Description
Medacure Gel + Foam Mattress Overlay – Gel Mattress Topper for Hospital Beds and Pressure Ulcer Care
The Medacure G7634 is a gel mattress topper for hospital bed users who need more pressure relief without replacing the mattress. Full length gel bladders sit over high density egg crate foam on an anti-slip vinyl base, and four elastic straps hold it to any twin mattress. It measures 76″ x 34″ x 3.5″. Not sure which surface you need? Start with our hospital bed mattress buying guide, then the medical mattress knowledge base.
As a gel foam mattress overlay, it is made for the prevention, treatment and management of pressure ulcers. The gel bladders cover the entire patient contact area from head to toe, which minimizes bottoming out and pitting, and the convoluted foam adds comfort and air circulation.
Families looking for an egg crate mattress topper for bed sores get a sturdier, medical grade version here, with a waterproof, vapor permeable zippered cover. Need a full mattress instead? See the Medacure ProEx memory foam mattress. Call 585-505-6665 for help.
✅ Key Features
- ✔️ Head-to-Toe Gel Bladders
- ✔️ High Density Egg Crate Foam
- ✔️ Waterproof, Vapor Permeable Cover
- ✔️ Anti-Slip Base and 4 Elastic Straps
- ✔️ Fits Any Twin Mattress
- ✔️ 76″ x 34″ x 3.5″ Overlay
Why Choose a Gel + Foam Overlay?
Foam alone can compress under the hips over time. Gel moves with the body and spreads pressure across a wider area, while the egg crate foam underneath keeps the patient off the mattress below and lets air move. Together they give a softer, more even surface on top of a mattress that is still in good shape, at a fraction of the cost of a powered air system.
Who Is It Best For?
- Patients at risk of pressure ulcers on a home or facility bed
- Caregivers who want more pressure relief without replacing the mattress
- Twin size home beds and standard hospital bed mattresses
- Patients who find a firm hospital mattress uncomfortable
- Anyone wanting a quiet, non-powered surface with no pump to manage
Compare it with our hospital bed mattresses, or use the hospital bed mattress assessment tool.
Who May Need Something Else?
- Advanced Stage III or IV wounds: an alternating pressure or low air loss mattress is usually recommended. See our pressure relief mattress guide.
- A worn or sagging mattress: an overlay cannot fix a mattress that has bottomed out; replace it with a foam mattress like the ProEx.
- Beds where rails would sit too low: the overlay adds 3.5″ of height, so check rail height first.
Head-to-Toe Gel Bladders
The gel bladders run the full length and cover the entire patient contact area, so the heels, hips and shoulders all get the same pressure redistribution and the patient is less likely to bottom out at the heaviest point.
Egg Crate Convoluted Foam
High density polyurethane foam with a convoluted, egg crate pattern adds comfort and lets air circulate under the patient, which helps with heat and moisture.
Secure, Waterproof Cover
The zippered cover is waterproof and vapor permeable. An anti-slip vinyl base and four elastic corner straps keep the overlay from shifting on the mattress during repositioning and transfers.
Fitting the Overlay
Lay the overlay on the mattress with the cover zipper toward the foot or side, as you prefer, and hook the four elastic straps around the mattress corners. Make the bed with a fitted sheet that is loose enough not to pull the surface tight, since tight sheets reduce the pressure relief of any gel or foam surface. Check side rail height after fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a gel mattress topper for a hospital bed?
It is a pressure redistribution overlay that sits on top of an existing mattress. The G7634 combines full length gel bladders with convoluted egg crate foam to spread pressure and add comfort without replacing the mattress.
What size is it?
76″ x 34″ x 3.5″. Medacure says it attaches securely to any twin mattress with four elastic straps, which covers most home and hospital bed mattresses.
Does it help with bed sores?
Medacure designs it for the prevention, treatment and management of pressure ulcers. The gel bladders cover the whole patient contact area and the head-to-toe design minimizes bottoming out.
Will it stay in place?
Yes. Four elastic corner straps on the cover hold it to the mattress, and the vinyl base is anti-slip.
Is the cover waterproof?
Yes. The zippered cover is waterproof and vapor permeable, so moisture vapor can escape while fluids stay out.
Do I need to raise my bed rails?
An overlay adds 3.5″ of height. Check that your side rails still sit well above the mattress surface after adding it; if not, ask us about taller rails.
Overlay or new mattress?
An overlay is a good fit when the current mattress is in good shape but the patient needs more pressure relief. If the mattress is worn or sagging, replace it with a foam mattress such as the Medacure ProEx.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
A major problem with buying medical and mobility equipment through marketplaces like Amazon is realizing later that there is nobody to call when help is needed.
With MedCare Mobility, you buy from an authorized dealer and a real provider you can contact for product help, warranty guidance and support after your purchase.
