Description

VOCIC XZY08 Reclining Shower Chair – Shower Commode Chair with Wheels, 30° Tilt, 300 lb Capacity

The VOCIC XZY08 is a reclining shower chair for people who need to be supported, not just seated, while they bathe. The chair tilts back up to 30° on a hydraulic cylinder, there’s a headrest, a seat belt and flip-up footrests, and VOCIC rates it for 300 lbs.

It’s also a reclining shower chair with wheels: four 360° swivel casters with brakes let a caregiver roll the user from the bedroom into a roll-in shower. The seat has a commode cutout and a pail with a lid, so it works as a tilt shower commode chair too. VOCIC calls it a 3-in-1: shower chair, commode chair and transport chair in one.

The frame is 6063 aluminum alloy with stainless steel legs, the seat height adjusts to 6 positions, and the armrests flip up for side transfers. It’s an authorized VOCIC product, shipped nationwide and delivered to your door.

Why Choose the VOCIC XZY08 Reclining Shower Chair?

An upright shower chair works for someone who can sit up straight on their own. For a user with poor trunk control, low endurance or a tendency to slide forward, sitting upright through a whole shower is tiring and risky. Reclining the chair back takes their weight onto the backrest and headrest, so they stay settled in the seat while the caregiver washes them.

The XZY08 also cuts down on transfers. The user sits once, at the bedside, and can be rolled to the toilet and into the shower in the same chair. Every transfer you skip is one less chance to fall.

Who Is the VOCIC XZY08 Best For?

  • People who can’t sit upright safely for a whole shower
  • Home caregivers who bathe and toilet a family member
  • Users who need to be rolled into a roll-in or low-threshold shower
  • Users who transfer from the side, thanks to the flip-up armrests
  • Users up to 300 lbs who fit within 19.2″ between the armrests
  • Homes that want one chair for the shower, the toilet and getting around the house

For a side-by-side look at the styles, read our Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Shower Commode Chair for Elderly.

Who May Need a Different Shower Chair?

If the user weighs more than 300 lbs, or needs more than 19.2″ between the armrests, the XZY08 isn’t the right fit. If they sit up well on their own and only need a seat in the tub or shower, a simpler stationary chair from our Shower Chairs for Elderly will do. If your shower has a raised curb or a tub wall, a rolling chair can’t get in easily, so call us first. And if the main problem is standing up from the toilet rather than bathing, look at the VOCIC AX12 Toilet Seat Lift (Standard, Wired Control).

300 lb Weight Capacity

VOCIC rates the XZY08 for 300 lbs (136 kg). The chair itself weighs 29.8 lbs, light enough for a caregiver to handle and roll.

Tilts Back Up to 30° on a Hydraulic Cylinder

The chair tilts back up to 30°, controlled by a hydraulic cylinder so it moves smoothly instead of dropping. VOCIC’s photos show the seat and back tipping back together, so the user’s weight rests back into the seat and backrest. The headrest supports the user’s head when they’re tipped back, and the breathable mesh back drains and dries quickly after a shower.

6 Seat Heights From 19.7″ to 24.6″

The seat height adjusts in 6 positions, 1″ apart, from 19.7″ to 24.6″. Overall height runs from 42.5″ to 47.4″, and the armrests sit 27.6″ to 32.5″ off the floor. Set it lower for a shorter user who wants feet on the floor, or higher to clear a toilet or save the caregiver’s back.

Four Locking 360° Swivel Casters, Anti-Tippers and a Seat Belt

VOCIC fits four 360° swivel casters that it describes as silent, with brakes to hold the chair still during washing and transfers. VOCIC’s images also show anti-tippers at the back and a seat belt to keep the user secure while the chair is moving or reclined.

Flip-Up Armrests and Footrests

The armrests flip up 90° to clear the way for a side transfer from a bed or wheelchair, then come back down for support. The footrests flip up too, so the user can plant their feet to stand or the caregiver can reach their feet and legs. The footrests are PA6 nylon on an anodized aluminum extension tube.

Commode Seat With Pail and Lid

The white HDPE seat has a commode cutout, and VOCIC includes a gray PP commode bucket with a lid that slides in underneath. The cutout also gives access for washing while the user stays seated. VOCIC describes it as an upgraded commode system.

Aluminum Frame With Stainless Steel Legs

The frame is 6063-T5 aluminum alloy with a painted finish, which VOCIC chose for corrosion resistance in a wet room, and the frame tubing is about 1.5″ thick. The leg tubes are SUS304 stainless steel, also painted.

VOCIC XZY08 vs. a Standard Shower Chair

  • Standard shower chair: stays in the tub or shower, the user has to get to it and sit upright on their own, no commode, no wheels
  • XZY08 reclining shower chair: rolls from the bedside to the toilet and into the shower, tilts back up to 30° with a headrest and seat belt, doubles as a commode chair, flip-up armrests for side transfers

A standard chair is plenty for someone who walks to the shower and sits well. The XZY08 is for someone who needs to be moved and supported. Our Types of Bathroom and Shower Chairs for the Elderly article walks through the options.

Common Problem → VOCIC XZY08 Solution

Problem: Mom can’t sit upright for long anymore. In her regular shower chair she slumps and slides forward, and it takes two people to get her from the bed to the bathroom and back.

Solution: She transfers once, at the bedside, into the XZY08 with the armrest flipped up. The belt goes on, the caregiver rolls her to the toilet and then into the roll-in shower, sets the brakes and tilts the chair back so she’s resting against the backrest and headrest while she’s washed.

“Will it fit through our bathroom door?” VOCIC lists the chair at 22.5″ wide from the front. Measure the narrowest door it has to pass and call us if it’s close.

Sizing & Fit

  • Doorways: the chair is 22.5″ wide at the front and 22.8″ from the side, per VOCIC. Your narrowest door needs to be wider than 22.5″.
  • Turning and reclining: the chair gets longer when it’s tilted back and the footrests are down. VOCIC doesn’t list a reclined length, so ask us if the bathroom is tight.
  • User width: there’s 19.2″ between the armrests. Measure the user’s hips while they’re seated.
  • Seat height: 19.7″ to 24.6″ in 6 steps of 1″.
  • Over the toilet: VOCIC doesn’t list the clearance under the seat frame. Send us the toilet height, including the seat, and we’ll check.
  • Shower entry: a rolling chair needs a roll-in or very low threshold. Measure any curb.

Call 585-505-6665 with your measurements before you order.

Care & Cleaning

VOCIC doesn’t publish cleaning steps for the XZY08, so here’s general advice: rinse the chair with clean water after each shower to wash off soap, wipe it dry, and let the mesh back air dry. Empty and wash the commode pail after every use. Keep the casters clear of hair, and check the brakes and the recline every so often. Ask us for the user manual for VOCIC’s own instructions.

What’s Included

VOCIC’s dealer page doesn’t list the box contents. VOCIC’s images show the chair with its commode pail and lid, the headrest, a seat belt, a padded seat and flip-up footrests, and one photo also shows a handheld shower head and holder. Ask us to confirm exactly what comes in the box and how much assembly it needs.

VOCIC XZY08 Warranty

VOCIC backs the XZY08 with a 1-year warranty. Ask us for the current terms.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
