Description

Invacare EasyGlide Transport Chair – 19″ Companion-Pushed Chair, Classic or Flex

The Invacare EasyGlide transport chair is a 19″ companion-pushed chair for short trips: doctor visits, the pharmacy, a day out with family, or getting around a facility. It comes in three models, so you can pick the arm style and frame that suit how you’ll use it, and every version has swing-away footrests that move out of the way for getting in and out. Invacare rates it for 250 lbs.

This Invacare transport chair comes in three versions. The EasyGlide Classic is the steel chair with fixed arms. The EasyGlide Flex adds removable desk-length arms and comes with a steel frame or a lighter aluminum frame. Each model comes in black or blue, and you choose the model and color from the dropdowns above.

A 19 inch transport chair is not the same as a wheelchair. It has small rear wheels and no push rims, so the person sitting in it can’t roll themselves; a caregiver pushes from behind. That makes it simpler and easier to handle than a full-size chair, which is why families often keep one in the car or by the door.

Why Choose the Invacare EasyGlide Transport Chair?

Most transport chairs come one way, and you take the arms and frame you’re given. The EasyGlide gives you three choices from Invacare under one name: a fixed-arm steel chair, a removable-arm steel chair, and a removable-arm aluminum chair. That means you can match the chair to the rider and the caregiver instead of making do.

If the rider slides sideways into a car seat or onto a bed, the Flex arms come off so nothing is in the way. If the caregiver has to lift the chair into a trunk several times a week, the aluminum Flex is the lighter frame to lift. If you just need a simple chair for occasional outings, the Classic covers it.

Who Is the Invacare EasyGlide Transport Chair Best For?

The EasyGlide transport chair is a good fit for:

  • Seniors who can walk short distances at home but tire out on longer outings
  • Caregivers who push a parent or spouse to appointments, stores and family events
  • People recovering from surgery or an illness who need a ride for a few weeks or months
  • Riders who transfer sideways to a car seat, bed or toilet (the Flex models with removable arms)
  • Families who want a second, simpler chair for the car alongside a full-size wheelchair at home

Still deciding between a transport chair and a wheelchair? Our Manual Wheelchair Knowledge Base explains the types, and the Manual Wheelchair Assessment Tool asks a few questions to point you to the right one.

Who May Need a Different Chair?

  • People who want to push themselves: a transport chair has small rear wheels with no push rims. Choose a wheelchair with large rear wheels, such as the Invacare EasyGlide Wheelchair.
  • People who need their legs raised: the EasyGlide transport chair comes with swing-away footrests only. The EasyGlide Wheelchair is offered with elevating legrests.
  • Larger riders: Invacare rates this chair for 250 lbs. Above that, look at a bariatric chair.
  • People who sit all day: a transport chair is made for trips, not for sitting many hours a day. A full wheelchair with a cushion is usually the better daily chair.

250 lb Weight Capacity

Invacare rates the EasyGlide transport chair for 250 lbs. Invacare says that’s 250 lbs evenly distributed, on a reinforced frame made for routine transport use. If the rider is close to that number, call us before you order.

Folds to 9″ Wide With a Fold-Down Backrest

The backrest folds down, and the chair folds to just 9″ wide and 29″ high from the floor to the top of the chair, according to Invacare. That smaller shape is what makes it easier to lift into a trunk or slide behind a door. The EasyGlide comes fully assembled, so there’s nothing to put together when it arrives.

Padded Comfort and Safety Details

Invacare pads the seat, back and arms, and the EasyGlide has a seatbelt, push-to-lock wheel brakes that hold the chair still during transfers, a storage pocket and ergonomic push handles. Integrated curb assistants give the caregiver a place to press with a foot when tipping the front wheels up a small step.

Safety notes from Invacare’s manual: the weight limit is 250 lbs evenly distributed, the chair is not approved as a seat in a motor vehicle, and you shouldn’t try to ride over curbs or obstacles or leave an empty chair on a slope. Read the owner’s manual before first use.

Transport Chair vs. Wheelchair: Who Does the Pushing

This is the main thing to understand before you buy. On a wheelchair, the rear wheels are large and have push rims, so the rider can roll the chair with their hands. On a transport chair like the EasyGlide, the rear wheels are small, so the chair is meant to be pushed by a companion using the push handles. On the EasyGlide, Invacare lists 8″ wheels all around, front and rear.

The trade is simple: the rider gives up the ability to wheel themselves, and in return the chair is smaller and easier for the caregiver to handle. If the rider will be alone at times and needs to get around, choose a wheelchair. If someone will always be with them, a transport chair is often the easier choice.

Fixed Arms (Classic) or Removable Desk Arms (Flex)

The Classic has fixed arms. They stay put, which some riders like for a steady feel when sitting down and standing up, but you can’t take them off.

The Flex has flip-back, removable desk arms. The arm flips back out of the way or lifts off completely, so the rider can slide sideways onto a bed, car seat or commode without climbing over it. “Desk” means the arm pad is shorter at the front, which lets the rider roll closer to a table or desk. If transfers are part of the daily routine, the Flex is the one to pick.

Steel or Aluminum Frame

The Classic and one Flex version have steel frames. The other Flex version has an aluminum frame. Aluminum is a lighter metal than steel, so the aluminum Flex is the one to choose if the caregiver will be lifting the chair into a car often. Invacare lists the chair weight as 28.88 lbs for the Classic, 25.13 lbs for the Flex Aluminum and 33 to 36.37 lbs for the steel Flex (the owner’s manual and the brochure differ on that one). The steel versions cost less and work well for chairs that mostly stay in one place.

Swing-Away Footrests on Every Model

All three EasyGlide transport chair models come with swing-away footrests. They swing out to the side so the rider can stand up, sit down or step out without the footplates in the way, and swing back in for the ride.

Choosing Your Options

There are two dropdowns: Model and Color. All six combinations are 19″ chairs with swing-away footrests; the model sets the arms and the frame material.

Model Frame Arms Footrests Invacare item #
Classic Steel Fixed arms Swing-away EGTC19STFSBK (Black), EGTC19STFSBU (Blue)
Flex (steel) Steel Removable desk arms Swing-away EGTC19STRSBK (Black), EGTC19STRSBU (Blue)
Flex Aluminum Aluminum Removable desk arms Swing-away EGTC19ALRSBK (Black), EGTC19ALRSBU (Blue)

How to pick the model: start with transfers. If the rider stands up and turns to sit, the Classic with fixed arms is fine. If the rider slides sideways into a car or onto a bed, choose a Flex so the arm comes off. Then think about lifting: if the chair goes in and out of a trunk often, the Flex Aluminum is the lighter frame. If you’re not sure, call us at 585-505-6665 and we’ll help you choose.

Color: Black or Blue. The color doesn’t change the size or the features, so pick the one you like.

EasyGlide Transport Chair vs. EasyGlide Wheelchair

Both are Invacare EasyGlide chairs in black or blue with swing-away footrests. The EasyGlide Wheelchair has large rear wheels so the rider can push themselves, comes in 16″, 18″ and 20″ seat widths, and can be ordered with elevating legrests. The EasyGlide transport chair is the companion-pushed version: one 19″ seat width, small rear wheels, and a choice of fixed or removable arms and a steel or aluminum frame. If the rider needs to move on their own, choose the wheelchair; if someone will always push, the transport chair is simpler to handle.

Common Problem → EasyGlide Transport Chair Solution

Problem: Mom can walk around the house, but a trip to the doctor or the mall wears her out after a few minutes. Her full-size wheelchair is a struggle to lift into the car, and getting her from the chair into the passenger seat means lifting her over the armrest.

Solution: The EasyGlide Flex Aluminum gives her a seat for the outing, a lighter frame for the trunk, and arms that lift out so she can slide sideways into the car seat. The swing-away footrests move aside so her feet are clear when she stands.

“Can she push it herself if I step away?” No. A transport chair is pushed by a companion. If she needs to wheel herself, look at the EasyGlide Wheelchair.

Sizing & Fit

The EasyGlide transport chair has a 19″ seat width. A simple check: measure the rider across the widest part of the hips while seated, and add about 2″. If that comes to 19″ or a little less, the chair should fit comfortably. Invacare lists the seat depth as 16″ (15.75″ in the owner’s manual) and the seat height as 19.5″ from the floor. If the rider is between sizes or close to the weight limit, call us before you order.

Warranty

Invacare’s EasyGlide Transport brochures list a 3 Year Limited Warranty, while the warranty page in the owner’s manual lists 13 months from the date of purchase. We’ll confirm the current Invacare terms for you before you order; just ask.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Invacare EasyGlide transport chair?

It’s a 19″ Invacare transport chair that a companion pushes, rated for 250 lbs. It comes in three models (Classic steel with fixed arms, Flex steel with flip-back removable desk arms, Flex aluminum with the same arms), each with a black or blue frame and swing-away footrests.

Can the rider push the EasyGlide transport chair themselves?

No. All four wheels are 8″, with no large push-rim wheels, so a caregiver pushes it. If the rider needs to wheel themselves, choose a wheelchair such as the Invacare EasyGlide Wheelchair.

What’s the difference between the Classic and the Flex?

The arms. The Classic has fixed padded arms; the Flex has desk-length arms that flip back or come off for side transfers and let the rider roll closer to a table. The Flex also comes with an aluminum frame.

How much does the EasyGlide transport chair weigh?

Invacare lists 28.88 lbs for the Classic and 25.13 lbs for the Flex Aluminum. For the steel Flex, the owner’s manual says 33 lbs and the brochure says 36.37 lbs. If weight matters most, the Flex Aluminum is the lightest.

How much weight can the EasyGlide transport chair hold?

Invacare rates it for 250 lbs, evenly distributed. Users over 250 lbs should not use it.

What are the seat measurements?

The seat is 19″ wide and about 16″ deep (15.75″ in the owner’s manual), 19.5″ from the floor, with an 18.5″ back height. Measure the rider across the hips while seated and add about 2″; if that comes to about 19″ or less, it should fit.

Does the EasyGlide transport chair fold for the car?

Yes. The backrest folds down and the chair folds to 9″ wide and 29″ high, per Invacare, so it fits in most trunks and closets.

Does it come with elevating legrests?

No. Every EasyGlide transport chair has swing-away footrests, which swing out to the side for standing and transfers. If the rider needs leg elevation, the EasyGlide Wheelchair is offered with elevating legrests.

Does it arrive assembled?

Yes. Invacare ships the EasyGlide transport chair fully assembled. Unfold it, check the brakes and footrests, and read the owner’s manual before first use.

Is black or blue the frame or the fabric?

The frame. Invacare lists black and blue as frame colors. The size and features are the same either way.

Is a transport chair or a wheelchair better for a senior?

It depends on who moves the chair. If someone will always push, a transport chair is smaller and easier to handle. If the senior needs to get around on their own, choose a wheelchair. Our Manual Wheelchair Knowledge Base walks through both.

What warranty comes with the EasyGlide transport chair?

Ask us to confirm. Invacare’s brochures list a 3 Year Limited Warranty, but the warranty page in the owner’s manual lists 13 months, so we’ll check the current terms with Invacare for you.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
