certain fall-risk care setups
- ✔️ Improve caregiver confidence during repositioning
The standard model measures approximately 36” x 80” x 8”, while the raised rail model adds additional side rail height, creating an 8”/11” profile depending on the section.
Who This Hospital Air Mattress Is Best For
The Protekt® Aire 4000DX is best suited for patients who need advanced powered therapy for pressure ulcer treatment support, moisture management, and long-term bed comfort.
Best for:
- ✔️ Patients requiring pressure ulcer treatment support
- ✔️ Elderly patients with limited mobility
- ✔️ Bedridden patients
