Description

Medacure Primex Foam Hospital Bed Mattress – Affordable Pressure Redistribution Mattress, 36″ x 80″ x 6″

The Medacure Primex PMX8036 is an affordable hospital bed mattress for everyday pressure ulcer prevention. It is made from quality high density European foam, sized 36″ x 80″ x 6″ for standard hospital beds, and rated for 300 lbs – 350 lbs. Not sure which mattress type you need? Start with our hospital bed mattress buying guide, then the medical mattress knowledge base.

As a foam hospital bed mattress with heel slope, it lowers pressure under the heels, one of the most common places for bed sores. Medacure designs it as a Stage II redistribution foam mattress, so it also works as a stage 2 pressure ulcer mattress for patients at risk. A beveled perimeter edge makes it easier to get in and out of bed, and the hospital grade cover is waterproof, anti-microbial and anti-shear.

Need more sizes, memory foam or a bariatric width? See the Medacure ProEx memory foam mattress or the ProEx firm perimeter mattress. Call 585-505-6665 for help.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ High Density European Foam
  • ✔️ Heel Slope for Heel Protection
  • ✔️ Stage II Redistribution Foam (Medacure)
  • ✔️ Beveled Edge for Easier Transfers
  • ✔️ Waterproof Anti-Microbial Anti-Shear Cover
  • ✔️ 36″ x 80″ x 6″, 300 lbs – 350 lbs Capacity

Why Choose the Primex?

It covers the basics that matter in a hospital bed mattress without paying for features a patient may not need: dense foam that does not bottom out, a heel slope, an anti-shear surface to reduce friction on the skin, and a waterproof cover that comes off for cleaning. For home care and facilities that need a dependable mattress on a budget, it is a strong value.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Patients within the 300 lbs – 350 lbs rating who spend long hours in bed
  • Patients at risk of pressure ulcers, through Stage II (Medacure)
  • Standard 36″ x 80″ home and long term care hospital beds
  • Families and facilities replacing a worn or thin mattress on a budget
  • Patients who need a stable edge for getting in and out of bed

Compare it with our other hospital bed mattresses, or use the hospital bed mattress assessment tool.

Who May Need a Different Mattress?

  • Patients over 350 lbs: choose a bariatric width such as the ProEx 42″ or 48″ sizes, rated 550 lbs.
  • Stage III or IV pressure ulcers: an alternating pressure or low air loss mattress is usually recommended. See our pressure relief mattress guide.
  • Beds other than 36″ x 80″: measure your bed deck and call us.

High Density European Foam

High density foam is durable and flexible, so the mattress keeps its shape and support over time instead of sagging in the middle where the hips rest.

Heel Slope for Heel Protection

The foot end slopes under the heels to take pressure off them, giving maximum wound prevention at the heel, as Medacure puts it.

Beveled Perimeter Edge

The beveled edge allows safe and easy transfer in and out of bed, helping patients sit and stand at the side of the bed with more control.

Hospital Grade Cover

The detachable cover is 70 denier nylon with PVC backing. It is waterproof, anti-microbial, anti-shear and flame retardant (CFR 1632 and 1633, conforms to CAL TB 117), with a protected zipper for sanitary benefits and to help prevent infection. Medacure lists it as available with a fire sock.

How to Measure Your Hospital Bed for a Mattress

Measure the bed deck, not the old mattress. Most home and facility hospital beds take a 36″ x 80″ mattress, but some are 76″ or 84″ long or have been widened. The mattress should fill the deck from headboard to footboard with no gap a hand can fit into, because gaps at the head, foot or sides can trap an arm or leg. If the bed has been extended, add a mattress extender to close the gap. A 6″ mattress like the Primex works with standard side rails; check rail height if you add an overlay on top.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Primex a good affordable hospital bed mattress?

Yes. The Primex is Medacure’s value foam mattress: high density European foam, a heel slope, an anti-shear waterproof cover and a beveled edge, at a lower price than the multi-layer ProEx.

What size is it?

36″ wide, 80″ long and 6″ thick (PMX8036), the standard size for most home and long term care hospital beds.

What weight capacity does it have?

Medacure rates the Primex for 300 lbs – 350 lbs. For heavier patients, choose a bariatric mattress.

Does it help prevent bed sores?

Medacure designs the Primex as a Stage II redistribution foam mattress for pressure ulcer prevention, with a heel slope to protect the heels. Regular turning and skin checks still matter.

What is the beveled perimeter edge for?

The edges are beveled, which Medacure says allows for safe and easy transfer in and out of bed.

Is the cover waterproof?

Yes. It is 70 denier nylon with PVC backing: waterproof, anti-microbial, flame retardant and anti-shear, and it detaches with a protected zipper for cleaning.

Primex or ProEx?

Choose the Primex for everyday prevention on a budget, rated 300 lbs – 350 lbs. Choose the ProEx for a 3-layer memory foam design, more sizes and bariatric widths.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
