Description

Medacure Air Wave – Alternating Pressure Low Air Loss Mattress System That Anyone Can Run

The Medacure Air Wave AW7000 is an alternating pressure low air loss mattress system built around one idea: wound care therapy that a caregiver can run with no training. One dial sets the pressure, two lights show the status, and the 8″ mattress does the work. Comparing surfaces? Start with our hospital bed mattress buying guide and the medical mattress knowledge base.

As an 8 inch alternating pressure mattress, it replaces the hospital bed mattress entirely, with 20 snap-out cells, a quilted cover and straps that fix it to the bed frame.

For families comparing a low air loss mattress for pressure ulcers, the Air Wave combines both therapies at a price well below cell-on-cell systems. It fits standard 36″ beds and is rated for 440 lbs. Questions? Call us at 585-505-6665.

✅ Key Features

  • ✔️ Alternating Pressure + Low Air Loss
  • ✔️ One-Dial Pump, Soft to Firm
  • ✔️ 20 Snap-Out Replaceable Cells
  • ✔️ Transport Mode and CPR Deflate
  • ✔️ Quilted Cover, Straps to Bed Frame
  • ✔️ 79″ x 36″ x 8″, 440 lb Capacity

Simple Therapy, One Knob

Many air mattresses fail at home not because of the mattress but because the pump is confusing. The Air Wave pump has one dial: turn it toward soft, medium or firm, or set it by the patient’s weight, across a 20 to 60 mmHg range. A green light shows normal pressure and a red light shows low pressure, so a family caregiver can check it at a glance.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Home care patients at risk of, or recovering from, pressure ulcers
  • Caregivers who want a system that is easy to run
  • Standard 36″ x 80″ hospital beds
  • Patients up to 440 lbs
  • Facilities that need a dependable, budget friendly powered surface

Compare surfaces with the hospital bed mattress assessment tool.

Who May Need Something Else?

  • Patients with advanced wounds or long outages expected: the cell-on-cell Comfort Zone keeps a base of air if power fails.
  • Fall risk patients: add a defined perimeter mattress cover or choose the Comfort Zone with built-in air perimeter.
  • Bariatric patients: see the Comfort Zone bariatric series.

Alternating Pressure with Low Air Loss

Twenty 8″ air cells alternate on a 10 minute cycle, and 9 of them are low air loss cells that let air pass through the surface. The top 3 cells at the head stay static as a pillow, so the patient’s head stays steady while the body gets the therapy. Our pressure relief mattress guide explains how each therapy helps.

Quilted Cover and Secure Fit

The nylon/PU quilted cover is fluid resistant and closes with a covered zipper. A mesh PVC base with anti-slip material and adjustable straps fixes the mattress to the bed frame so it does not shift when the head of the bed is raised.

Pump Details

The whisper quiet pump moves 8 LPM, weighs 5.7 lbs and measures 11″ x 4″ x 8″. The filter is easy to replace, and the hooks fold flat when the pump is stored.

Setting Up

Remove the old mattress, lay the Air Wave on the deck with the hose at the foot and fasten the straps. Hang the pump on the footboard, connect the hose and switch on. Wait for the green light, then set the dial to the patient’s weight or comfort level before placing the patient.

Care

Wipe the cover with a mild disinfectant and let it dry. Replace the filter as needed and inspect the cells and hose regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an alternating pressure low air loss mattress system?

It is a powered air mattress and pump sold together. The pump inflates and deflates alternate cells to keep pressure moving, and vented cells let air flow through the surface to keep skin cool and dry. It is used to prevent, treat and manage pressure ulcers.

How easy is the Air Wave to use?

Very. The pump has one pressure control knob with soft, medium and firm indicators, plus a green normal pressure light and a red low pressure light. Medacure describes it as requiring almost no training.

What size is it and what is the weight capacity?

The mattress is 79″ x 36″ x 8″ and Medacure rates it for 440 lbs. It fits standard 36″ x 80″ hospital beds.

Is the Air Wave cell-on-cell?

No. It uses single 8″ cells, which keeps the cost down. If you need protection against bottoming out during a power outage, the Comfort Zone series uses a cell-on-cell design.

Can it be moved with the patient?

Yes. Transport mode retains air while the pump is disconnected for short moves.

What is the CPR function?

A CPR emergency deflate lets staff empty the mattress quickly so CPR can be performed on a firm surface.

Can I replace one cell?

Yes. The cells snap in and snap out, so a damaged cell can be replaced on its own.

Does the pump hang on the bed?

Yes. Durable hanging hooks secure the pump to the footboard and fold back when not in use. The power cord is 15 feet long.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Return Policy

At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.

Shipping & Order Processing

We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.

Processing Time

Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.

Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.

Transit & Delivery Time

Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.

Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.

Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.

Freight & Oversized Equipment

Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.

30-Day Return Policy

We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.

Eligible products generally include:

  • Electric and power wheelchairs
  • Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Walkers and rollators
  • Patient lifts
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Hospital and homecare beds
  • Eligible medical mattresses
  • Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
  • Overbed tables
  • Bathroom benches and shower chairs
  • Other eligible medical and mobility equipment

Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.

Return Authorization

Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.

You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.

Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.

Condition of Returned Merchandise

To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:

  • In brand-new and unused condition
  • In its complete original manufacturer packaging
  • With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
  • Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
  • In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer

We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.

Restocking Fees

Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.

These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.

If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.

Return Shipping & Shipping Charges

The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.

Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.

Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.

Non-Returnable Products

For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.

We currently do not accept returns on:

  • Parts & accessories
  • Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
  • Patient lift slings
  • Custom or made-to-order products
  • Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page

If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.

If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.

Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.

If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.

Refused Deliveries

Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.

A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.

Return Shipping Deadline

Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.

This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.

Refund Processing

Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.

The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.

If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.

Custom & Made-to-Order Products

Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.

For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.

If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.

Questions Before Ordering?

Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.

Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.

For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
