Description
Merits EZ-GO P321 Portable Electric Wheelchair – 300 lb Travel Power Chair
The Merits EZ-GO P321 portable electric wheelchair is designed for adults who need powered mobility but do not want a large, difficult-to-transport power chair controlling where they can go. Its quick-connect design separates the chair for transportation, with a 54 lb heaviest piece, while still providing a 300 lb weight capacity, up to 12 miles of manufacturer-listed range, and a compact 23-inch turning radius.
For someone comparing an electric portable wheelchair for home, appointments, shopping, community outings, or transportation by vehicle, the EZ-GO combines practical portability with everyday powered mobility. The chair measures approximately 27 inches long × 23 inches wide, uses rear-wheel drive, reaches speeds up to 4.5 mph, and includes an ergonomic 18-inch-wide stadium seat with a mid-back design for additional back support.
Unlike folding power chairs that collapse as one complete unit, the EZ-GO approaches portability through quick-connect disassembly. The chair separates for storage and transportation, allowing the user or caregiver to handle smaller components instead of lifting the complete 113 lb chair at once. For shoppers researching a Merits electric wheelchair that balances maneuverability, rider capacity, range, and vehicle transport, this distinction is one of the most important reasons to consider the EZ-GO.
Why Choose the Merits EZ-GO Portable Electric Wheelchair?
Many traditional power wheelchairs provide excellent everyday mobility but can become difficult to manage when the chair needs to leave the home. The EZ-GO is designed around a different question: how can a power chair remain useful for daily mobility while also being practical to transport?
Merits addresses that challenge with a compact design and a quick-connect system for assembly and transportation. Instead of requiring someone to lift the complete 113 lb chair, the EZ-GO can be separated, with the manufacturer listing the heaviest individual piece at approximately 54 lbs.
Once assembled, it functions as a complete powered wheelchair with rear-wheel drive, a 300 lb weight capacity, 4.5 mph maximum speed, up to 12 miles of range, electromagnetic braking, solid front wheels, foam-filled drive wheels, and a tight 23-inch turning radius.
That combination makes the EZ-GO especially relevant for users who need a power chair for everyday mobility but expect to transport it regularly between home and other destinations.
What Makes the EZ-GO a Portable Electric Wheelchair?
A portable electric wheelchair needs to be evaluated differently from a conventional full-size power chair. Overall weight matters, but so do the chair’s breakdown method, heaviest individual component, dimensions, battery configuration, and how easily it can be reassembled at the destination.
The Merits EZ-GO weighs approximately 113 lbs total. That number alone does not explain its portable design. Its quick-connect construction allows the chair to separate for transportation, reducing the heaviest individual piece to approximately 54 lbs.
This is particularly important for buyers who plan to carry the chair in a vehicle. Instead of asking only, “How much does the wheelchair weigh?” a more useful question is: “What is the heaviest part I will actually need to lift?”
For the EZ-GO, Merits provides both figures so buyers can determine whether its transport system is appropriate for the person who will actually be loading and unloading the chair.
Quick-Connect Disassembly for Easier Transportation
The EZ-GO uses a quick-connect design intended to simplify assembly, breakdown, and transportation. Rather than requiring the complete chair to remain intact whenever it is moved by vehicle, the chair can be separated into more manageable components.
This can be valuable for a user who regularly travels between home, medical appointments, shopping destinations, family activities, restaurants, or other locations where powered mobility is needed after arriving.
It is important, however, to distinguish portable from effortless. The heaviest EZ-GO component still weighs approximately 54 lbs. Before purchasing, the person responsible for vehicle loading should determine whether that weight can be safely handled or whether a ramp, lift, or additional assistance would be appropriate.
For buyers specifically searching for an electric portable wheelchair, this real-world transport information is more useful than simply describing the chair as lightweight.
Portable Power Chair vs. Folding Electric Wheelchair
The EZ-GO is portable, but its portability should not be confused with the design of a one-piece folding electric wheelchair.
A folding power chair typically collapses its frame for storage while remaining largely intact. The EZ-GO instead uses quick-connect disassembly so its components can be separated before transportation and reconnected at the destination.
Each approach has advantages. A folding chair may reduce assembly steps, while a disassembling power chair can reduce the weight of the individual component that must be handled compared with lifting the entire chair.
The better choice depends on the user’s routine, vehicle, available cargo space, physical lifting ability, and whether the chair will frequently be transported by a caregiver or family member.
54 lb Heaviest Piece for Vehicle Transportation
The complete Merits EZ-GO weighs approximately 113 lbs, while its heaviest disassembled component weighs approximately 54 lbs.
That distinction is one of the most important specifications for anyone comparing portable power wheelchairs. A total product weight may tell you how substantial the complete chair is, but the heaviest-piece specification provides a much better indication of what vehicle loading may actually involve.
Before purchasing the EZ-GO specifically for car transportation, buyers should consider both the 54 lb heaviest-piece weight and the available cargo dimensions of their vehicle.
Users who cannot safely manage a 54 lb component should not assume that portability alone makes manual lifting appropriate. Assistance or compatible loading equipment may still be needed.
Compact 27-Inch Length and 23-Inch Width
The EZ-GO measures approximately 27 inches long × 23 inches wide, giving it a compact overall footprint for a powered wheelchair with a 300 lb capacity.
Overall width is particularly important for buyers who expect to use a power chair inside the home. The 23-inch chair width should be compared with the narrowest doorways, hallways, elevator entrances, and other passages the user expects to encounter.
The chair’s overall height is approximately 43 inches, while the seat-to-floor height can be configured from approximately 18 to 20 inches.
For vehicle transportation, buyers should also measure the cargo opening and available storage area rather than assuming that any portable electric wheelchair will fit every trunk or cargo space.
23-Inch Turning Radius for Tight-Space Maneuverability
The EZ-GO has a manufacturer-listed turning radius of approximately 23 inches, one of its most useful specifications for maneuvering where space is limited.
A compact turning radius can help when navigating many accessible indoor environments such as residential rooms, stores, medical offices, restaurants, elevators, and other areas where larger mobility equipment may require more room to turn or reposition.
Turning radius should still be considered alongside the chair’s 23-inch overall width. Doorway clearance, approach angle, furniture placement, and available turning space can all affect real-world maneuverability.
For someone comparing power chairs primarily for indoor and community use, these measurements deserve as much attention as maximum speed or driving range.
300 lb Weight Capacity in a Compact Power Chair
Despite its transport-oriented design, the Merits EZ-GO supports a manufacturer-listed maximum rider weight of 300 lbs.
That gives the chair a useful combination of portability and rider capacity without moving into the much larger dimensions commonly associated with heavy-duty power wheelchairs.
Weight capacity should never be considered by itself when evaluating rider fit. Seat dimensions, positioning, overall width, leg positioning, transfer requirements, and the user’s individual mobility needs are also important.
The EZ-GO includes an approximately 18-inch-wide × 16-inch-deep stadium seat, providing buyers with concrete dimensions to compare against the intended user’s seating needs.
Ergonomic Mid-Back Stadium Seat
Merits equips the EZ-GO with an ergonomic mid-back stadium seat designed to provide additional back support during everyday use.
The seat measures approximately 18 inches wide × 16 inches deep with a 17-inch backrest height. Seat-to-floor height is adjustable between approximately 18 and 20 inches.
These measurements matter when deciding whether a power chair is appropriately sized for a particular rider. A portable chair should not be selected solely because it is easy to transport; the seating dimensions and rider position need to work for the person who will actually use it.
For users expecting to spend significant periods in the chair, comparing these dimensions with their existing seating setup can help identify whether the EZ-GO is the right type of portable power chair.
Rear-Wheel Drive for Everyday Powered Mobility
The EZ-GO uses a rear-wheel-drive configuration powered by a DC 24V / 90W motor and controlled through a P&G NVR2 controller.
Its wheel configuration includes 7-inch solid front wheels, 8-inch foam-filled drive wheels, and 3-inch rear anti-tip wheels.
The chair has approximately 1.8 inches of ground clearance and a manufacturer-listed maximum gradient of 6 degrees. These specifications reinforce its role as a compact travel and everyday power chair rather than a rough-terrain mobility device.
For outdoor use, riders should remain within the manufacturer’s operating limitations and use the chair on appropriate surfaces rather than treating its portable design as all-terrain capability.
Up to 12 Miles of Driving Range
The Merits EZ-GO provides a manufacturer-listed driving range of up to approximately 12 miles per charge.
That gives this compact power chair useful range for many daily routines, including moving around the home, appointments, shopping trips, community activities, restaurants, and other outings.
Maximum range is a manufacturer specification rather than a guaranteed distance for every user or trip. Rider weight, terrain, inclines, battery condition, temperature, driving behavior, stop-and-start use, and other operating conditions can affect actual range.
Buyers who routinely expect to travel close to the maximum listed distance should account for a reasonable reserve rather than planning every trip around achieving the full 12 miles.
Up to 4.5 MPH Maximum Speed
The EZ-GO has a manufacturer-listed maximum speed of approximately 4.5 mph.
For buyers researching a portable power chair, maximum speed is only one part of the performance equation. The EZ-GO’s combination of 4.5 mph speed, up to 12 miles of range, 23-inch turning radius, and compact 27-inch overall length provides a more complete picture of how the chair is intended to perform.
It is designed around practical everyday mobility and maneuverability rather than high-speed recreational operation.
Dual 12Ah AGM Battery System
The EZ-GO uses two 12Ah ES12 AGM batteries and includes a 1.5 Amp off-board charger.
The battery system supports the manufacturer’s listed range of up to approximately 12 miles per charge while remaining part of a chair designed for regular transportation and reassembly.
Anyone planning air, cruise, rail, or other commercial travel should contact the specific carrier before departure and provide the exact wheelchair and battery specifications. Transportation providers may maintain their own requirements for powered mobility equipment and batteries.
Is the Merits EZ-GO Good for Indoor Use?
The EZ-GO’s 23-inch overall width and 23-inch turning radius make indoor maneuverability one of the chair’s strongest use cases.
For buyers who need an electric wheelchair inside a home, apartment, assisted living environment, medical office, store, or other accessible indoor setting, these dimensions can make the EZ-GO easier to evaluate than relying on general descriptions such as “compact.”
Before purchasing, measure important doorways and passages—especially the narrowest doorway the chair will need to pass through. Allow additional clearance for hands, joystick positioning, turns, thresholds, and approach angles rather than comparing doorway width with chair width alone.
Is the EZ-GO Good for Outdoor Use?
The EZ-GO can be used for appropriate everyday outdoor mobility, but it should not be confused with an all-terrain or heavy-duty outdoor power wheelchair.
Its specifications include approximately 1.8 inches of ground clearance, 7-inch solid front wheels, 8-inch foam-filled drive wheels, rear-wheel drive, and a maximum listed gradient of 6 degrees.
Those specifications make the chair better aligned with appropriate maintained surfaces and everyday community environments than rough trails, substantial obstacles, deep loose surfaces, or aggressive terrain.
Buyers who expect frequent challenging outdoor use should compare the EZ-GO with a power chair specifically designed around greater clearance, larger wheels, suspension, or other outdoor-focused capabilities.
Who Is the Merits EZ-GO Best For?
The EZ-GO is particularly well suited to an adult who needs powered everyday mobility and expects the chair to be transported regularly.
It can be especially relevant for someone who values a compact 23-inch width, tight turning radius, 300 lb capacity, up to 12-mile range, supportive mid-back seating, and the ability to separate the chair into transportable components.
It may also be a practical choice when a caregiver or family member routinely helps transport the chair and prefers handling a 54 lb heaviest component rather than the complete 113 lb power chair.
A different wheelchair may be more appropriate for someone who needs an individual transport piece substantially below 54 lbs, a wider seat, a capacity above 300 lbs, extensive rough-terrain performance, specialized positioning, or other advanced seating and mobility requirements.
What Should You Look for in a Portable Electric Wheelchair?
When comparing a portable electric wheelchair, do not choose based on total weight or advertising language alone. The most useful comparison includes heaviest-piece weight, breakdown method, overall dimensions, turning radius, rider capacity, seat size, driving range, battery type, ground clearance, wheel construction, speed, and the environment where the chair will actually be used.
For the Merits EZ-GO, the key numbers are straightforward: 113 lbs total weight, 54 lb heaviest piece, 300 lb capacity, 27″L × 23″W overall footprint, 23-inch turning radius, 18″W × 16″D seat, up to 4.5 mph speed, and up to approximately 12 miles of manufacturer-listed range.
Those specifications answer many of the questions a serious buyer should ask before ordering: Can I transport it? What will I actually have to lift? Will it fit through my home? Can it turn where I need it to? Is the seat appropriately sized? How far can it travel? And is it designed for the surfaces where I intend to use it?

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
