Description
Invacare 600 lb Bariatric Hospital Bed Package – BAR600IVC Full-Electric Bed, 42″ x 80″ Foam Mattress and Half Rails
This bariatric hospital bed package is Invacare’s own 600 lb bundle: the Invacare BAR600IVC full-electric bariatric bed, Invacare’s bariatric half-length bed rails made for that bed, and the Invacare BARMATT42 bariatric foam mattress (80″ x 42″). It’s one item and one order under Invacare’s package code BARPKGIVC-1633.
The bed is a heavy-duty full-electric frame for users who weigh up to 600 lbs. A hand pendant moves the head section, the foot section and the bed height, and the 42″ x 80″ sleep surface is, in Invacare’s words, 17% larger than conventional beds. The frame runs out to the edges of the bed deck, which Invacare says gives better support than most other split-spring bariatric beds.
Buying a bariatric bed with mattress and rails as Invacare’s package means the wider mattress and the rails are the parts Invacare names for this bed, so nothing has to be matched by hand. And despite its size, Invacare says the bed sets up at home with no special tools.
What’s in the Package
- Invacare BAR600IVC Bariatric Bed: full-electric head, foot and height; 600 lb max user weight; robotically welded steel frame; emergency crank
- Invacare bariatric half-length bed rails for the BAR600IVC
- Invacare BARMATT42 Bariatric Foam Mattress, 80″ x 42″: latex-free high-resilience foam, 11-ounce vinyl cover
Why Choose This Invacare Bariatric Package?
It takes the guesswork out of a bariatric setup. A standard 36″ hospital mattress won’t fit a 42″-wide bariatric deck, and rails have to match the frame. Invacare’s BAR600IVC brochure names the BARMATT42 mattress and Invacare’s bariatric rails as the ones to use with this bed, and this package puts all three in one order.
600 lb Max User Weight, 700 lb Safe Working Load
Invacare rates the BAR600IVC for a maximum user weight of 600 lbs. The safe working load is 700 lbs, which counts the user, the mattress and all accessories together.
Full-Electric Head, Foot and Height
The hand pendant changes the position of the head and foot sections and raises or lowers the whole bed, so the user or a caregiver can adjust it without cranking. Invacare describes the operation as quiet and smooth. The sleep surface adjusts from 14″ to 22″ high.
Robotically Welded Steel Frame That Reaches the Deck Edges
The frame is robotically welded steel with a heavy-duty design for added strength, and it extends to the edges of the bed deck. Invacare says that gives better support than most other split-spring bariatric beds.
Emergency Crank and Easy In-Home Setup
If the power goes out, the emergency crank manually lowers any raised section of the bed. For setup, the split-spring design uses universal bed ends, no special tools are needed, and easy-release motor mounts let the motor come off quickly for service.
BARMATT42 Bariatric Foam Mattress
The mattress is 80″ long and 42″ wide, built from latex-free, high-resilience foam with a solid inner core that’s reversible and flippable. It has a durable 11-ounce vinyl cover that wipes clean, and Invacare says it meets the federal flammability standards 16 CFR 1632 and 16 CFR 1633.
Who Is This Bariatric Bed Package Best For?
This package is a good fit for:
- Users up to 600 lbs who need a hospital bed at home
- People who need more width than a standard 36″ hospital bed
- Families who want the bed, mattress and rails in one order
- Caregivers who need to raise the bed for care and lower it for transfers
Comparing beds first? Our Hospital Bed Buying Guide: Choosing the Right Bed by Condition matches bed types to common needs, and the Hospital Bed Knowledge Base: Features, Upkeep & Room Fit covers features, upkeep and room fit.
Who May Need a Different Bed?
- Users over 600 lbs: call us about Invacare’s heavier-duty bariatric beds.
- Anyone who only needs the frame: the Invacare BAR600 Bariatric Hospital Bed is sold on its own.
- People who want a pressure redistribution surface: look at the Invacare Softform Premier Bariatric Mattress, sold separately.
- Tight rooms: the bed is 88″ long and 42″ wide. Measure the room and the path to it first.
Common Problem → Bariatric Bed Package Solution
Problem: A standard hospital bed is too narrow for Grandpa, and the family isn’t sure which mattress and rails fit a bariatric frame.
Solution: Invacare’s 600 lb package brings the BAR600IVC bed, the 42″ x 80″ BARMATT42 mattress and the bariatric rails together in one order, all named by Invacare for this bed.
“What if the power goes out while the head is raised?” The emergency crank lowers any raised section by hand.
Sizing & Fit
- Bed: 88″ long x 42″ wide.
- Sleep surface: 80″ x 42″, adjusts from 14″ to 22″ high.
- Capacity: 600 lb max user weight; 700 lb safe working load (user, mattress and accessories).
- Heaviest pieces: the headspring is 114 lbs and the footspring 97 lbs, per Invacare. Plan for two people and a clear path.
Safety Notes
Use the half-length rails only on the BAR600IVC, as Invacare’s order form states, and install them exactly as the Invacare owner’s manual describes. Note that Invacare’s statement about meeting the voluntary FDA bed rail entrapment guidelines covers its standard beds, mattresses and rails used as a system and excludes bariatric beds, so read Invacare’s bed safety guidance and ask us with any questions.
Warranty
Invacare’s limited warranty on the BAR600IVC bed is 5 years on welds and frame structure and 1 year on mechanical and electrical parts. Ask us for the current terms on the rails and mattress. Call 585-505-6665 and we’ll help with any claim.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s included in the bariatric bed package?
Three Invacare items: the BAR600IVC full-electric bariatric bed, Invacare’s bariatric half-length rails for that bed and the BARMATT42 bariatric foam mattress (80″ x 42″). Invacare sells them together as package BARPKGIVC-1633.
How much weight does the bed hold?
Invacare rates it for a 600 lb max user weight. The safe working load is 700 lbs, which includes the user, the mattress and all accessories.
How big is the bed?
The bed is 88″ long and 42″ wide, with an 80″ x 42″ sleep surface. Invacare says that surface is 17% larger than conventional beds.
How high and low does it go?
The sleep surface adjusts from 14″ to 22″ high, per Invacare.
Is it fully electric?
Yes. The hand pendant raises and lowers the head section, the foot section and the bed height.
What happens if the power goes out?
The emergency crank manually lowers any raised section of the bed.
Is it hard to set up at home?
No special tools are needed, per Invacare. The heaviest pieces are the headspring (114 lbs) and footspring (97 lbs), so plan on two people.
What is the mattress made of?
Latex-free, high-resilience foam with a solid inner core that’s reversible and flippable, covered in durable 11-ounce vinyl. Invacare says it meets 16 CFR 1632 and 16 CFR 1633.
Are the rails full length or half length?
Half length. Invacare’s order form lists this package with its bariatric half-length rails and says to use them only with the BAR600IVC bed.
Can I use a standard hospital bed mattress on this bed?
No. A standard mattress is 36″ wide and won’t fill the 42″-wide bariatric deck. That’s why the package includes the 42″ Invacare BARMATT42.
Does the package meet bed rail entrapment guidelines?
Invacare’s statement on the voluntary FDA bed rail entrapment guidelines covers its standard beds, mattresses and rails used as a system and excludes bariatric beds. Follow the owner’s manual for rail installation and use, and ask us with any questions.
What’s the warranty?
Invacare’s limited warranty on the bed is 5 years on welds and frame structure and 1 year on mechanical and electrical parts. Ask us for the rail and mattress terms.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
A major problem with buying medical and mobility equipment through marketplaces like Amazon is realizing later that there is nobody to call when help is needed.
With MedCare Mobility, you buy from an authorized dealer and a real provider you can contact for product help, warranty guidance and support after your purchase.
