Description
Medacure Free Spirit FS450-L – Electric Patient Lift for Safe Transfers at Home
The Medacure Free Spirit FS450-L is an electric patient lift that raises and lowers a patient at the touch of a button, so caregivers move a loved one between bed, wheelchair and commode without manual lifting. It is rated for 450 lbs and built of reinforced steel. New to lifts? Read our patient lift buying guide and the patient lift knowledge base.
As a battery powered patient lift, it runs on a quick release Linak battery with an emergency stop and a CPR function that lowers the patient even if the battery runs flat.
It is an ideal electric patient lift for home use: the base opens from 22″ to 38″ around chairs, and the hook rises to 71″. Add the DS1100 scale or a spare battery below. Questions? Call us at 585-505-6665.
✅ Key Features
- ✔️ Battery Powered Linak Actuator
- ✔️ 450 lb Weight Capacity
- ✔️ Base Opens 22″ to 38″ Around Chairs
- ✔️ Lifts to a 71″ Hook Height
- ✔️ Emergency Stop and CPR Lowering
- ✔️ 15 Year Frame Warranty
Why an Electric Lift?
Manual lifting is the leading cause of back injuries for caregivers, and it is risky for the patient too. An electric lift does the heavy part: one button raises the patient smoothly in a sling, another lowers them. Compared with a hydraulic pump lift, there is no pumping and no jerky motion, and the caregiver keeps both hands free to guide the patient. For daily transfers at home or in a facility, electric is the safer, easier choice.
Who Is It Best For?
- Patients who cannot bear weight or stand to transfer
- Families caring for a loved one at home
- Care facilities with daily bed to chair transfers
- Patients up to 450 lbs
- Caregivers who need to work alone safely, per the care plan
Who May Need Something Else?
- Patients over 450 lbs: the Medacure FS660-L bariatric or FS850 Pro.
- Patients who can bear some weight: a sit-to-stand lift helps them stand and keeps them active. See our sit-to-stand lift buying guide.
- Tight budgets: the FS450-H hydraulic lift lifts the same 450 lbs with a pump handle.
Wide Base That Wraps Around Equipment
The manual base expands from 22″ to 38″ between the legs, so it opens around wheelchairs, recliners and commodes. The 45″ leg length adds stability during the lift. Rear 4″ locking casters and front 3″ swivel casters move smoothly on home floors.
Safety Built In
An emergency stop locks the lift in place. Total pinch point protection guards hands and fingers. A padded swivel bar protects the resident’s head, and 3 oversized locking hooks on each side of the hanging bar hold the sling loops securely.
Linak Battery and Controls
The Linak actuator, control box and hand pendant are a proven system. The quick release battery swaps in seconds, charges on board or in the optional external stand, and LEDs show its charge. The charger plug stores in a case on the lift, so it never goes missing.
Add a Scale
The optional DS1100 digital scale attaches to the lift and weighs patients up to 1,000 lbs during a transfer, with a large blue backlit display, hold and tare.
Using the Lift Safely
- Choose the right sling and size; see our patient lift sling buying guide.
- Position the sling under the patient and open the base around the chair or bed.
- Lock the rear casters when lifting from a chair, as your training directs.
- Attach the loops to the hooks, shortest loops at the shoulders as instructed.
- Raise slowly, check the patient, move, then lower and remove the sling.
What’s Included
FS450-L electric patient lift with Linak actuator, control box, hand pendant and battery. Slings, the external charger and the scale are sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an electric patient lift?
It is a mobile floor lift with a battery powered motor that raises and lowers a patient in a sling, so caregivers can move someone between bed, wheelchair, commode or chair without manual lifting. The FS450-L uses a Linak actuator and hand pendant control.
How much weight can the FS450-L lift?
Medacure rates it for 450 lbs. For heavier patients, see the FS660-L (660 lbs) or the FS850 Pro (850 lbs).
How high and low does it go?
The hook rises to 71″. Medacure’s brochure lists the minimum hook height at 21″ (its web spec table says 29″), low enough to lift from a bed or chair and, with the right sling, from the floor.
Will it fit under my bed and around a wheelchair?
The base is 4.3″ high including casters and Medacure lists at least 4.5″ of bed clearance needed. The legs open from 22″ to 38″ between them, wide enough to wrap around wheelchairs and recliners.
What happens if the battery runs out mid-lift?
The CPR function lowers and raises the lift when the battery is discharged, so the patient can be brought down safely. An emergency stop button locks the lift in place.
How is it charged?
The quick release Linak battery charges on board through the charger plug stored on the lift, or off the lift in the optional external charger with stand. LEDs show the charge level.
Which slings work with it?
Loop slings. Three oversized locking hooks on each side of the hanging bar secure the sling. Medacure’s full body, divided leg, U-sling, mesh and commode slings fit it.
What is the warranty?
Medacure lists 15 years on the frame, 3 years on the electronics and 1 year on the battery and hand pendant.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
