Description

Shoprider 6Runner 10 Mid Wheel Drive Power Chair – Stable Everyday Powered Mobility

For adults who need dependable powered mobility for everyday use, a mid wheel drive power chair can offer a useful combination of maneuverability, stability, seating comfort, and controlled joystick operation. The Shoprider 6Runner 10 is a mid-size power wheelchair built specifically for the daily user, combining a mid-wheel-drive system with six points of ground contact, a four-post seating system, suspension, reclining captain-style seating, and a 300 lb weight capacity.

What makes this Shoprider power wheelchair particularly distinctive is the way its mobility base is designed. The 10″ drive wheels are positioned between 7″ front and rear casters, creating six points of contact with the ground. Shoprider combines this configuration with its four-post seating system and suspension to provide stable, smooth powered mobility for regular daily operation.

The standard 6Runner 10 is also more than just its drive system. The current factory configuration includes a 19″W × 18″D captain seat, seat-mounted adjustable foot platform, fixed inline joystick with left- or right-side positioning, two 12V 36Ah batteries, 5A off-board charger, 10″ drive wheels, and red base. Buyers who need a different seating or positioning setup can choose from multiple optional captain seats, pan seats, joystick mounts, footrests, elevating leg rests, residual limb supports, and mobility accessories.

Why Choose the Shoprider 6Runner 10?

The 6Runner 10 is designed around a different priority than lightweight folding or take-apart power chairs. Rather than minimizing weight for frequent lifting into a vehicle, it provides a mid-size daily-use platform with mid-wheel drive, six points of ground contact, a stable four-post seating system, and a reclining captain-style seat.

This makes the 6Runner 10 particularly relevant for someone comparing power wheelchairs based on everyday maneuverability, seating comfort, stability, and configurable positioning rather than portability alone. Its approximately 24″ overall width and 42″ length provide a substantial mobility base while remaining sized for everyday powered mobility.

The chair supports users weighing up to 300 lbs and reaches a manufacturer-listed maximum speed of approximately 4.35 mph. It also provides 3″ of ground clearance and a manufacturer-listed safe climbing angle of 6° / 10%.

What Is a Mid Wheel Drive Power Chair?

A mid wheel drive power chair places the primary powered drive wheels near the middle of the wheelchair base, with caster wheels positioned toward the front and rear. On the Shoprider 6Runner 10, the result is a six-wheel layout consisting of two 10″ drive wheels, two 7″ front casters, and two 7″ rear casters.

Instead of having only front or rear casters supporting the drive-wheel configuration, the 6Runner 10 maintains six points of contact with the ground. Shoprider specifically highlights this as an added-stability feature of the chair and combines it with the four-post seating system and suspension for smooth drive operation.

For shoppers comparing a mid wheel drive power chair with rear-wheel- or front-wheel-drive alternatives, this drive layout is one of the most important characteristics to consider. The best drive configuration depends on the user’s environment, driving ability, seating needs, and the surfaces where the wheelchair will actually be operated.

Six Points of Ground Contact for Added Stability

The name 6Runner reflects one of the chair’s defining design characteristics: its six-wheel contact configuration. A front caster and rear caster are positioned on each side of the chair around the center drive wheels, creating six points of contact with the ground.

Shoprider specifically identifies this configuration as providing added stability. It is an important distinction for someone who wants an everyday power wheelchair but does not want to sacrifice a stable mobility base simply to obtain a compact or lightweight design.

The 6Runner 10 then adds a four-post seating system above that base. Together with the chair’s suspension, this creates a mobility platform designed around stable seating and smooth everyday powered operation.

Suspension for Smoother Everyday Driving

The 6Runner 10 incorporates suspension as part of its daily-use design. This works together with the six-wheel base and four-post seating system to help manage ordinary surface transitions encountered during powered mobility.

The chair uses 7″ solid front casters and 7″ solid rear casters surrounding the 10″ center drive wheels. Ground clearance is approximately 3 inches, while Shoprider specifies a safe climbing angle of 6° / 10%.

The 6Runner 10 should not be confused with a purpose-built off-road or all-terrain power wheelchair. Its strengths are better understood as stable, controlled daily mobility across appropriate indoor and maintained outdoor surfaces within the manufacturer’s operating limitations.

Reclining Captain-Style Seating for Daily Comfort

A power wheelchair intended for regular use needs to provide more than powered movement. Seating matters because the user may spend significant portions of the day in the chair. Shoprider therefore equips the 6Runner 10 with reclining captain-style seating.

The current Shoprider order form identifies the standard seat as a 19″W × 18″D captain seat. This gives the standard 6Runner 10 a comfortable adult seating configuration without requiring an immediate seating upgrade.

The reclining seat is especially worth distinguishing from powered seating systems. The 6Runner 10 has a reclining captain-style seat; it should not be interpreted as having a powered recline function unless a separately documented powered seating option is specifically selected.

Multiple Optional Seat Sizes and Seating Styles

Not every power wheelchair user requires the same seat dimensions. Shoprider therefore offers a substantial range of optional seating configurations for the 6Runner 10 in addition to its standard 19″ × 18″ captain seat.

Available factory seating includes 18″W × 17.5″D captain seats, 19″W × 18″D captain seats, a 20″W × 18″D pillow-top captain seat, and 21″W × 21″D captain seats. Pan-seat configurations are also available in 16″W × 16″D, 18″W × 18″D, 18″W × 20″D, and 20″W × 20″D sizes.

Seat upgrades are optional and may involve an additional charge. If the standard 19″ × 18″ seat does not match the user’s needs, call MedCare Mobility at 585-505-6665 or chat with a live agent before ordering. We can help review the available factory seating configurations and current upgrade options.

Left- or Right-Side Joystick Control

The standard 6Runner 10 includes a fixed inline joystick mount that can be configured for either left- or right-side operation. This allows the standard control position to be matched to the user’s preferred operating side.

Shoprider also offers several optional joystick mounting systems. Available upgrades include swing-away, pin-style length-adjustable, and magnetic length-adjustable joystick mounts, with left- and right-side configurations available.

Ordering Note: Please enter LEFT or RIGHT for your preferred standard joystick position in the Order Notes during checkout.

Adjustable Foot Platform Comes Standard

The standard 6Runner 10 includes a seat-mounted foot platform with approximately 11.5″–18.5″ of adjustment. This provides a central foot-support configuration as part of the standard wheelchair rather than requiring separate footrests.

For users whose positioning needs call for individual leg support, Shoprider offers optional swing-away footrests with approximately 17″–19.5″ of adjustment and swing-away elevating leg rests with approximately 18″–21″ of adjustment.

Left- and right-side residual limb supports are also available. Shoprider notes that these supports are not compatible with the 21″ × 21″ seating systems.

Are Elevating Leg Rests Included?

No. Elevating leg rests are an optional configuration. The standard 6Runner 10 comes with the adjustable seat-mounted foot platform. Swing-away footrests, elevating leg rests, and residual limb supports should be selected separately when required.

Dual 36Ah Batteries and Easy Battery Access

The current technical configuration uses two 12V 36Ah batteries, with each battery weighing approximately 22 lbs. A 5A off-board charger is included with the standard chair.

Shoprider lists the 6Runner 10 with a driving range of up to approximately 8 miles after the initial break-in period. Actual range can vary with battery condition, user weight, terrain, slopes, temperature, charging practices, driving behavior, installed equipment, and overall wheelchair care.

Shoprider also highlights easy battery access as one of the 6Runner 10’s primary design features, an important practical consideration for ongoing battery inspection, service, or eventual replacement.

Who Is the Shoprider 6Runner 10 Best For?

The 6Runner 10 is designed for the daily power wheelchair user. It may be worth considering for adults who have difficulty walking the distances required for normal activities and need joystick-controlled powered mobility as part of their regular routine.

Potential users may include people living with significant walking limitations, reduced endurance, lower-extremity weakness, arthritis-related mobility difficulty, balance or mobility limitations, neurological or neuromuscular mobility limitations, or other physical disabilities. A diagnosis alone does not determine whether this particular power chair is appropriate. Seating requirements, transfers, physical abilities, control access, environment, and the ability to safely operate powered mobility should all be considered.

For someone comparing power chairs primarily for frequent lifting, airline travel, or easy disassembly into a car, the 6Runner 10 is probably not the right category of wheelchair. At approximately 176.47 lbs before variations caused by installed options, it is a substantial daily-use power chair rather than an ultra-light travel chair.

6Runner 10 vs. a Portable Power Wheelchair

The main difference comes down to priorities. A lightweight portable power wheelchair typically focuses on low component weight, folding, or quick disassembly for transportation. The Shoprider 6Runner 10 instead prioritizes a mid-wheel-drive base, six points of ground contact, four-post seating, suspension, reclining captain-style seating, and extensive factory configuration options.

That distinction matters because there is no single power wheelchair design that is best for every user. Someone who regularly loads a chair into a vehicle may place component weight at the top of the list. Someone who primarily needs a mid wheel drive power chair for regular daily mobility may place greater value on the 6Runner 10’s seating platform, drive configuration, stability features, and available positioning options.

Standard 6Runner 10 Configuration

The standard factory configuration is important to understand before comparing prices or ordering optional equipment. The current Shoprider 6Runner 10 configuration includes:

  • ✔ 300 lb maximum weight capacity
  • ✔ 19″ × 18″ captain seat
  • ✔ Mid-wheel drive mobility system
  • ✔ Six-point ground contact design
  • ✔ Four-post seating system
  • ✔ Seat-mounted adjustable foot platform
  • ✔ Fixed inline joystick mount
  • ✔ Left or right joystick positioning
  • ✔ Dual 12V 36Ah batteries
  • ✔ 5A off-board battery charger
  • ✔ 10″ center drive wheels
  • ✔ Red standard base color

Optional Upgrades and Custom Configurations

The standard 6Runner 10 is well equipped, but Shoprider also provides substantial factory configuration flexibility for users who need something different from the base setup.

Optional upgrades include alternative captain and pan seating, a 20″ pillow-top captain seat, 21″ captain seating, swing-away joystick mounts, pin-adjustable joystick mounts, magnetic-adjustable joystick mounts, swing-away footrests, swing-away elevating leg rests, and left- or right-side residual limb supports.

Need to Customize Your 6Runner 10?
Optional seating, joystick mounts, footrests, elevating leg rests, residual limb supports, and other configurations may involve additional charges and compatibility requirements. Call MedCare Mobility at 585-505-6665 or chat with a live agent before ordering, and we can help review the available factory options for your configuration.

Available Shoprider 6Runner 10 Accessories

The 6Runner 10 can also be equipped with several factory accessories for everyday mobility and equipment-carrying needs. Current options include a metal oxygen tank holder, walker holder, mesh oxygen tank holder, cup holder, and cane & crutch holder.

Shoprider also offers a transit tie-down kit identified specifically as unoccupied. This distinction is important: the available tie-down kit should not be interpreted as approval for a person to remain seated in the 6Runner 10 during motor-vehicle transportation.

Accessory availability and pricing can change. For help adding accessories to the wheelchair, call 585-505-6665 or chat with a live MedCare Mobility agent.

Common Mobility Problem → 6Runner 10 Solution

Problem: Walking longer distances has become difficult, but a lightweight travel chair does not provide the substantial seating platform or everyday drive configuration the user wants.

6Runner 10 Solution: The chair combines mid-wheel drive, six points of ground contact, four-post seating, suspension, reclining captain-style seating, and 300 lb capacity in a power wheelchair designed for daily use.

Problem: The standard seating or foot support on a basic power chair does not match the user’s positioning needs.

6Runner 10 Solution: Shoprider provides multiple optional seat sizes and styles along with swing-away footrests, elevating leg rests, residual limb supports, and alternative joystick mounts, allowing the chair to be configured beyond its standard setup.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
