Description
Medacure Extra Wide Bariatric Wheelchair – 26″, 28″ or 30″, 700 lb
The Medacure extra wide model is a 700 lb bariatric wheelchair: a dual crossbar steel folding wheelchair with a 20″ deep seat for larger users. Read our wheelchair buying guide and the wheelchair knowledge base before you choose.
Choose a 26″, 28″ or 30 inch wheelchair seat, with swing-away footrests or elevating leg rests.
The 26 inch wheelchair is the narrowest of the three overall, at 35″ wide, for easier fit through doors. Questions? Call us at 585-505-6665.
✅ Key Features
- ✔️ 700 lb Weight Capacity
- ✔️ 26″, 28″ or 30″ Wide Seat
- ✔️ 20″ Deep Seat
- ✔️ Dual Crossbar Steel Frame
- ✔️ Swing-Away or Elevating Leg Rests
- ✔️ Folds to 13″
Why an Extra Wide Bariatric Wheelchair?
Some users need more than a 24″ seat. Squeezing into a chair that is too narrow causes pressure on the hips and thighs and makes transfers harder. Medacure’s extra wide bariatric wheelchair offers a 26″, 28″ or 30″ seat that is 20″ deep, on a dual crossbar steel frame rated for 700 lbs.
Who Is It Best For?
- Users up to 700 lbs who need a seat wider than 24″
- Bariatric programs in hospitals and nursing homes
- Homes with wide doorways or open floor plans
- Users who need leg elevation (ELR)
Who May Need Something Else?
- Users under 500 lbs who fit 22″ or 24″: the Medacure Wings K7 22″/24″, narrower overall.
- Patient transfers: a bariatric lift such as the Medacure FS850 (850 lbs).
- See our wheelchair buying guide.

| Best for | Frequent transfers, standing | Leg swelling, comfort, after surgery |

Heavy Duty Construction
A silver vein steel frame with a dual crossbar and steel side panels supports up to 700 lbs. 8″ heavy duty swivel casters ride on reinforced aluminum forks, 24″ composite mag wheels never need air, and chrome steel push to lock brakes hold the chair steady for transfers.
Comfort and Transfers
Padded, flame retardant nylon upholstery and padded desk length arms keep the user comfortable. The arms detach for side transfers and the leg rests detach or swing away so the user can stand or transfer without obstacles.
Caregiver Tips
Pushing a heavy chair is hard work. Keep the tires and casters clean, lock both brakes before every transfer, and use a second helper on ramps steeper than recommended for the load. On curbs, step on the tipping lever and lift the casters first rather than lifting the whole chair.
Checking Your Home
Before ordering, measure every doorway, hallway turn and elevator on the user’s daily route against the overall width. Plan for ramps or threshold ramps where needed, and check that the vehicle used for transport can carry a 13″ folded chair weighing about 65 lbs, ideally with a helper or lift.
Cushions and Add-Ons
Medacure sells matching seat cushions in 26″, 28″ and 30″ widths: the Medacure gel wheelchair cushion for pressure relief or the Medacure foam wheelchair cushion for everyday comfort. Order the cushion in the same width as the seat. A seatback bag keeps personal items within reach. Not sure which cushion? Read our wheelchair cushion guide.
Wheelchair Safety Checklist
- Lock both wheel locks before sitting down, standing up or transferring.
- Flip up or swing away the footplates before standing.
- Check tire, caster and wheel lock condition weekly.
- Tip the chair back only with the tipping lever and a trained helper.
- Do not exceed the weight capacity for your seat width.
What’s Included
Extra wide bariatric wheelchair in the width you choose, with swing-away footrests or elevating leg rests, detachable padded desk arms and nylon upholstery. Cushion sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much weight does it hold?
Medacure rates all three widths for 700 lbs.
Will it fit through my doors?
Measure first. Overall width is 35″ (26″), 37″ (28″) or 39″ (30″). Many home doorways are 30″ to 32″, so check every door on the route; folded, the chair is 13″ wide.
Which width do I need?
Measure across the widest point of the hips and thighs while seated and add about 2″. If the user fits a 24″ seat and weighs under 500 lbs, the narrower Medacure Wings K7 22″/24″ is easier to move through doors.
What leg rests are available?
Swing-away footrests (SF) or elevating leg rests with adjustable height and an aluminum footrest (ELR). Both detach.
Why is the seat 20″ deep?
Larger users need more thigh support. A 20″ deep seat spreads weight over more of the thigh, which improves comfort and reduces pressure.
Does it fold?
Yes, to 13″ wide for storage and transport.
What is the seat to floor height?
19″, which suits most adult transfers to beds, toilets and chairs.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping & Return Policy
At MedCare Mobility, we understand that purchasing medical and mobility equipment is an important decision. Our goal is to make the ordering, delivery, and return process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Because many of the products we offer are large, specialized, or shipped directly from manufacturer and distributor warehouses, shipping and return requirements may vary somewhat by product and brand. The policy below explains what you can generally expect when ordering from MedCare Mobility.
Shipping & Order Processing
We ship medical and mobility equipment to customers throughout the United States. Orders are processed as quickly as possible, and tracking information is provided once available.
Processing Time
Most in-stock orders are processed within approximately 1–3 business days. Processing may include order verification, warehouse preparation, packaging, and coordination with the manufacturer or distributor.
Some specialty equipment, made-to-order products, oversized items, or products shipping directly from a manufacturer may require additional processing time. Any estimated processing or lead time shown on an individual product page should be considered part of the expected fulfillment timeframe for that item.
Transit & Delivery Time
Once shipped, many standard orders arrive within approximately 3–7 business days. Larger medical equipment, freight shipments, specialty products, and certain manufacturer-direct orders may require additional transit time.
Tracking information will generally be emailed once the shipment has been processed by the carrier. If you have questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us at info@medcaremobility.com.
Alaska, Hawaii & Special Shipping Areas
Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and certain remote or limited-access areas may be subject to additional shipping charges. If an additional charge is required after your order is reviewed, we will contact you before proceeding whenever additional payment is necessary.
Freight & Oversized Equipment
Hospital beds, patient lifts, large recliners, ramps, and other oversized medical equipment may ship by freight rather than standard parcel service. Unless a specific delivery service is stated on the product page or order, freight delivery does not automatically include inside delivery, assembly, installation, or removal of packaging.
30-Day Return Policy
We want you to feel comfortable ordering from MedCare Mobility. Most eligible products may be returned when a return is requested within 30 days of delivery, subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined below.
Eligible products generally include:
- Electric and power wheelchairs
- Manual and lightweight wheelchairs
- Mobility scooters
- Walkers and rollators
- Patient lifts
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hospital and homecare beds
- Eligible medical mattresses
- Geriatric and medical recliner chairs
- Overbed tables
- Bathroom benches and shower chairs
- Other eligible medical and mobility equipment
Return eligibility can vary by manufacturer and product type. Products specifically identified as non-returnable, custom, made-to-order, or otherwise subject to special return terms are governed by those terms.
Return Authorization
Please contact us before shipping any product back. Returns must first be approved and issued a Return Authorization (RA) and the appropriate return shipping address.
You may request a return by emailing info@medcaremobility.com or contacting our customer service team through the live chat on our website.
Please do not return merchandise to an address shown on the original shipping label unless specifically instructed to do so. Many products ship directly from manufacturer or distributor warehouses, and the correct return location may be different from the original shipping location.
Condition of Returned Merchandise
To qualify for a return and refund, the product must be returned:
- In brand-new and unused condition
- In its complete original manufacturer packaging
- With all manuals, components, hardware, accessories, and included materials
- Without damage, modification, assembly wear, stains, odors, or other signs of use
- In resalable condition upon inspection by the receiving warehouse or manufacturer
We strongly recommend keeping the original box, pallet, protective materials, and packaging until you are certain that you intend to keep the equipment. Large medical equipment can be difficult or impossible to return safely without its original packaging.
Restocking Fees
Approved returns are subject to a mandatory restocking fee, generally ranging from 15% to 20% of the applicable product price. The exact restocking percentage varies depending on the manufacturer, brand, and type of equipment being returned.
These restocking charges are assessed to us by the manufacturer or distributing warehouse when merchandise is returned. MedCare Mobility does not add the fee simply as a return penalty; when the manufacturer requires the charge, we must pass the applicable amount through as part of processing the return.
If you would like to know the applicable restocking percentage for a particular product before ordering, please contact us and we will be happy to help whenever that information is available from the manufacturer.
Return Shipping & Shipping Charges
The customer is responsible for shipping charges associated with the order when making a standard return.
Customers are responsible for arranging for the approved merchandise to be returned to the return address provided with the Return Authorization. In certain cases, we may be able to provide a prepaid return label or coordinate return transportation for your convenience. When provided, the applicable shipping cost may be deducted from the final refund.
Because some medical equipment is oversized or requires freight transportation, prepaid labels or carrier call tags may not be available for every product. Our customer service team will provide the available return instructions when your return is authorized.
Non-Returnable Products
For health, hygiene, safety, customization, and manufacturer-policy reasons, certain products are not eligible for standard returns.
We currently do not accept returns on:
- Parts & accessories
- Wheelchair cushions and support accessories
- Patient lift slings
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable on the product page
If a non-returnable product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Non-returnable status does not prevent us from assisting with a legitimate shipping damage, defect, warranty, or fulfillment issue in accordance with the applicable manufacturer and carrier procedures.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
We take shipping damage seriously and will work with you to help resolve legitimate delivery issues.
If your product arrives damaged, please notify MedCare Mobility within 48 hours of delivery. Whenever possible, retain the shipping carton, pallet, packaging materials, and the product exactly as received and take clear photographs of the packaging and any visible damage.
Reporting damage promptly is important because carriers and manufacturers have limited timeframes for filing freight and shipping claims.
If you receive an incorrect product or believe there is a manufacturer defect, please contact us before returning or disposing of any merchandise or packaging so that we can provide the appropriate instructions.
Refused Deliveries
Please contact us before refusing a delivery unless the shipment has obvious significant freight damage and the carrier is documenting the damage at delivery.
A shipment that is refused for reasons unrelated to verified shipping damage may be treated as a standard return. Applicable restocking and shipping charges may therefore be deducted from the refund.
Return Shipping Deadline
Once a return has been approved and return instructions or a return label have been issued, the merchandise must be shipped within 72 hours unless MedCare Mobility provides different instructions in writing.
This is particularly important when a return is approaching the end of the applicable return period. Returns shipped outside the authorized timeframe may be refused by the manufacturer or warehouse and may no longer qualify for a refund.
Refund Processing
Refunds are processed after the returned merchandise has been received and inspected by the applicable warehouse or manufacturer and the return has been confirmed to meet the return requirements.
The applicable restocking fee, shipping charges associated with the order, and any other authorized return-related charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund.
If returned merchandise is used, damaged, incomplete, missing original packaging or components, or otherwise returned in a condition that prevents the manufacturer or warehouse from accepting it as new and resalable merchandise, the return may be refused or the refund may be reduced in accordance with the manufacturer’s assessment.
Custom & Made-to-Order Products
Products identified as custom, configured, made-to-order, special-order, or manufactured specifically for the customer cannot generally be canceled once production or manufacturer processing has begun and are not eligible for standard returns.
For custom products, cancellation may only be possible during the initial processing period and before production or customization begins. Because production schedules vary by manufacturer, we encourage customers to contact us immediately if a change is required.
If a custom product arrives damaged or has a legitimate manufacturing defect, we will work with the manufacturer to pursue the appropriate resolution, replacement components, repair, or other available remedy under the applicable manufacturer policy or warranty.
Questions Before Ordering?
Medical equipment can vary considerably in size, configuration, compatibility, and intended use. If you are unsure whether a product will work for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before placing your order.
Our team is happy to help review product specifications, dimensions, options, compatibility, and available manufacturer information so you can make a more informed purchasing decision and reduce the possibility of needing a return.
For shipping, return, or product questions, contact us at info@medcaremobility.com or speak with us through the live chat on our website.
