Description

Medacure ProEx Memory Foam Hospital Bed Mattress – 3-Layer Pressure Redistribution Mattress with Heel Slope

The Medacure ProEx is a memory foam hospital bed mattress built for patients who spend long hours in bed and are at risk of pressure ulcers. Three layers of high density European foam get softer toward the top, a convoluted surface spreads body weight, and memory foam in a sloped heel section takes pressure off the heels. Not sure which mattress type you need? Start with our hospital bed mattress buying guide, then the medical mattress knowledge base for quick answers.

It comes in the bed frame sizes used in homes and long term care, including the common 36 x 80 hospital bed mattress size, an 84″ extra long, a 76″ short length, and 42″ and 48″ bariatric widths rated for 550 lbs. A version with a 2″ raised side perimeter is available for added fall protection.

Medacure designs the ProEx as a pressure ulcer prevention mattress, effective through Stage II wound therapy, and wraps it in a waterproof, hospital grade cover with an anti-slip base and elastic straps that hold it on the bed. Pick your size in the dropdown above, or call 585-505-6665 for help.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ 3-Layer Pressure Redistribution Foam
  • ✔️ Memory Foam Heel Slope
  • ✔️ Effective Through Stage II (Medacure)
  • ✔️ Waterproof, Anti-Shear Hospital Grade Cover
  • ✔️ Anti-Slip Base with Elastic Straps
  • ✔️ 36″ to 48″ Wide, Bariatric to 550 lb

Why Choose the ProEx Memory Foam Mattress?

Most basic hospital bed mattresses are a single slab of foam. The ProEx is engineered in layers: a firm, high resilient base that stops bottoming out, a progressive middle, and a convoluted top with memory foam, so the patient sinks in enough to spread pressure without feeling unsupported. Multiple pressure zones and a heel slope target the places bed sores start. It is made from 100% polyurethane foam with no fillers, designed and produced in Europe.

Who Is the ProEx Best For?

  • Patients in bed for long periods who are at risk of pressure ulcers
  • Home care and long term care hospital beds that need a reliable everyday therapeutic mattress
  • Patients with a history of heel breakdown, thanks to the heel slope
  • Bariatric patients up to 550 lbs, in 42″ and 48″ widths
  • Patients who need an edge reminder, with the 2″ raised perimeter version

Compare it with our other hospital bed mattresses, or try the hospital bed mattress assessment tool.

Who May Need a Different Mattress?

  • Stage III or IV pressure ulcers: an alternating pressure or low air loss mattress is usually recommended. Read our pressure relief mattress guide.
  • Patients over 550 lbs: ask us about bariatric air and foam options.
  • Beds with an unusual frame size: measure first, and call us if your bed is not 76″, 80″ or 84″ long.

3-Tier Progressive Foam Design

The bottom layer is the firmest and each layer gets softer toward the top. The firm high resilient base gives support and long life and prevents the patient from bottoming out, while the softer upper layers let the body settle in so weight spreads over a larger area. The convoluted top adds airflow and flexibility.

Heel Slope with Memory Foam

Heels are one of the most common places for pressure ulcers. The ProEx heel section slopes down to reduce pressure under the heels and uses visco elastic memory foam that gently softens around the bony heel. Medacure also makes the mattress without the heel slope; ask us if you need that version.

Hospital Grade Waterproof Cover

The cover is 70 denier nylon with a PVC backing. It is waterproof, flame retardant and anti-shear, so the patient slides less and skin sees less friction. A protected zipper helps keep fluids out for better infection control, and the anti-slip base with elastic straps keeps the mattress in place on the bed deck.

Sizes

Each size has its own Medacure item number:

Size (W x L x H) Medacure Item # Notes
36″ x 76″ x 6″ PX7636 Standard
36″ x 80″ x 6″ PX8036 Standard
36″ x 80″ x 6″ Raised Perimeter PX8036-S 2" raised side perimeter
36″ x 84″ x 6″ PX8436 Extra long
42″ x 80″ x 6″ PXB8042 Bariatric, 550 lb
48″ x 80″ x 6″ PXB8048 Bariatric, 550 lb
42″ x 84″ x 6″ PXB8442 Bariatric extra long, 550 lb
48″ x 84″ x 6″ PXB8448 Bariatric extra long, 550 lb

Measure the inside length and width of the bed deck. A mattress that is too short leaves a gap at the head or foot, which is an entrapment risk; use a mattress extender to close a gap if your bed has been lengthened.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a memory foam hospital bed mattress?

It is a hospital bed mattress built from layered foam with memory (visco elastic) foam in key areas. The foam spreads body weight over a larger area to lower pressure on bony points like the heels, hips and sacrum. The ProEx uses three foam layers, a convoluted top and memory foam in the heel section.

Will the ProEx fit my hospital bed?

Most home and long term care hospital beds take a 36″ x 80″ mattress, which is ProEx item PX8036. Medacure also makes 76″ and 84″ lengths and 42″ and 48″ bariatric widths. Measure the inside of the bed frame and match the size; call us at 585-505-6665 if you are not sure.

Is the ProEx good for preventing bed sores?

Medacure designs the ProEx for pressure ulcer prevention and rates it effective through Stage II wound therapy. Turning schedules, skin checks and good nutrition still matter. For Stage III or IV wounds, ask your care team about an alternating pressure or low air loss mattress.

What is the heel slope?

The foot section slopes down under the heels and uses memory foam there, which takes pressure off the heels, one of the most common places for bed sores.

What weight does it hold?

Medacure rates the bariatric sizes (42″ and 48″ wide) for 550 lbs. For standard sizes, ask us for the rating for your patient.

What is the raised perimeter option?

PX8036-S has a 2″ raised side perimeter along the edges. The raised edge helps define the edge of the bed and can help keep a patient from rolling off.

Is the cover waterproof?

Yes. The hospital grade cover is 70 denier nylon with a PVC backing, waterproof, flame retardant and anti-shear, with a protected zipper, an anti-slip base and elastic straps.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
