Description
Lumex Select LS200 Alternating Pressure / Low Air Loss Mattress System – 36″ x 80″ x 8″ Air Mattress and Pump
The Lumex LS200 is a complete powered mattress system: an 8″ air mattress that replaces the mattress on a 36″ x 80″ hospital bed, plus a quiet pump that hangs on the footboard. It runs in two modes. In alternating mode the cells take turns deflating on a 2:1 pattern over a 12-minute cycle, so only part of the body is ever off-loaded at one time. In static mode the cells stay inflated and air flows out of tiny vents for low air loss only.
Graham-Field builds the Lumex Select alternating pressure mattress for people who spend long hours in bed at home or in a care setting. GF’s manual says the system is designed to aid in the treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers; how it’s used for a particular patient is a decision for their doctor, nurse or wound care team. The APM mattress with low air loss takes users from 88 lb up to 350 lb, evenly distributed.
Every cell is split in two (GF calls it “cell on cell”), so if the power goes out and the top cells empty, the bottom layer stays up under the patient. There’s also a low-pressure alarm, a comfort dial for firmness, a quick-release CPR valve and a quilted cover.
Why Choose the Lumex Select LS200?
It’s a straightforward, complete system: mattress, pump and cover in one box, with nothing extra to buy before you can use it. The pump sets the 12-minute alternating cycle for you, and the caregiver only has to choose the mode and set the comfort dial. The split cells, alarm and CPR valve cover the things families worry about most: a power outage, a leak and a fast deflation in an emergency.
Graham-Field backs the pump for two years and the mattress for one year.
Who Is the Lumex LS200 Best For?
The LS200 is a good fit for:
- People who spend most of the day and night in bed and need more than a foam mattress, when their care team has recommended an alternating pressure or low air loss surface
- Home hospital bed setups with a standard 36″ x 80″ deck
- Caregivers who want simple controls: one mode button, one comfort dial and an alarm reset
- Users between 88 lb and 350 lb (GF’s minimum and maximum), age 15 and up
- Home care and long-term care settings; GF lists it for both home and professional use

Who May Need a Different Mattress?
- Users over 350 lb: the LS200 tops out at 350 lb, evenly distributed. Call us for a bariatric surface.
- Users under 88 lb or younger than 15: GF sets an 88 lb minimum and says the system is for people at least 15 years old.
- Beds that aren’t 36″ x 80″: the mattress is 36″ x 80″. A wider or longer bed leaves gaps at the sides or ends, and GF warns that gaps between mattress, frame and rails must be avoided.
- Rooms without a nearby wall outlet: GF says to plug the pump straight into a grounded wall outlet, not an extension cord or power strip.
- Anyone who only needs a topper on an existing mattress: a pad or overlay may be enough. Compare the Invacare microAIR MA800 Low Air Loss Mattress System or browse all Medical Bed Mattresses.
2:1 Alternating Cycle Every 12 Minutes
In alternating mode the pump runs a fixed 12-minute cycle: 4 minutes with the “A” cells deflated, 2 minutes static, 4 minutes with the “B” cells deflated, then 2 minutes static. Because the cells alternate 2:1, half of the body is always supported. The first three cells at the head end always stay static, so the head and shoulders don’t shift. The cycle time is set at the factory and can’t be changed.
Static Mode for Low Air Loss Only
Press and hold the MODE button for one second to switch to static mode. The alternating stops, the cells stay inflated and air keeps flowing through the vented cells for low air loss. GF’s manual has the caregiver do a hand check in this mode: slide a hand under the buttocks, between the cells and the bottom of the mattress. There should be at least 1 1/2″ of clearance.
Cell-on-Cell Design for Power Outages
Each air cell is split into an upper and a lower chamber. If the power fails and the upper cells empty, the lower cells stay inflated, so the patient isn’t left lying on the bed deck. During an outage the pump stops and its light or alarm may come on. That’s normal, and it starts again when the power comes back.
Comfort Dial, Alarm and CPR Valve
- Comfort dial: turns the mattress firmer or softer to suit the patient’s weight and comfort.
- Low-pressure alarm: sounds if pressure drops. ALARM RESET mutes it for 20 minutes, and the alarm stays off for the first 45 minutes after power-on while the mattress fills.
- Quick-release CPR valve: at the head end, on the patient’s left, for fast deflation.
- Footboard hanger: the pump hangs on the bed’s footboard or sits on a flat surface.
Mattress System vs. a Pressure Pad or Overlay
A pad or overlay sits on top of the mattress you already have. The LS200 replaces the mattress: you take the old one off the bed frame and the 8″ air mattress goes in its place, strapped to the frame. That puts the patient directly on the air cells and keeps the bed height closer to what the rails were designed for. If you need a system that does the whole job, this is it. If you only want extra comfort on a good existing mattress, an overlay costs less and is simpler. Our Best Hospital Bed Mattress Buying Guide compares the options.
Common Problem → Lumex LS200 Solution
Problem: Dad is home from the hospital and spends nearly all day in bed. The visiting nurse wants him on an alternating pressure surface, and the family is nervous about what happens if the power goes out overnight.
Solution: The LS200 replaces his mattress and runs the 2:1 cycle on its own. If the power drops, the lower half of each split cell stays inflated under him, and the low-pressure alarm tells the family if something’s wrong.
“Can we switch it off alternating when he’s eating or getting washed?” Yes. One press of the MODE button switches to static mode, and one more press brings back alternating.
Setup
- Level the bed and lock the brakes. Take off the old mattress.
- Lay the LS200 on the frame with the air tube at the foot end, make sure there are no gaps against the frame or rails, and fasten the straps underneath to the bed frame.
- Hang the pump on the footboard (or set it on a flat surface) and connect the air hoses. Keep them free of kinks and clear of moving bed parts.
- Attach the cover, check that the pump switch is off, then plug the pump into a grounded wall outlet that isn’t controlled by a wall switch.
- Turn it on, let the mattress fill completely, then center the patient. The mattress may look wrinkled out of the box; GF says it can take up to 24 hours to smooth out and you can use it right away.
Care & Cleaning
Always turn the pump off and unplug it first. Wipe the cover and cells with a diluted detergent or a disinfectant cleaner; don’t use phenol-based cleaners. GF’s manual also allows washing the cover by hand in hot water with a neutral detergent, or laundering it at 160°F, as long as it’s fully dried afterward. Wipe the pump weekly with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent, and never let liquid get inside it.
What’s Included
The LS200 comes as a complete system: the air mattress, the pump and the quilted cover, with a user manual. Replacement pumps, mattresses and covers are sold separately by Graham-Field; call us if you need one.
Warranty
Graham-Field warrants the pump for two (2) years and the mattress for one (1) year from shipment, against defects in material and workmanship. Ask us for the full terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Lumex Select LS200?
It’s a powered mattress replacement system from Lumex, made up of an 8″ air mattress, a pump and a quilted cover. It runs in a 2:1 alternating pressure mode or a static low air loss mode, and it replaces the mattress on a 36″ x 80″ bed.
What does “alternating pressure” mean on this mattress?
The air cells take turns deflating and refilling. On the LS200 the “A” and “B” cells alternate over a fixed 12-minute cycle, so half of the body is always supported while the other areas get a break from pressure.
What is low air loss?
Low air loss means air flows out of small vents in the cells. In static mode the LS200 stops alternating and gives low air loss only, through the cell micro vents.
How much weight does the LS200 hold?
Graham-Field lists a minimum of 88 lb and a maximum of 350 lb, evenly distributed. For someone over 350 lb, call us at 585-505-6665 about a bariatric surface.
What size bed does it fit?
The mattress is 36″ wide, 80″ long and 8″ high, which matches a standard 36″ x 80″ hospital bed deck. GF says the frame and side rails must be sized to the mattress so there are no gaps.
Does it go on top of my mattress?
No. It replaces the mattress. Take the existing mattress off the bed frame, put the LS200 in its place and fasten its straps to the frame.
What happens if the power goes out?
The pump stops, and its light or alarm may come on, which GF says is normal. Each cell is split in two, and the lower cells stay inflated if the upper cells empty, so the patient isn’t lying on the frame. The pump restarts when power returns.
Can I change the alternating cycle time?
No. The 12-minute cycle is set at the factory. You choose the mode (alternating or static) and set firmness with the comfort dial.
Is the pump loud or hard to use?
The front panel has a power switch, a MODE button, a comfort dial and an ALARM RESET button. GF doesn’t publish a noise rating; call us if that matters for your room.
Can I plug it into an extension cord?
No. GF says to plug the pump straight into a grounded wall outlet that isn’t controlled by a wall switch, and not to use extension cords or power strips.
Does this mattress heal bedsores?
No mattress heals a wound by itself. GF’s manual says the LS200 is designed to aid in the treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers. The patient still needs repositioning and skin checks, and their care team should decide what surface is right.
What warranty does the LS200 have?
Graham-Field covers the pump for two years and the mattress for one year from shipment. Ask us for the full warranty terms.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
