Description
Stander Chair Cane 8810: Stand Assist Handle That Slides Under Your Chair
The Stander Chair Cane (item 8810) is a chair cane: a tall, padded stand assist handle that sits beside your seat. Its base slides under a four-legged chair, sofa, recliner or lift chair, and the furniture’s front and rear legs rest on its base pads, so the handle stays put while you push on it.
The handle adjusts from 32.5 to 42 inches tall and the base adjusts from 17 to 33 inches to match the distance between your furniture’s front and back legs. Stander builds it from steel and rates it for 250 pounds.
There’s nothing to drill and no straps. The non-slip base protects floors, and the pads reverse so you can set it up on either side of the chair.
Why Choose the Stander Chair Cane?
Low armrests, slippery side tables and a family member’s arm are what most people use to get out of a chair. The Chair Cane gives you a firm, padded handle at the right height instead, and because the chair’s own weight holds it down, it doesn’t slide away when you lean on it. As an authorized Stander dealer we ship it nationwide. Not sure about your chair? Call us at 585-505-6665.
Who Is the Chair Cane Best For?
The Chair Cane is a good fit for:
- Older adults who find it hard to stand up from a chair, sofa, recliner or lift chair
- People with weak legs, stiff knees or sore hips who need one solid handle beside the seat
- Four-legged furniture with front and back legs 17 to 33 inches apart
- Users up to Stander’s 250 lb rating
For more ways to make the home safer, see our home medical equipment knowledge base.
Who May Need a Different Stand Assist?
The Chair Cane needs four-legged furniture. Stander says it won’t work with a chair that has a round base, no legs, or legs closer than 17 inches or farther than 33 inches apart front to back. It’s never for use on a bed and it isn’t freestanding. If you want a tray too, the Stander Assist-A-Tray has a similar handle plus a swivel tray. For a handle on each side of the seat, see the Stander EZ Stand-N-Go Plus.
Padded Handle Adjusts 32.5 to 42 Inches
The padded handle gives a comfortable grip for leverage. Press the spring button to raise or lower the upright, then tighten the set screw.
Base Adjusts From 17 to 33 Inches
Space the two feet so the centers of the pads line up with your furniture’s legs. Measure the distance between the front and back legs on one side; it has to fall between 17 and 33 inches.
Sits Under Your Furniture
Place the chair’s front and rear legs on the rubber base pads. The furniture’s weight holds the Chair Cane in place.
Reversible for Either Side
The base pads are reversible, so you can set it up on the left or right side of the chair.
Works With Lift Chairs and Recliners
Stander lists lift chairs and recliners as compatible, as long as they have four legs in range. Make sure the handle and upright don’t interfere with the chair’s movement.
Chair Cane vs. Assist-A-Tray
Stander says the Assist-A-Tray has a similar support handle but adds a swiveling tray:
- Chair Cane (8810): handle only; handle 32.5″ to 42″; base fits legs 17″ to 33″ apart; 250 lb.
- Assist-A-Tray: handle plus a swivel tray for meals and remotes.
Stander says there’s no tray accessory for the Chair Cane, so if you think you’ll want a tray, start with the Assist-A-Tray.
Common Problem → Chair Cane Solution
Problem: Since her hip got worse, Ellen needs a few tries to get out of her armchair, and she pushes on a side table that tips.
Solution: The Chair Cane slides under the armchair’s legs on her usual side. She scoots forward, pushes down on the padded handle and stands, and the handle can’t move because the chair is sitting on it.
“Will it work with her lift chair later?” Yes, if the lift chair has four legs 17 to 33 inches apart and the handle doesn’t block the chair’s motion.
Safety Notes
From Stander’s instructions:
- For adult use only. Stander says it’s never to be used by people with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or restlessness, or by anyone who is sedated, confused or frail.
- The feet must stay firmly under heavy furniture at all times. Don’t use it with lightweight furniture that could shift.
- Never use it on a bed, and don’t attach anything else to it.
- Stop using it if it shifts out of position or if anything is damaged or missing.
- With a lift chair or recliner, make sure the handle and upright don’t interfere with the chair’s movement.
Care & Cleaning
Stander says to clean it with warm water and soap and dry it thoroughly before use. Check now and then that it is still positioned correctly and the hardware is tight.
What’s Included
The upright, the padded handle, the front and rear feet with base pads, the foot connector, a plastic cover, the rear cap, and the bolts and tools for assembly. Assembly is required; Stander’s manual shows left- or right-side setup.
Warranty
Stander’s instructions list a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship (register the product with Stander). Call us at 585-505-6665 with any warranty question.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
