Description

Medacure Comfort Zone – Alternating Pressure Mattress with Low Air Loss for Stage IV Wound Care

The Medacure Comfort Zone is an alternating pressure mattress with low air loss, built as a full mattress replacement for hospital beds. An 8″ cell-on-cell surface, a digital pump and 20 snap-out cells combine two proven therapies for the prevention, treatment and management of pressure ulcers, up to Stage IV per Medacure. Comparing surfaces? Start with our hospital bed mattress buying guide and the medical mattress knowledge base.

As an alternating pressure mattress for hospital bed frames, the Comfort Zone comes in the standard 80″ length (CZ36) and an 84″ extra long length (CZ3684) for extended beds and tall patients, both 36″ wide and rated for 450 lbs.

Families searching for an air mattress for bed sores get a system that is simple to run: set the patient’s weight or comfort level on the digital panel and the pump does the rest. Questions about which surface fits your patient? Call us at 585-505-6665.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ Alternating Pressure + Low Air Loss
  • ✔️ Cell-on-Cell Design Prevents Bottoming Out
  • ✔️ Digital Pump, 10 Pressure Levels
  • ✔️ 20 Snap-Out Replaceable Cells
  • ✔️ CPR Quick Deflate, Power Failure Alert
  • ✔️ 36″ x 80″ or 84″ x 8″, 450 lb Capacity

How the Comfort Zone Works

Twenty air cells run across the mattress. In alternating mode the pump inflates and deflates alternate cells on a set cycle, so the pressure under the heels, sacrum, hips and shoulders keeps moving. Eight ventilated cells let a little air escape through the surface for low air loss, which helps manage heat and moisture, two big causes of skin breakdown. The top three cells at the head stay static as a pillow, so the patient’s head is not rocked by the cycle.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Patients with existing pressure ulcers, up to Stage IV per Medacure
  • High risk patients who spend most of the day in bed
  • Patients who cannot reposition themselves
  • Home care and facility beds that take a 36″ x 80″ or 36″ x 84″ mattress
  • Patients up to 450 lbs

Not sure you need a powered surface? The hospital bed mattress assessment tool walks you through it.

Who May Need Something Else?

Cell-on-Cell Design

Each cell is two chambers. The upper part does the alternating therapy; the lower 4″ retains air. That base keeps the patient off the bed deck if the pump stops or the power fails, which is the main safety difference between cell-on-cell and single cell air mattresses.

The Digital Pump

The Comfort Zone pump is built for caregivers who are not mattress technicians. The digital control panel sets therapy by the patient’s weight or by firmness across 10 pressure levels, and switches between alternating pressure and static mode. Alternating cycle time is variable at 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes. Auto firm inflation firms the surface for care and transfers, a panel lock stops accidental changes, and low pressure and power failure alerts tell staff when something needs attention. The air filter is quick-change, and Medacure describes the pump as whisper quiet.

Quilted, Fluid Resistant Cover

The cover is fluid resistant nylon with a quilted top for comfort, over a woven base with non-slip material that helps keep the mattress from sliding on the deck. The cells are nylon/TPU.

Sizes

Medacure Item # Dimensions (L x W x H) Weight Capacity
CZ36 80″ x 36″ x 8″, standard length 450 lbs
CZ3684 84″ x 36″ x 8″, extra long 450 lbs

Need a built-in air perimeter or a wider surface? Medacure makes Comfort Zone models for both, listed below in related products.

Setting Up

Remove the old mattress, lay the Comfort Zone on the deck with the hose at the foot, and fasten the straps to the bed frame. Hang the pump on the footboard, connect the quick connect hose and plug it in. Let the mattress inflate fully, set the patient’s weight or comfort level, then place the patient. Check the low pressure indicator after setup and at each shift.

Care

Wipe the cover with a mild disinfectant and let it dry before use. Change the pump’s air filter on schedule. Inspect hoses and cells regularly and replace any cell that does not hold air.

What’s Included

Comfort Zone mattress with 20 replaceable air cells, quilted cover and the digital pump, in the length you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an alternating pressure mattress with low air loss?

It is a powered air mattress that does two things. Alternating pressure inflates and deflates rows of air cells in turns, so no part of the body carries pressure for long. Low air loss lets a gentle flow of air escape through vented cells to keep skin cool and dry. Together they are used to prevent, treat and manage pressure ulcers.

What stage of bed sores is the Comfort Zone for?

Medacure designs the Comfort Zone series for the prevention, treatment and management of pressure ulcers up to Stage IV. Always follow the care plan from the patient’s doctor or wound care nurse.

What happens if the power goes out?

The Comfort Zone uses a cell-on-cell design. The lower 4″ of each cell keeps its air, so the patient does not bottom out on the bed frame during an outage, and the pump has a power failure alert.

Will it fit my hospital bed?

CZ36 is 80″ x 36″ x 8″ and fits standard home care and facility hospital beds. CZ3684 is 84″ long for extended beds and taller patients. Because the mattress is 8″ high, check that your side rails sit high enough above the surface.

What is the weight capacity?

Medacure rates the CZ36 and CZ3684 for 450 lbs. For heavier patients, see the Comfort Zone bariatric mattresses rated for 650 or 1,000 lbs.

What is the CPR function for?

The patented CPR quick inflate/deflate system lets staff deflate the mattress fast in an emergency so CPR can be done on a firm surface.

Can a cell be replaced?

Yes. The 20 air cells snap in and snap out, so one damaged cell can be replaced without replacing the whole mattress.

Does it come with the pump?

Yes. The Comfort Zone is a complete mattress replacement system with the digital pump, mattress and cover.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
