Description
Medacure FSB-L Linak Hoyer Lift Battery for Free Spirit Patient Lifts
The Medacure FSB-L is the hoyer lift battery made for every Medacure Free Spirit electric lift. It is the original quick release Linak battery, so it drops into place in seconds and the lift is ready for the next transfer. New to lifts? Read our patient lift buying guide and the patient lift knowledge base.
As a linak battery for patient lift use, it matches the Linak actuator system Medacure builds into the Free Spirit range, from the 450 lb FS450-L to the 850 lb FS850 Pro and the sit-to-stand models.
Whether you are replacing a worn patient lift battery or adding a charged spare, the FSB-L keeps lift downtime close to zero. Questions about fit? Call us at 585-505-6665.
✅ Key Features
- ✔️ Genuine Linak Battery for Free Spirit Lifts
- ✔️ Fits FS450-L, FS660-L, FS850 and STS Lifts
- ✔️ Quick Release, Swap in Seconds
- ✔️ Charge On Board or in External Stand
- ✔️ Charge Level Shown on Lift Display
- ✔️ Keeps a Spare Ready, No Downtime
Why Lift Batteries Matter
A powered patient lift is only as dependable as its battery. A tired battery can stop a lift partway through a transfer or leave caregivers waiting for a recharge. Replacing a worn battery, or keeping a charged spare on hand, keeps transfers safe and on schedule. The FSB-L is the same Linak battery Medacure fits to its Free Spirit lifts, so fit and connection are exactly right.
Who Is It For?
- Owners of a Medacure Free Spirit electric lift whose battery no longer holds a charge
- Caregivers who want a charged spare for a quick swap
- Facilities running a lift on several shifts
- Anyone pairing a second battery with the external charger with stand
Compatible Lifts
Medacure lists the FSB-L for all Free Spirit series lifts:
- FS450-L electric patient lift, 450 lbs
- FS660-L bariatric patient lift, 660 lbs
- FS850 Pro true bariatric lift, 850 lbs
- FS450STS-L sit-to-stand lift, 450 lbs
- FS600STS-L bariatric sit-to-stand lift, 600 lbs
The manual FS450-H hydraulic lift and FS400-STS manual stand aid do not use a battery.
Quick Release Design
Free Spirit lifts are built around a quick release battery that eliminates downtime. The battery lifts straight off its bracket and the next one clicks on, so a swap takes seconds and the patient is not kept waiting.
Two Ways to Charge
Charge the battery on the lift using the charger plug, which stores in a charger case on the lift so it is always at hand. Or charge it off the lift in the separate external charger with stand, which lets one battery charge while another runs the lift.
Spare Battery Planning
For a lift used a few times a day at home, one battery charged overnight is usually enough, and a spare is peace of mind. For heavy daily use or a facility lift that serves several residents, two batteries and the external charger with stand let one charge while the other works, so the lift never waits on the wall outlet.
Battery Care Tips
- Charge after each day of use, or when the LCD shows low charge
- Avoid running the battery completely flat as a habit
- Store spares charged, in a cool, dry place
- Keep contacts clean and dry
- Inspect the casing for cracks; replace a damaged battery
Safety Reminder
Before each transfer, check the charge level on the display. Know where the emergency stop and CPR lowering function are on your lift. Never charge a battery that is wet or damaged, and follow the lift’s manual for charging.
What’s Included
One Linak FSB-L battery for Medacure Free Spirit series lifts. Charger not included; see the external charger with stand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which lifts does the FSB-L battery fit?
Medacure lists the FSB-L as the Linak battery for all Free Spirit series lifts, including the Free Spirit FS450-L, FS660-L bariatric, FS850 Pro bariatric, FS450STS-L sit-to-stand and FS600STS-L bariatric sit-to-stand. If your lift is a different brand, check its battery model first.
How do I remove and replace the battery?
The Free Spirit uses a quick release battery. Lift it off its bracket on the mast and click the new or charged battery into place. There are no tools and no wiring to connect.
Can I charge the battery while it is on the lift?
Yes. The battery can be charged on board through the lift’s charger plug, or off the lift in the optional external charger with stand (FSC-L-EXT).
Why keep a spare battery?
With a second battery charged and ready, a caregiver can swap batteries in seconds and the lift is never out of service. That matters in homes with frequent transfers and in facilities that use one lift for several residents.
How do I know when to charge?
The LCD display on the Free Spirit lift shows the battery charge level. Charge when it reads low, and do not run the battery fully flat on a regular basis.
What if the battery runs out mid-transfer?
Free Spirit lifts have a CPR function that lowers and raises the lift when the battery is discharged, so the patient can be brought down safely. Charge or swap the battery right after.
How long does a lift battery last?
Battery life depends on use, charging habits and storage temperature. Most caregivers replace a lift battery when it no longer holds a charge for a normal day of transfers. Keep batteries charged during storage.
Is this an original Medacure part?
Yes. FSB-L is Medacure’s own part number for the Linak battery used on Free Spirit lifts.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
