Description

Medacure Wings K7 – 22″ or 24″ Bariatric Wheelchair, 500 lb

The Medacure Wings K7 is a 24 inch wheelchair built for bariatric users: a dual crossbar steel folding wheelchair rated for 500 lbs. Read our wheelchair buying guide and the wheelchair knowledge base before you choose.

It also comes as a 22 inch wheelchair, both with an 18″ deep seat and swing-away footrests or elevating leg rests.

As a 500 lb bariatric wheelchair, it has a dual axle for a lower hemi seat and detachable padded desk arms. Questions? Call us at 585-505-6665.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ 22″ or 24″ Wide Seat
  • ✔️ 500 lb Weight Capacity
  • ✔️ Dual Crossbar Steel Frame
  • ✔️ Swing-Away or Elevating Leg Rests
  • ✔️ Dual Axle, Hemi Capable
  • ✔️ Detachable Padded Desk Arms

Why a Bariatric Wheelchair?

A standard wheelchair is built for about 250 to 300 lbs and an 18″ seat. Larger users need a wider seat to sit without pressure on the hips and a frame built for the load. The Wings K7 uses a dual crossbar steel frame rated for 500 lbs, with a 22″ or 24″ wide, 18″ deep seat, so the user sits comfortably and safely.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Users up to 500 lbs who need a 22″ or 24″ seat
  • Hospitals, nursing homes and bariatric programs
  • Users who transfer often (swing-away footrests) or need leg elevation (elevating leg rests)
  • Users who need a lower hemi seat height

Who May Need Something Else?

  • Users over 500 lbs or wider than 24″: the Medacure extra wide bariatric wheelchair (26″ to 30″, 700 lbs).
  • Users under 350 lbs: the Medacure Wings K2 (16″ to 20″).
  • Users who need to recline: the Medacure Wings full reclining wheelchair. See our wheelchair buying guide.

22″ or 24″?

22″ (W2218-K7) 24″ (W2418-K7)
Seat 22″ W x 18″ D 24″ W x 18″ D
Overall Width 30″ 34″
Chair Weight 55 lbs 58 lbs
Weight Capacity 500 lbs 500 lbs

Built for Heavy Daily Use

A powder coated steel frame with a dual crossbar and steel side panels carries the load. 24″ composite mag wheels never need air, 8″ solid rubber casters on adjustable aluminum forks roll steadily, and push to lock brakes hold the chair for transfers. An easy-lift rear bar helps caregivers over curbs.

Comfort and Transfers

Deluxe padded vinyl upholstery with a heavy duty inner is flame retardant and mildew resistant. Padded desk length arms detach for side transfers, and swing-away footrests clear the way for standing.

Sizing a Bariatric Wheelchair

A good fit matters more in a bariatric chair than in any other. Too narrow a seat presses on the hips and thighs and can cause pressure injuries; too wide a seat makes the wheels hard to reach and the chair hard to fit through doors. Measure the widest point across the hips and thighs while seated and add about 2″. Check seat depth too: with the user sitting back, there should be 2 to 3 fingers of space between the seat edge and the back of the knee.

Cushions and Add-Ons

Medacure sells matching seat cushions in 22″ and 24″ widths: the Medacure gel wheelchair cushion for pressure relief or the Medacure foam wheelchair cushion for everyday comfort. Order the cushion in the same width as the seat. A seatback bag keeps personal items within reach. Not sure which cushion? Read our wheelchair cushion guide.

Wheelchair Safety Checklist

  1. Lock both wheel locks before sitting down, standing up or transferring.
  2. Flip up or swing away the footplates before standing.
  3. Check tire, caster and wheel lock condition weekly.
  4. Tip the chair back only with the tipping lever and a trained helper.
  5. Do not exceed the weight capacity for your seat width.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight does it hold?

Medacure rates both the 22″ and 24″ Wings K7 for 500 lbs, thanks to its dual crossbar steel frame.

Will it fit through my doors?

Measure your narrowest doorway. The 22″ chair is 30″ wide overall and the 24″ is 34″ wide. Folded, both are 13.4″ wide.

Which seat width do I need?

Measure across the hips while seated and add about 2″. If the user is wider than 24″ or over 500 lbs, choose the Medacure extra wide bariatric wheelchair (26″ to 30″, 700 lbs).

Which leg rests should I choose?

Swing-away footrests for users who transfer often or propel with their feet; elevating leg rests to raise the legs for swelling or comfort.

Can the seat be lowered?

Yes. The dual axle allows the rear wheels to be repositioned for a lower hemi seat-to-floor height.

Does it fold?

Yes, to 13.4″ wide for storage and transport.

What is the warranty?

Medacure covers the Wings K7 with a 3 year limited warranty.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
