Description

Joerns Hoyer 0Y0462 Battery for the 4-Point Adaptive Positioning Powered Cradle (Presence and Stature Lifts)

This is the Joerns spreader bar battery for the Hoyer 4-point Adaptive Positioning Powered Cradle: genuine Joerns part 0Y0462, listed in the cradle’s manual simply as “Battery.” It powers the cradle’s actuator, the motor that sits the person up or reclines them. It does not power the lift itself. For the lift’s own battery see the Hoyer 0Y0067 Lift Battery.

Joerns specifies it as a 24 V DC rechargeable sealed NiMH battery with 1400 mAh capacity, weighing 0.5 kg. It’s held in the cradle’s control box by magnets: Joerns says to “simply pull the battery straight out of the control box on the cradle,” and it aligns itself in the charger the same way. The cradle gives one long beep when a battery is seated properly.

Joerns ships the 4-Point Adaptive Positioning Powered Cradle with two batteries so one can charge while the other works. This hoyer lift cradle battery is the spare or replacement for that setup. Not sure your cradle takes it? Call us at 585-505-6665 before you order.

Why Choose the Genuine Joerns 0Y0462 Battery?

Joerns’ manual says the battery and charger are “not to be opened by unauthorized personnel” and to contact Joerns or your distributor for warranty and repairs, so the right move when a cradle battery fades is a genuine replacement, not a repair. The powered cradle’s warning beeps tell you when: two short beeps every 24 seconds mean low battery, and one long beep during operation means the charge is too low and only a reclined position can be reached. Joerns’ instruction at that point is to “replace the battery with a fully charged battery.”

Who Is This Battery Best For?

  • Owners of the Hoyer 4-point Adaptive Positioning Powered Cradle (with or without scale) on a Presence or Stature lift
  • Facilities that want a spare so a charged battery is always ready for the cradle
  • Anyone replacing a cradle battery that no longer holds a charge

Still choosing a lift? Our Patient Lift Knowledge Base and Patient Transfer Lift Assessment Tool can help.

Who May Need a Different Battery?

  • Anyone whose lift won’t raise or lower: that’s the lift’s power pack, not this battery. See the Hoyer 0Y0067 Lift Battery or the Hoyer Battery Kit for Linak.
  • Owners of the manual (non-powered) 4-point cradle: it has no actuator and uses no battery.
  • Owners of another maker’s lift or cradle: Joerns says the Hoyer 4-point Adaptive Power Cradle fits the Hoyer Presence and Stature lifts only.

24 V Sealed NiMH, 1400 mAh

Joerns’ electrical specification for the cradle lists “Batteries 24VDC, rechargeable NiMH sealed” with a capacity of 1400 mAh and an IP50 rating. Operating temperature is -5°C to +70°C and storage -40°C to +85°C. Joerns doesn’t publish a run time per charge or a cycle count, so we don’t quote one.

Magnetic Fit, No Tools

There’s nothing to unscrew. Joerns says the battery “is retained by a magnetic force,” so you pull it straight out of the cradle’s control box and set it in the charger, where it “will automatically align itself.” When you fit a charged battery back into the control box, one long beep confirms it’s seated and the cradle is ready.

Charging the 0Y0462

Use the Joerns charger made for this cradle: part 0Y0458 with the US lead, sold separately. Joerns’ steps: connect the power lead to the charger, set the battery in the charging unit, plug the charger into the wall. An amber light shows power, a flashing green light shows charging, and a steady green light means fully charged. Joerns says a charge takes approximately 6 hours and that “the charger WILL NOT allow the battery to overcharge.”

Battery Care, in Joerns’ Words

Joerns’ manual is specific about this battery:

  • “KEEP the battery fully charged. Place the battery on charge whenever it is not in use. If it is more convenient to do so, place on charge every night.”
  • “Never run the battery completely flat. As soon as the audible warning sounds, complete the lifting operation in hand and place on charge.”
  • “Never store the battery for long periods without regular charging throughout the storage period. This can result in damage to the battery preventing it from being charged correctly.”
  • “Do not touch battery/charger terminals.”
  • Charge the batteries fully before using the cradle for the first time.

Common Problem → Joerns 0Y0462 Battery Solution

Problem: A facility’s powered cradle beeps low-battery halfway through the morning rounds, and the only battery they have is the one in the cradle.

Solution: A second 0Y0462 lives on the charger. When the beeps start, the aide swaps batteries in seconds (pull out, snap in, one long beep) and the flat one goes on charge, the way Joerns sets the cradle up from the factory with two batteries.

“Can we leave it on the charger overnight?” Joerns says yes: place it on charge every night if that’s convenient, and the charger won’t overcharge it.

Care & Cleaning

Wipe the battery case with a cloth; don’t spray it or submerge it, and keep the terminals clean and untouched. The charger has no water rating and must not be used in a wet environment. A battery that no longer takes a charge after proper storage and charging should be replaced; Joerns says not to open it.

Warranty

Under Joerns’ HoyerPro lift warranty, DC batteries are covered for 90 days after the date of delivery as wear parts. Ask us for the current Joerns warranty terms on a battery bought on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this battery power the Hoyer lift?

No. The 0Y0462 powers the 4-point Adaptive Positioning Powered Cradle’s actuator (the motor that sits the person up or reclines them). The lift’s mast and legs run on the lift’s own power pack, which is a different battery.

Which cradles and lifts does the 0Y0462 fit?

Joerns lists it as the battery for the Hoyer 4-point Adaptive Power Cradle, and says that cradle fits the Hoyer Presence and Stature lifts only. If you’re not sure your cradle is the powered version, call us at 585-505-6665.

What are the battery’s specs?

Joerns specifies a 24 V DC rechargeable sealed NiMH battery, 1400 mAh, 0.5 kg, rated IP50.

How do I know the battery is low?

The cradle’s control box gives two short beeps every 24 seconds when the battery is low. One long beep during operation means the charge is too low for anything but a reclined position; Joerns says to replace it with a fully charged battery.

How long does it take to charge?

Joerns says approximately 6 hours. A flashing green light on the charger means it’s charging and a steady green light means it’s full.

Can I overcharge it?

Joerns says no: the charger will not allow the battery to overcharge, and it recommends putting the battery on charge whenever it’s not in use, even every night.

How do I remove it from the cradle?

Pull it straight out. Joerns says the battery is held in the control box by magnetic force, and it aligns itself in the charger the same way. One long beep confirms a battery is seated in the cradle.

Does it come with a charger?

No. The charger is a separate Joerns part (0Y0458 with the US lead). The powered cradle itself ships from Joerns with a charger and two batteries; this listing is a spare or replacement battery.

How should I store a spare battery?

On the charger, or charged regularly. Joerns warns that storing the battery for long periods without regular charging can damage it so it won’t charge correctly, and never to run it completely flat.

Is the battery covered by a warranty?

Joerns’ HoyerPro lift warranty covers DC batteries for 90 days after delivery as wear items. Ask us for the current Joerns terms on a battery bought separately.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
